  1. I know it sums up neds, the same sort of cunts that attack the police, don't these halfwits realise that public services are there to protect the public? essentially if you attack the police or especially fire brigade, your just attacking yourself. i fucking hate neds.
  2. Contacts are where its at, I'm telling you. I wore glasses for 8 years and promised myself that as soon as I needed to wear my glasses all the time, I'd get contacts. So in January I got them, and it took me nearly 5 weeks to master them, but now I pretty much have and they're worth it. You can't even feel that they're in and it feels brilliant to be able to see perfectly without having to wear glasses. As someone else said, I was forever breaking glasses and needing new pairs, man up until I was 18 the NHS must have hated me! Contacts don't suit everyone because some people just don't like putting things in their eyes but if you perservere I reckon anyone could wear them. Mike
  3. erm, no, i'm actually from belfast, dick. and my point is that things like this happen so much at home and people from here have told me glasgow is an extension of belfast in terms of peoples attitudes. i didn't really buy it but from what i've heard, trying to shoot a public service with an air gun and hitting a 2 year old instead sounds exactly like the sort of scummy thing some piece of shit from the shankhill (or falls) road would do. sectarianism, for once, doesn't come into it.
  4. yeah just sums up fucking Glasgow. i'm starting to believe people who say its just an extension of Belfast. scum.
  5. Inspector Gadget wanks over everything else on that list! Go gadget go!
  6. You would certainly think so, but for a man that made joint #1 in NME's 2005 'Cool List' (I must point out obviously I don't agree with this), and the fact that Libertines/Babyshambles fans literally worship the guy, despite his smack problem he gets a hell of a lot of respect and admiration. Even on that Channel 4 NME Awards week where Edith Bowman and various alterative critics (Alan McGee, arsehole from Big Brother, Queens of Noize tart) discussed the Libertines, they all kissed his ass and went on about what an icon he is and what an important band the Libs are/were.
  7. This whole Pete Doherty thing is extremely crazy. I don't think people realise, but right now he's becoming easily the most iconic modern rock star in Britain, whether you like it or not. Personally, I'm not too sure what to think of him, somedays I think he's a useless junkie cock who's too selfish to realise what he's doing to himself and his fans, and somedays, particularly when I hear Libertines' latest stuff, I realise why there is fuss made about him. The sort of music he makes with Libertines and Babyshambles is, admittedly, heavily influenced by The Clash, The Jam and The Specials, to name the most obvious influences, but it must be said that there isn't a single other act as compelling right now as the Libertines. I think it can only go one of two ways; either Doherty cleans up, rejoines Barat in the Libertines, and they can sell out any arena in the UK. Think about it, with all this publicity, and the whole 'will-they won't they' nature of the Libs, plus the fact that they have been quite successful commerically with 'Up The Bracket' and 'The Libertines', they would be a fairly big draw for the summer festivals and I reckon could easily do an arena tour. Although with punk rock principles they probably wouldn't want to, which is fair enough. The other option is that Doherty does what about 90% of the UK are waiting for him to do; die - sickeningly and a reflection on our country's morals, William Hill allegedly offered odds of 4-1 on him not seeing Christmas. And if he does, he'll become a massive icon, because he's young, he's talented, and he threw it all away - look at the two other stand-out wasters in rock history - Vicious and Cobain, both died relatively young and neither was particularly musically talented. As Hendrix said, "Once you're dead, you're made for life." If he does die, he'll become massively iconic as an anti-hero. Unfortunately it's difficult to work out if this is justified after the NME hyped him up to Christ-like status (as they tend to do with any young rock stars) and the tabloid papers, particularly The Sun kiss his ass, pay him for interviews and then refer to him as a 'junkie rock star'. So the question I've been leading up to is this - what do you think will happen to Doherty? Will he return to the music scene, cleaned-up and moved on, reform The Libertines and become one of the few rock stars who comes back from the brink, or will he descend even further into drug-fuelled loserdom and pass away before becoming the ultimate anti-hero? Whether you like him or not, he's got us all talking.... Mike
  8. Thanks for all the comments. Those tracks were recorded in Captain Toms' studio in June of last year - to the dude from MGB, we did play Drummonds with you back in May '04, and live we do sound quite a bit different - rougher if you will, although I'd like to think in a good sense. I agree that the guitar part is fairly straightforward in either song, but then again I'm the drummer so thankfully thats not my fault lol. Those were the very first two songs we wrote, and we've got quite a few more in a similar vein on the go just now. I don't want to blame production though, the fuckin demo cost 60 so its not too bad considering. Cheers again for everyone's comments, maybe see you at a gig of ours sometime. Mike
  9. never heard of them....they could well be shit but I'm not going to slag them because I accept people's opinions.
  10. Josef Stalin = Russian dictator Your name is obviously meant to be controversial and I presume your referring to Stalin. Hence I wouldn't expect someone who admires Stalin to accept other peoples opinions.
  11. My my, we do have problems with other people's opinions don't we. Although having said that with a name like Josef I didn't expect you to be able to accept other's opinions.
  12. yeah sorry I forgot, make any positive comments about successful, mainstream music on this forum and get put down. should put that as a disclaimer on the homepage.
  13. Can't believe noones mentioned the three clear best openers for albums ever... Probably trying really hard not to be mainstream... Oasis - Rock N' Roll Star (Definitely Maybe) Guns N' Roses - Welcome To The Jungle (Appetite For Destruction) Metallica - Enter Sandman (Metallica) mike
  14. im not entirely sure, think its just cause hes got the same name as a greasy, south american twat of a pop star. kind of ironic in that he looks a bit like a greasy bastard as well. hmmm i dont even know why i said that. bah
  15. Hey, just wondering if any of you peeps have the time could you have a listen to a couple of my band Killing Time's tracks. Below is a link to two of the songs on AUBL's website. Cheers. Mike http://www.downloadcounter.com/cgi-bin/download.pl?username=AUBL&account=156 http://www.downloadcounter.com/cgi-bin/download.pl?username=AUBL&account=157 PS: This isn't a ploy to get us higher in the aubl chart. We've already been raped by everyone lol.
  16. my mate, ironically named ricky martin, dumped his girlfriend of two years by text message. the text was so long it was basically seven linked together, explaining why, and how it was him and not her, etc. he then wasn't sure if it had sent properly so he sent another one saying 'did you get that text? its over' wot a fucking twat still she was a total bitch so she deserved it
  17. yeah i totally agree that bouncers up here are fine unless you go asking for trouble. i find sometimes the exodus bouncers tend to be cocky bastards - well one or two. i think the whole image is why people tend to resent them quite a lot. the worst bouncers in the 'deen are at ministry, easily. theres too many and they're all arrogant, insolent muscle-marys. liquids bouncers are pleasant enough and do their job well. out of interest, what's everyones worst bouncer related experience? mike
  18. I've been to oxegen every year since 2002 now, (when it was called witnness), and its fucking awesome. Never been to TITP so can't say what its like, but its on the same weekend. Basically what happens is the bands that play on the Saturday in Ireland play in Scotland on the Sunday and vice versa. They basically swap for either day. Occassionally theres a few changes in lineup - ie. last year Oxegen got The Cure whilst TITP got the Pixies. The reason for this is that Manchester's Move Festival at Old Trafford also happens to be over the same weekend. If you can, go to Oxegen, brilliant atmosphere, lots of Guinness, lots of lovely Irish ladies. You knows it baby!
  19. Although I agree with the majority of the sentiments expressed above, i find it worrying that the British press and the music loving public are standing watching Doherty die, because lets face it, hes going to very soon; and its almost positive it'll be suicide. hes seeing how far he can push his drug taking, and sooner or later its gonna take it toll and someones gonna find him hanging from a rope. the shite national tabloid rags are running front page articles on a dying junkie to sell fucking papers. i dont know whats sadder, the fact that someone that had so much and is idolised by so many is slowly fading away, or the fact that our culture feels the need to capitalise on someones demise.
  20. OK, I'm guessing not many people will give a shit about this - doubt theres too many dance fans on the forum, i'm not hugely into it but I like felix. anyway, went to see him at Snafu on Friday night, 16 quid a ticket - we had tickets.....and we didn't fucking get in! It was midnight when we got there and theyd oversold the gig - ie. let too many people in at the door at the bouncers were turning everyone away. so after half an hour in the freezing cold we got a refund. its an absolute fucking joke that you can buy a ticket for a gig and not get in. if that had been a proper band ie. biffy at the music hall and I didn't get in, i'd have been absolutely furious, especially seeing as I had a ticket. snafu were fucking useless about it, the manager game down and spouted us a load of lies and then tried to get us to go and see some fucking techno DJ at subway instead of taking a refund. i draw the line at subway, if i wanted to spend the night with pale, pilled, sweating lunatics then i'd go to liquid on a saturday night.
  21. yeah definitely a good lineup. could do without apocalyptica though. Been to oxegen in Ireland, same lineup (and weekend) as T-in the park but with more drunken paddies, like meself. roskilde is meant to be the best festival in europe, couldn't tell you if it actually is though. Mike
  22. This year we want people in Aberdeen to actually realise who we (Killing Time) are, so we're going to take every single gig we can get. also recording another demo in February or March, and writing loads of new songs. Oh we're playing Drummonds for the third time with Pure Lead in early February so come along if you fancy it. Mike
  23. Green Day - Dookie - once i heard it, i was never the same again - and everything else theyve ever done Metallica - Black album and master of puppets The Smiths - Best of Blur - Parklife The Blues Brothers - OST Oasis - Definitely maybe
  24. I'm at home in Northern Ireland at the minute, so missed out on the festivities in Aberdeen. And what's more, wherever I went will bare no relevance to anyone who's never been to Bangor, Co. Down. Which at a guess, would be a good 99.99% of you. Anyway I got a bit pissed at a mates house, went into Bangor, went to 'The Sumo Lounge' which used to be called the 'Boom Boom Room' - it was fucking 15 a ticket! It wasn't too bad though, I was expecting a shitload of neds to be there and ruin the night but thankfully there weren't many. And i ended up walking 5 miles back to my house at 4am smoking a joint with someone I'd never met before. wayhey.
  25. Looking at some of my favourite British bands' websites, I've realised that a lot of them when touring and playing Aberdeen, used to play in a venue called 'The Capitol' - I was just wondering if any of the older members of the forum could tell me anything about it - and if anyone knows of a website with details on it. Thanks Mike
