  1. Within about 10 minutes of each other: Paulscoconutass Belmont st Yesterday about 4.30pm then... Lester Burnham Schoolhill Yesterday about 4.30pm Said hello to Sharon so not a proper stalk, Paul didn't see me tho...
  2. 100% agreed, it's an instant classic. The guy who plays Vickers, if there's any justice in the world, should get an Oscar. Hadn't realised it was improvised (obviously the bits with Christopher the Prawn aren't improv though?!), the phonecalls to his (Vickers') wife are just heart-breaking. The mothership over the city is just so fucking creepy. The CGI is amazing, the alien weapons brutal as fuck. Just pure fucking awesomeness in 1 hour and a half
  3. No kidding, I have two mates who've been hospitalised (in seperate incidents) while waiting in the old taxi rank on Belmont street. One of them was treated to a a broken sternum. Both incidents the result of people trying to cut the queue...
  4. It looks pretty good, and the reviews have been great. I fear it might be a bit of a button-basher though. I'll wait a coupla months and get it for 25...
  5. I forgot various solo appearances in The Moorings and Drummond over the last couple of years under the guise Hugh Bruise too...
  6. He's a cock? Anyways... Familiar: 1997-2000 (roughly) My school band that lasted into uni and kinda beyond. members included school chums Robb (now Bloodnut) and G (now making films, 'Ocassional Monsters' etc; and DJing Oscillations); and various drummers. This band eventually became Psycho A Go-Go but as Familiar we played a hodge-podge of covers and a few originals - but no real musical direction or coherance. Probably best known for covering YMCA in a punk rock style. Did lots of gigs with Killswitch and Clocker, Scuff etc. And gave the mighty Tar their first gig as part of the Aberdeen Alternative Youth Festival. Psycho A Go-Go: 2000-2004/5 The most successful band I was in. Featured Robb and G from Familiar and a variety of drummers, most notably Steve Dale (Dos Dedos, Cobra Kai), 'Fast' Johnny C and Dom Aviss (he lived with Brian and Craig in the Fudge flat for a while). We were a kinda punky-garagey rock n'roll type outfit influenced by The Wildhearts, The Ramones, The Monks, The Hives etc. Recorded our first EP and did a self-financed tour, were subsequently picked up by Newcastle-based r n'r label ChangesOne and recorded our second EP with them. Following this we toured, toured and toured; with bands like Catalyst (now Eureka Machines/Antiproduct), Deadloss Motherfucking Superstar, Rat Daddy, The Flaming Eights, The Yo-Yos, Plan A, Johnny Zhivago and of course our crowning achievement: The Wildhearts. We got a mixed reaction in Aberdeen at the time (not least because I was a mouthy little gobshite), but always did pretty well out of town, played London a buncha times and generally kicked ass wherever we went. It was good times. We split up while demo-ing an album that Ginger Wildheart was slated to produce, mainly due to exhaustive touring, no money, and excessive drink/drug intake (mostly mine, unfortunately). Never did finish the album, but it was shaping up to be something we could've been proud, but que sera sera... The Wyldehertz 2001-2002 Psycho A Go-Go doing Wildhearts covers, played a few Lava and Fudge gigs. Bit of a laugh The Tijuana Switchblades 2001-present (kinda) Started as a side-project to Psycho A Go-Go, with essentially the same line-up, but ended having Fish (Hot Mangu) on guitar and Nelly on bass, I think Dom drummed. We're an AC/DC-ish country rock type affair. Had many line-up fluctuations, currently have myself vocals/bass, my brother (Radio Lucifer, Bloodnut) on guitar, Graham (original Switchblade) on guitar and Chin (Sirius) drums. V-8 Deth Machine Mk1 - 2003 (I think) One-off band that played a gig for my then-girlfriend's sisters's birthday party at Dr Drakes. Me playing bass and singing, Graham Switchblade on guitar and G (PaGG) on drums (he had the sticks cello-taped to gloves). We played covers through a wall of distortion. G took the idea and it eventually became King Liar and the Brutes Deadloss Superstar Filled in on bass a few times - awesome, a priviledge. Radio Lucifer 2004-2007 Line-up: Vocals: Me; James (Tar, DLS, We Become Less, currently Shields Up): guitar, Craig (DLS): Guitar (he was replaced by my brother); Oggy (Killswitch, Bloodnut): Drums, Robb (PaGG, Bloodnut): Bass. Cpt Tom was originally on guitar too. Did a coupla less than successful tours, recorded a couple of EPs that I consider to be amongst my finest moments in terms of musicality. Essentially we were a really heavy rock n'roll band with shades of hardcore, pretty aggressive and visceral. I though we were exceptional live, really scared people sometimes, always blood, sweat and spit flying. Split up when interest dwindled and James moved to Edinburgh, then I moved to Toronto to join the Red Light Rippers Red Light Rippers/Chop Suicide - 2007 I moved to Toronto to join the Red Light Rippers on vocals, they promptly split the day I arrived, so we formed a new band with Staci Ratt guitar, me on bass, and Danyell (Panty Christ) on vocals, various drummers. The band never really got off the ground before I had to come home due to visa/finance issues, really enjoyed writing with those guys though, shame they didn't go further. Nowadays I don't seem to have the motivation for the band-thing anymore, was thinking about a band with Brian DLC, Keith Lorelei, Rass Atom and my brother, but I never really did anything about it. Sometimes still jam bluesy stuff with my bro though.

  8. I watched the new Green Lantern animated movie last night: Green Lantern: First Flight It was pretty good, surprised to hear cursing in it. Micheal Madsen did a decent voice for Kilowog...
  9. The Incredibles was good, but is a total Fantastic 4 rip-off Looks like this acquisition will mirror Disney's relationsip with Pixar: Disney Acquires Marvel - UPDATED - Comic Book Resources
  10. I doubt that it'll affect Marvels' comic out output too much. Disney bought the company to fill a gap in their demographic, males aged 12-35 (i.e, me); why fuck with something that is running successfully, and has done since the 1997 bankrupcy. At worse they might cancel a few books that don't sell, which might be a bit shit if they're decent books, but Marvel probably would have probably done the same anyway. Admittedly when I first heard about this yesterday, the fan-boy in me had nightmares of Wolverine/Buzz Lightyear cross-overs...again, at worst it'll probably mean Marvels' animated output is now shown on the Disney channels. I can live with that, I watch that shit streaming off the Marvel website anyway Upshot is that Marvel studios (the movie side of the company) will now have the full weight of Disney-power behind them, which should be awesome - time for a new Marvel Studios Fantastic Four, and Disney will have to bin The Incredibles... Make mine Mickey!
  11. I usually take a look at who is offering free tests, go there, get my new prescription, and then go somewhere else if necessary for the actual glasses. Shop aboot a bit ken? Also - if you need your glasses for work, your employer might be obliged to contribute to your specs cost.
  12. The dealings have been going on since Blair was in power, read back this thread or any news site to see that Lord (of the Sith) Mandelson, Prince Andrew and a number of Trade Ministers have met with Libyan representatives in the last few months/last year. Megrahi's release is just the culmination of what has been going on for a while.
  13. It might have been closer to 6pm, or I've said hello to a complete stranger, who bizarrely responded...
  14. Camie Today King Steet, about 5.30pm Suited and booted Said hello so not a proper stalk
  15. I could bring that album down tonight...
  16. Best keep it down, trying to read my comics...
  17. Prizes also include ticket to this! http://www.aberdeen-music.com/forums/gigs-event-announcements/57542-subhumans-support-%40-cafe-drummonds.html#post774420
  18. Our Libyan Agent is an amazing fella. Every time before he speaks, he steeples his fingers, takes a deep breath and closes his eyes. He also smokes the longest, harshest cigarettes I've ever seen.
  19. I don't, oil money from Libya (and North-west Africa) pays my wages. I work for an Oil & Gas supply company, in their export department, and have dealt with the Libyans for about a year now, they're a funny bunch. I was supposed to be going there at some point this year but I don't know if it'll happen now, my colleague has been a few times though. There's no question in my mind that a deal was done over Megrahi's release, I know a fair bit about the country now and the ways they work. I don't think he guilty anyway though. I had my first experience of a yank being rude to me on the phone this week, probably because I identified myself as Scottish rather than British (usually they wouldn't see the distinction). I find the US reaction completely hypocritical, but it's to be expected really - for a predominantly Christian country who just love to export their ideals of 'freedom', they seems to firget the single most important tenant of Christian belief: love and compassion. At the end of the day, any prisoner, regardless of crime/nationality is entitled to release on compassionate grounds under Scottish Law, and I think this is a good thing.
  20. You're mental. Never trust a hippy.... o_O
  21. A lot of these shows are on 4OD
  22. At the risk of looking like a fool, I really like Big Brother, and I watched pretty much all of them. I know it's mind-rot, but so help me I enjoy the parade the freaks and morons; and it occassionally makes for fascinating viewing from a psychological perspective. Admittedly it gave birth to the horrendous culture of talentless celebrity we now endure, but there have been some classic moments of TV gold. Ironically, I think the new series has been one of the best. Bring back BITZ! Emily Booth...hmmm....

  24. I dressed up like the first generation Megatron a few years ago for Hallowe'en, the costume was ace, but very difficult to move around in (it mostly comprised siver cardboard boxes and silver and black tubing, including his arm-mounted fusion cannon). Unfortunately my then-girlfriend threw a wobbler about something so hardly anyone saw me in it and I ended up ditching it in the Morrisons car park. Would've loved to have seen the faces of Morrisons employees the next morning when they're greeted at work by Megatron's empty shell...
