They have a fair few cd's but the best of is a good one to start with. Last time i heard' date=' HMV had it in stock. The dvd Dig with brian jonestown vs dandies is really funny.[/quote']

    One of the greatest bands.????

Just saw Dig this weekend. Worth watching for sure. Don't rate Anton very highly though. Maybe if he straightened up for a second and was less paranoid and grew up a little.

  4. am i the only person that thinks both the Clash and Boomtown rats are shit' date=' God i hope not. Both G A S H.

the clash have no tunes, its just shouting.[/quote']

Well I don't think they're shit but neither do I think either were god's gift to music either.

Geldof is a bitter man but some of the comments are reasonable.

  5. Alex is a good guy but I've never seen anything from joining NEMIS.

Also what is happening. I heard it was winding up and other stuff but never through NEMIS itself. Most of the info I got was via Jockrock

Is it still on the go?

  6. Seriously' date=' you couldn't make this shit up -

    The Clash spark terror alert

Man pulled off plane for music taste

The Clash and Led Zeppelin's music sparked a terror alert on an aeroplane, it has emerged.

Harraj Mann from Hartlepool was pulled off a London-bound flight at Durham Tees Valley Airport on March 30. He was questioned under the Terrorism Act after it's believed his choice of music made a taxi driver suspicious.

Mann was able to play his own music through the cab's stereo on the way to his flight, but it seems the driver did not approve.

"I played Procol Harum's 'A Whiter Shade Of Pale' first, which the taxi man liked," Mann explained. "I figured he liked the classics, so I put on Led Zeppelin's 'Immigrant Song'. Then, since I was going to London, I played The Clash ('London Calling') and finished up with 'Nowhere Man' by The Beatles. He didn't like Led Zeppelin or The Clash, but I don't think there was any need to tell the police."

It seems The Clash's lyrics which include "War is declared and battle come down", alarmed the cabbie who alerted police, while Led Zeppelin's line about "The hammer of the gods will rive our ship to new lands, to fight the horde", probably didn't help either.

Durham Police then acted on "information received" but admitted "by the time it was established the man did not pose a security risk, the plane had taken off", The Mirror reports.

Mann, however, said he saw the funny side of the incident, telling his local newspaper the Hartlepool Mail: "I was laughing about it, but all my mates are absolutely furious. It's just left me bemused. I can agree that there's a culture of fear. They acted on the information they had. I'm just frustrated that it happened to me. It's a mystery."

    Helter Skelter.o_O

  7. . Hopefully this year as well' date=' all the bands playing actually submitted.

    Cheers

    Stuart[/quote']

Not from what I heard. At least one band got through coz there mate was a selector. Now if I was said band I would not be shouting about it. But it just reinforces my opinion on GoNorth

  8. Where the hell do you think the blues came from man?

It's not all politics. Blues is about the shit of life in general. A good song is a good song no matter what ...can't say that a song has actually changed anything.

  9. I didn't get the "punk rocker with flowers in my hair" line either' date=' maybe its supposed to be ironic....

As for 9 million bicycles in Bejing (thats a fact).....I haven't heard such tripe ever....

Music really needs to get political again...something good always comes of it[/quote']

Agree with the Melua shite, I loathe her voice and songs. That's even before I knew Mike Batt was involved.

... but politics and music...never really works. All guff and no substance.

  10. Oh ? that is an interesting statement' date=' care to elaborate on the song lyrics and your understanding of them?

As I understand it there are Not 9 billion bicycles in Bejing but that did not stop Katie Melua dancing around like a wee pixie under a baby grand piano on tour, and raking in wads of dosh.[/quote']

    Take the main hook

Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair

In 77 and 69 revolution was in the air

Well that doesn't really make any sense. There's a reference to Flowers In your Hair and general Hippydome...Whiter Shade of Pale is name checked later on all of which, to me is the summer of love 1967...not 1969. Revolution was in the air in 1968 (French and US riots) but it wasn't very flowery and it wasn't 69 either..

Anyhow, it does nothing for me in general. But no matter I wish her every success.

I like KT Tunstall and some Joni Mitchell and Carly Simon...also Janice Ian too and still don't dig it.

  11. Only heard the advert clip so was most amused when I heard the full Ain't Got No/I Got Life and the mention of boobies...had to double take but yes it was boobies ...how childish but I still had a giggle :D

Got my hair, Got my head

Got my brains, Got my ears

Got my eyes, Got my nose

Got my mouth, I got my smile

I got my tongue, Got my chin

Got my neck, Got my boobies

Got my heart, Got my soul

Got my back, I got my sex

And is that backing the same as Elvis Little Bit of Conversation?

  12. I was about to say "WHO?" but I have heard that song a few times on the radio' date=' could never find any info on who it was.

Its memorable for all the wrong reasons [/quote']

Good luck to her but I thought that song was rank. I heard it on Johnny Walkers show quite a lot and apart from being average it was the lyrics that stuck out as she referenced the wrong years.

    I spent a few good night s o'er in Banff in the late 80s / early 90s

But again hope does does well.

  13. Do you come away with this crap just to piss people off?

Just because it doesnt fit into your narrow view of whats good.....get out more' date=' see the other side of the coin.[/quote']

Yes there's always something decent on. I saw the brilliant Nickle Creek the other week and might be heading in to see Bonnie Prince Billy on Monday. There's a decent mix of styles and acts.

  14. you've got better memory than me! I can't remember if they were any good or not. They were great at Donington though.

Support was from Thee Hypnotics at the Capitol' date=' I seem to remember.[/quote']

I remember because it was so dissapointing. Skilly was there too and Ivor drove us home at warp speed 10

  15. That must have been around September 1991 - I'd seen them at Donington a month or two beforehand as well.

    And never seen them since!

I was there and The Black Crowes were shite. I loved the Moneymaker album and they were just half assed and forgettable. The last night of their tour I think. Most depressing.

  16. This is the only place I know of' date=' http://www.goevents.info/.

Don't get your hopes up with the info bit at the end of the URL though.

I got to the site via Isthismusic? ...but nae great PR having to look for it via other sites.

I agree about the Edinburgh thing too...what's that all about?

Does anyone know who chooses the bands btw?
