  1. What is the point of this continuous bickering? I could almost understand another thread on this topic if the title of the thread was something not discussed in the many previous threads, but it's not, so I despair. Don't ban the march, ban pointless discussions like this. Saying that, I am very bored and its a few hours before the football's on so what the hell. Firstly, anyone that holds up the rights and responsibilities of living in a democracy as a defence against the restrictions of peoples rights are being a tad silly. I understand when people worry about racial hatred, but banning these parties is not the answer. We should not be looking at the insitutions but the people themselves. Racists will continue to exist regardless of any crackdown on their political outlets, because the root causes of their racism are not being tackled. Education is the only way to combat racism, restricting freedoms is both pointless and counter-productive. A ban on this march is a victory for them. They gain nothing by marching down union street displaying their weak state and lack of support. I am not saying that people should not seek to oppose these people, but it is the method that is important. A solid line of protesters lineing the route of the march in complete silence would be a far more devastating blow than a ban. With regards to the failures of socialism, I would point out that like democracy, it is still an idea in it's infancy, ideas need to be built upon to succeed. Stalinist Russia was as socialist as Tony Blair's decision to go to war was democratic. People that look at our nation as one of the great moral peaks of the world would do well to remember that the only reason Democracy is able to shine here is by pursueing some of the most undemocratic policies on a global scale. I suppose banning the NF would be perfect really, it may better reflect just how democratic our society is.
  2. i'm selling it to a friends brother for $175, (good god i need to change the keyboard config) I'm not especially interested in getting too much for it, I just want rid of it, ebay would have been too much hassle to get it shipped etc.
  3. what sort of destruction has the new licensing laws brought to monday night joys?
  4. PM: One thing I'm curious about is the name Pretty Girls Make Graves. Are you guys big Smiths fans? P: DF: It's not really ... one day try and name a band ... it's a very difficult thing ... It's just as likely to be named after Jack Kerouac's Dharma Bums, the name sounded good.
  5. They're not named after the smiths song.
  6. bumpy bumpy *also found a scanner which i'll throw in for no extra cost because i'm desperate/nice

  8. It wasn't a typo, it was just a mistake over a completely forgetable album. Did you not read what I said, I went to the gigs, and I gave my own views. The first gig with les savy fav and the apes was amazing, mainly due to the other acts granted but it was far more enjoyable than the t in the park wankfest. Also, "Sparta absolutely suck. They're just so workmanlike. Million Dead would probably be better" where in that post did you "just" say that you would prefer the support band. Your comment wasn't needed at all in this thread. Please don't act like you have a moral highground, it's laughable.
  9. well that is the most predictable reply from someone with a mars volta avatar. I don't go into HIM threads to say how terrible I think the band is. It's even more pathetic when you are obviously so partisan. Sparta aren't bad, they just aren't erm, very good. Saying that, Deloused in the cremitorium was bloody awful compared to the ep, so mars volta are probably more disappointing, atleast Sparta don't pretend to be pink floyd.
  10. What a bunch of petty little arguements. The whole "right to smoke" thing is a bit wishful thinking, sad though it may be, living in a state limits rights. So enough of your moaning about civil liberties, just go a long with it, or go somewhere where you can smoke. Swingin' Ryan, why on earth would the government seek to ban smoking if it wasn't such a drain on the NHS? Enough with the conspiracies against smokers. The amount of money that the government makes from taxes is bound to go down, there is no financial incentive there. I'm not overly bothered by any of this, it probably just means people will get fatter eating at bars rather than smoking, and then the NHS will still suffer, but ah well.
  11. tim robbins was better, and no it wouldn't they all hate each other.
  12. the only person fit to cover the scorpions is david hasselhoff.
  13. Nothing grand. P4 1800mhz 512mb of Ram 80gig hd, cdr/dvd combo, firewire and network cards included, the graphics card is fairly pants though 64mb geforce 2 mx. Not wanting overly much for it, just need some cash to put a deposit on a laptop for uni. I would be super happy with 250, but will probably sell for less. PM any interest, post any questions/pointers.
  14. my thoughts exactly. got me a knife in the water ep, the first apes album and the bloodthirsty lovers. It was frenchkiss overload.

I spent three weeks attempting to get Ross to play Rock me amadeus at Flying circus, and he did, and there was much rejoiceing. I thought requesting Der Kommisar would be taking the piss.

  21. The postal service is essentially an extension of a dntel track called "the dream of evan and chan" being the first collaberation between Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello. It works, but doesn't achieve the depth of the dntel album. I heard postal service before dntel and thought it was amazing, and it is, but the fact remains that the dream of evan and chan, more or less the first postal service song, is miles better than any of the tracks on the postal service album. opinionionnionionionion
