  1. there'll be less phlem ridden' date=' throaty singers in bands.[/quote']

Good point although not all would be sining with the voice of an angel e.g. The Method's lead singer doesn't smoke but has a throaty rasp of a singing voice...

I think there will be a negative effect initially at least (including the angellic poofy singing effect)...but hopefully it's recover as will everyone's lungs

The music scene has always attracted the smokey types so it'll be weird in "clean" venues...or maybe there will be an explosion of buskers across the city streets

  2. Yep' date=' weach to their own is a pretty good outlook to have I think. ;)[/quote']

So are there any rules and what of the consequences?

How far do you take that view e.g. wear a T Shirt with one of those overhyped Danish cartoons and get beheaded by a Muslim freak? Is it your own fault or is it the OTT reaction to your OTT shirt?

We're in a very liberal society with some very unliberal people on the go...but it only seems to matter if it's an ethnic minority who are being "offended".

Kids are able to access loads of graphic images through Web, Games and TV but only some are seen as being a problem?

All very complex and my head is hurting...

  3. I'm not in the business of censoring people's words and thoughts' date=' so long as they're contributing to discussions. I'd hope that the users of this website would have the intelligence to dismiss the above statement as the rantings of a neandarthal misogynist, who may or may not be "in character", rather than make it the basis for their future relationships with women.

As for "Jesus is a Cunt"...everyone's entitled to their opinion, but the ignorance and small-mindedness these people display for the world to see when they wear that T-shirt just makes me think "yeah, not Jesus, mate...look a little closer to home."[/quote']

I fully agree...but we're adults. Blasphemy and graphic sexual deviancy are still offensive to the little uns or moral minded folks and if it said Mohammed instead of Jesus...well what would happen?

Grainy, black and white, honest, unattracitve nude image...still not convinced. Certainly compared to the one earlier in the thread of Cannibal Corpse which is just plain sick. But it's a hard call on this type of thread where the subject is offensive art work.

  4. yep... i remember that one.... a mate of mine had it....correct me if i am wrong but was the album not withdrawn and some other cover used instead?

There was an alternate cover but I've seen the original version in record shops over the years. The Scorpions were never that tasteful in either artwork or music:gringo:

  5. It's full-frontal nudity' date=' and we don't need schools, universities etc. using that as an excuse to block the site. Likewise we don't want angry parents coming down on us for allowing their offspring to view images they may find offensive. Most people on this site will have seen the cover and wouldn't be offended by it, but as far as I'm concerned it's just not appropriate material for the site.[/quote']

I see your point although other bits of this thread and board are hardly fit for youngsters eyes e.g.

    "Jesus is a cunt"

"IF YOU DONT WANNA BE OFFENDED DONT READ THIS

"You are an object, an object for my pleasure. I can fuck you, I can beat you, I can do as I please...because you are less than human. You are a thing! A thing with tits, a thing with an ass, a thing with a mouth, a thing with a cunt. I will use you, I will use you and throw you away! Object! You exist only for my use, and then you cease to be useful. You are disposable, just like the rest of your gender. You are a fucking object!"

Brutal as fuck. one of the most offencive things i ever seen."

  6. Surely one of the most controversial album covers was infact the Beatles - ''Abbey Road''.

This' date=' as my English teacher told me, was because John Lennon is seen holding a cigarette. SHOCK HORROR!

The cigarette was then edited out on newer versions of the album cover.

    How pathetic.[/quote']

It was Paul McCartney with the ciggie...school teachers know nothin' :gringo:

It's been airbrushed out in the states now...PC bastards

  7. The Scorpions Virgin Killer...thirded

    *image deleted*

    Then there's WASP's 7" Animal F*** LIke A Beast picture disc

    waspanimalfuck.jpg

John & Yoko Two Virgins from 1968

    Yeuch

    *image deleted*

And the cuddly fabs in 1965 with the aformentioned "Butcher Cover" which was quickly withdrawn from sale after outrage from DJs and the like and is worth heaps of money noo

  8. Asda were selling the Purple Rain soundtrack for 3 quid the other week so it was swiftly purchased' date=' great album if a little dated in places. Around The World In A Day is also ace due to presence of Paisley Park and Raspberry Beret. He went a bit wanky in his latter period like.[/quote']

    Some fab later stuff too

    Sign O The Times

    Diamonds and Pearls

    The Black Album

    The Love Symbol

    The Gold Expereince

  9. He's a genius

I went to the Gold Experience show at the SECC and he played a set of new songs and had the audience in the palm of his hand...the only song I or any of the audience would have heard was The Most Beautiful Girl In The World.

How many artists would have the balls to try that / get the same reaction?

    A magnificient performer and musician:gringo:

  11. i was mainly referring to alice cooper and deep purple...

they should try to get Van Halen or KISS for next years one' date=' that would really rile up folks like yourself:up:[/quote']

Rile up? I'd just laugh  Both of those two would eat the Darkness and spit them out though...I'd pay to watch that:laughing:

Christ maybe that line up needs the hoary old timers as it's hardly bulging with huge names. I see The Sweet are there too...is that one of the original 70s band plus a few puddings? or is it just a couple of other lumps?

  12. Anybody else there?

Just an awesome' date=' awesome gig. I genuinely felt privileged to be only a couple of feet away from one of the greatest acts on the planet.

They were hanging around the bar afterwards as well, so I got them to sign my CD and made a point of asking them to come back to Aberdeen. It's not often we get acts of this quality, well done Lemon Tree.[/quote']

Yup I was there with a few mates and they were fantastic. Brilliant musicianship, fantastic harmonies, tight as f*** and lots of fun. One of the best things for me was their choice and treatment of the covers which were diverse and done in their own way. Toxic by Britney, Short People and Radiohead with fiddle and mandolin...superb.

The bass player doing his tap dancing spot is definatley worth a mention.
