  1. If you read the news today and generally online there seems to be lots of people going MENTAL about last nights episode! (for those who havent seen it - i wont spoil it but those who have will know..) I have to admit it was pretty disturbing for a TV show but i think it should be because it hits home that that kind of thing goes on all the time. It seemed very realistic as opposed to TV esque as youd expect from Shane Meadows and that suited the nature of what was being done. It was unpleasant to watch because it was a horrible act to commit. My mind still wandered back to it today and couldnt get over in hindsight how bad it was. So if it makes people think about it it must be a good thing. I dont normally follow TV shows but I think overall TIS86 has been pretty strong and funny/sad in equal measure. The last 15 minutes of last night were brutal but really well shot with the flicking between the football and the other aspects. I think its been really well written so far and set up a cracking final episode. What do others think?
  2. Not long to go now. Stage times to follow. John Knox Sex Club are well worth a look if your interested.

  4. Houlette on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads Gleaning together a mix of distinctively folk, french and early pop influences, comes Melbourne based band Houlette radiating a timely charm, performing lyrically evocative songs punctuated with bursts of dark intermissions and sultry sounds. Houlette recorded their first 7" THE ESCAPE, in February 2008 and released exclusively on EXO Records and have also recorded a limited edition EP, Sans Soleil, with Nick Huggins. The EP was sold exclusively during their first international tour of Europe (performing several shows in the UK, Paris and Barcelona). Houlettes debut Album Bless Bless is out now and has been hailed as one with... "Gainsbourg pretensions with a love of '60s French pop, they launch here with a psychedelic twist on dreamy romantic lullabies. Flush with battlefield drums, warm guitars and sailing strings...her voice, breathy and full of flight..." - Beat Magazine.
  5. Exactly true im afraid Lucky, it is needed. Nice one Daryl - what i was going to say. Maybe on shows where there is no monitor engineer i could suggest it come down but as well as Daryls points it usually also stops the stage being as reachable for any nutters trying to get on!
  6. APA are proud to present... SATURDAY 5TH FEBRUARY 2010 THE LEMON TREE THE GO! TEAM! 7.00pm 14.00 TICKETS ON SALE 17TH SEPTEMBER AT 9am FROM: THE LEMON TREE LOUNGE : Productions : The Go! Team The Go! Team are an English, Brighton-based sextet. With founder Ian Parton, they have pushed the boundaries of indie rock and garage rock in a unique style, incorporating two drum kits and an imitative mixture of 1970s car chase themes, double dutch chants, old hip hop and loud guitars similar to the style of Sonic Youth. Their songs are a mix of live instrumentation and samples from various sources. The band's recorded material is seen as somewhat a separate entity to their live performances. While live vocals are handled mostly by Ninja, with Tsuchida and Fukami-Taylor also singing some solos, vocals on record are a mixture of random sampled voices, MCs sampled from old school hip hop, guest singers/rappers and actual band members. They will play the Lemon Tree as part of the promotional tour to promote their third album which is scheduled for an early 2011 release. The tour was also announced in the NME today: The Go! 9. Its been a positive week for the single release... Firstly, I confirmed a gig in Berlin for October which will be amazing. Details to follow I guess. Secondly, Edwyn Collins himself gave us the approval for our Rip it Up cover by describing it as "properly funky" and tweeting about it! And Thirdly, nice little blog site Cat on the Wall have included Best of Times on their podcast alongside the Twilight Sad, Maps + Atlases and Low Sea. You can here it here: What We Like Part 6 by catonthewall | Mixcloud - Re-think radio New dates are up on the myspace now (including November's album launch): STEVEN MILNE on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads

  11. Thanks for the kind words Callum. Being Human is a pared down, different keyed version of the song Human Being from the Album and in hindsight i like it better than the album version but theyre very different. Glad you liked it. Changs artwork is nice too!

Being Human the type of pop sensibility associated with Edwyn Collins. - The Scotsman "...Steven is a naturally beautiful performer, with a talent and voice coming across so effortless and yet so graceful. " - Music News Review The singing, musicianship and production (courtesy of Iain Macpherson) on the album are consistently impressive. But more than the sum of their parts are the songs themselves they are heartfelt, warm, sumptuous and little bit maudlin; perfect from those introspective autumnal moments - Trend Magazine Steven has shared the stage with acts such as Lightspeed Champion, Malcolm Middleton, Simple Kid, Frightened Rabbit, The Rumblestrips, Ed Harcourt, Electric Soft Parade, Eugene McGuiness and The Wave Pictures. 16. Tickets still available for this in the box-office, seems to be a misunderstanding that its sold out - its not!
  17. There will be no support on Sunday, the night is an evening with the New York Dolls. However, there will be a warm up DJ set by none other than Psychedelic Jim playing the cream of his always impressive / impeccable rare collection of records to set the tone for the evening.
  18. Support hasnt been confirmed yet but will be an accoustic act (due to sheer logistics of setting up in front of the dolls setup). Will post up here asap. Stage times are likely to be 7.45pm and 8.30pm respectively. Still tickets left for anyone who hasnt got.
  19. Really looking forward to playing on Saturday. Got a wee warm up gig in Edinburgh as part of the Edge Festival with Three Blind Wolves (if anyone reads this and is Edinburgh based) the night before. Got 4 new songs to out this weekend and in the studio the week after. Roll on LKs album 2....soon...hopefully.
  20. I know all promoters say this and usually Id try to avoid doing but its worth pointing out tickets are selling very well for this so if your swithering id say to get in early. Graeme - no worries re hijack - its a shame its same night but only night i could get them. Like a lot of others ill be trying to do both gigs - but avoiding booze as i have to move flat first thing the next day and will likely be nursing a post Wizard hangover. Theres a decent documentary on New York music on I-player at the moment which has a fair chunk on the NYDolls in it which i found interesting and quite timely i guess with them currently doing the rounds - you can check it out here: BBC iPlayer - Once Upon a Time in New York: The Birth of Hip Hop, Disco and Punk And another one which is all performances of various acts: BBC iPlayer - New York Rock at the BBC
