Blue Gum Ears play the Big Bud Promotions night at 13th Note on Friday 14th May with Emer and TBC. On stage 9:30
"...the songs No Reason and Soul Release, which rank as high (if not higher) as anything Ive heard any rock band with good songwriting skill (see Foo Fighters, Vex Red etc) come out with over the past couple years. The former tune benefits from a well thought-out arrangement, nice riffs and f**ckin spankin chorus, as does Soul Release." Elevation Station April 2003.
" ..."No Reason" is trendy, happening and decidedly catchy, walking a precarious line between Biffy -minus the stop-start complexity - and more conventional nu-rawk i.e. what gets above #50 in the charts. Likewise, "SOS DD" has a chorus to grace daytime radio, with meandering metal guitar just on the right side of snotty to cause Dave Pearce to fade it out early on Radio One." is this music? Glasgow SEC and Rush were great
-
Aye and Primus got the worst sound I've ever heard. Somewhat miraculously the Rush sound was fab..... Which pissed me off as I wanted to see them more than Rush:swearing:

Damien Dempsey is playing the Lemon Tree as part of the Rootin Aboot Festival. If you like gutsy folk played with heart check him oot as he's quality. You may not have heard of Damien but he supported Sinead O'Connor (who does backing vocals on his album) and is supporting Bob Dylan.

Saw them play a song on the tv last night. Its hardly a tragedy that they've not played up here.
Saw them on the Floor Show and not impressed, indeed just another hyped up nothing band.

They were an awesome, very underated band. one of my mates sat next to Ty Tabor on the plane on the way to the States about that time!
Their first 2 albums were fantastic then they lost their way but a great live act.....three part harmonies and power. Seen them four times but nothing compares to that first gig

There's heaps of sites e.g.

I've got it and it's worth the listen, most of it works really well. There's a few tracks that are interesting at worst. It's an unusual selection of tracks from the White Album and features all of George's tracks and even Revolution No9 but the best is with Helter Skelter as it's base.

I'll go for 3:
Kings X - Network Edinburgh 1989
An almost relgious experience....even the band couldn't believe the reaction
Fishbone - Garage, Glasgow 2002
Fun all the way and a devastating band
McCartney - Glasgow 1990
Unexpected but truly awesome performance
-
They are a novelty and they will fade into ridicule ....or they are a sign of coming armegedon.
I've seen heaps of interviews and they just don't come across as even likeable
The Darkness ...a one trick donkey

Hopefully never... easily the worst band of last year. When we saw them supporting Def Leppard they were out of tune, crap and I've never disliked a support slot so much before. I find them annoying, Justin comes across like a twat, and certainly seemed that way when we met them, he just seemed like an arrogant fuckwit and I had to stop one of the guys who was with us from smacking him one as he was being so up himself and pissing off the people chatting there. I really hope that they quit whilst they're ahead because the joke'll have grown thin by the time for a next album !!
Cheers

Well said....
The bottom of the barrel has been scraped, surely no more.... although the public may wake up to the joke that's being played. The UK music industry is at an all time low if those clowns are lauded.

Great gig, the various styles of the support acts was refreshing and Little Barry are a funky "little"band. Strange looking guy though a bit like a wee dodgier Phil Daniels...but fab guiatrist and singer and the drummer's harmonies really added to the sound.
Although not into rap it was cool to see Aspects as I've not seen a lot live although Monkey Moo's bits were the best in their set. Somebody said they were getting booed from beside the bar area which I think is bad crack.
Back to the Bees, excellent although very very mellow. I don't think I've seen a band change their instruments as much but it all hung together very well.
