  1. SOOOO excited. Does anyone have a volume pedal I can borrow for the lap steel?
  2. For the people that like the black keys, Dan Auerbach has released a solo album. And it's darn pretty if I say so. I might even like it more than the last bk albums. It's streamed in full on my fav dutch music site: 3VOOR12 - Luisterpaal (Plenty of other good stuff there too at the moment!)
  3. Has anyone else ever listened to Man Man? I found them through the brilliant Blogotheque/Concert a emportee youtube channel mentioned in some other IMP thread. I got 2 of their albums and it's all really really good! MAN MAN on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads
  4. Oh those fingers are there alright. Hearing all the lovely stories through mates. I'm so happy to be gone from there. Although they might have a job for me here....
  5. I TOLD you Aberdeen had a good music scene. As an example of some of the conversations I've had: I spoke to my old neighbour who I thought I got along with socially. He does a lot of music stuff, I basically said "we should talk music over a cup of coffee sometime?" His response: "Why?" (literally all he said). With a face as if I was some random. So was about to say it'd be nice and interesting, and he interupted me saying "is it for 'school' or something?" with a face as if he was the modern equivalent of bloody Mozart. I forgot about the arrogance of Dutch musicians. They think they're the king because the place is so small & everyone knows them. Miss you all. Kiss. Lots of serious ice skating madness going on here.
  6. They'll have to let me into the country first...
  7. LOL. Yeah it's the 3 gezusters (three sisters). I went there all the time, when I was 18 or so. It's a massive maze of pubs. Maybe 20 Ma Cameron's in one venue? (spread out over 3 or 4 buildings).
  8. Above trip is now definitely happening! Anyway, I went to see a band for the first time last saturday. Not intentionally, they just happened to play in one of my old haunts. WOW. This is what I hate about Dutch music in general: the terrible blandness of it all! These guys were as white as can be, and trying to do jamaican reggae/ska. Bo-ring! And the worst thing was, the singer was trying his best to do it all in a jamaican accent/voice. Even the stuff in Dutch... Ouch. Did I miss anything good in Aberdeen?
  9. Because he won't be able to find it? Hohohoho.
  10. Thanks to everyone again. I used to have the mic inside the suitcase, purely because it would cause feedback so easily. But with this new mic I will almost certainly mic it up on the outside. Will let you know how it works out in a few weeks time.
  11. Thanks for all the advice. I ended up with the sure sm57, purely because I got bruce millers gift vouchers as a leaving present from work. What a rip off by the way: It cost me 85 pounds... They go for 50 odd on the web. Wow. I think it will do the trick. It does bring up a new question: For my live set up I used to chuck the previous mic into the suitcase, which did not sound too great anyway. Would I be better off with a construction that has the mic outside (behind) the suitcase? Also I would eventually like to loop vocals too, so I need easier access to the mic. And does anyone know a way to make the suitcase give more bassy sounds? I thought I could stuff it with my jacket or sheets? Cheers again!!
  12. Finally got to listen to it. I love it!! ALL of it. Even Jan Deal's track.
  13. Wrong side of the bed this morning? (it was for me - bit early!) Man what a night. I think I enjoyed my set - still not very sure. Really enjoyed 7 Hertz, although some of the 'jokes' in between were a bit awkward Thomas, as always, was brilliant. Did he play this long the last times? I don't remember. But it was ace, despite technical and brain failure. The new material is ace, and so are the covers.
  14. A relatively off topic question but I'm keen to find out: What kind of scientist would you have been Peter if the University had not kicked you out because they were affraid of you?
  15. Brilliant, yes I do have place on the mixer so that's what I'll do. Thanks!
  16. I am looking to invest in a microphone for my live set-up. My set-up: I use a suitcase for a kick drum and percussion, that goes into a wee mixer (as does my guitar and some other things) and that goes back into my Headrush looper pedal. I currently use the crappiest mic ever, thinnest sound, etc, and I am looking to upgrade. I need something that will not sound too thin (especially for the drums/percussion), but also does not require things like phantom power. Batteries are fine if needed. I would eventually like to be able to use the mic for vocals too (I am thinking of adding gospel-like vocals to my loops, using it for recording onto my laptop etc). Any suggestions? I think I have more or less 100 to spend.Cheaper would be good but from what I hear/read it's not going to be to cheap. What should I be looking for? Thanks, John
