  1. although I'm a bassist myself in no particular order: marty friedman jhon petrucci cesareo but above all there is the hawg hwo is best at what he does and everybody knows what he does (gawd damit)
  2. hogg NOT YET!!!! damn it!
  3. just out oif curiosity what band are you in? i dont know if i can make it i'm working that night
  4. well the fact is that yes ypu need some treble but thats where the high part of the neck come in handy. second the 2 + basses should not follow the same organisation of "normal" bands yes you need a melody and accompainment BUT anybody can do it. is a bit like a canon but not so boring where spot light parts are equally distributed among the elements of the band
  5. since you couldn't give 2 shits why are you asking.
  6. any other ideas? i'm open to evertything except deth/gore/grind metal.... dont like noise i prefere music
  7. first of all i'd like to say that i know is not a new idea but i had thi 2 basses thing since i was about 17-18 but never found anybody interested i have a 6 and a 5 fretless and i'm open to any sort of musyc probably more in the prog rock meets heavy area nothing too extreme just a good load of technical stiles and a lot of fun. if its a 3 basses its even better but the drummer has to be solid as fuck.
  8. i am a bass player looking for another bass player drums and vocals to do an all bass band no mega ego guitarist just solid people start for fun might do something
  9. really anything goes... not only metal i ripped off some drum anmd bass songsa as well as classical of course i have the dicency to hide it out one way or another
  10. to go back to the sustain... ive got 4 basses 2 nechthrough and 2 boltons. the neckthroughs have at least duble the sustaine than the bolt on how do ypu explain that? i do agree on the subjectivity of instruments i personally hate every fender in circulation because are the most uncomfortable thing to play and tghe sound is too nasal but i seem to understand that is the most popular make in abdn.... anyway personal experience is what makes us different musican with different tastes....
  11. it is sweet! infinite possibilities use the low strings b e a to create thundering bass lines and the high strings d g c for smooth intros or sweet bridges. dont need exedengly big hands youl have to adjust your left hand technique. also getting used to the extra string(s) takes a while
  12. indeed but you have to take in consideration the sound. slap on some effects and you could not care less. BUT if, like me, dont use effect end rely solely on the bass performance a neckthrough gives more sustain. also the whole instrument resonate to give a fuller softer sound.
  13. i wonder hoe the latex strings work. maybe with some iron dust in the latex mix.... i wonder
  14. cool i wander if they make a panda bass
  15. true indeed craig... woods aere the most important... i have a bass made of chipboard ok it was 70 new but still is heavy has got no sustain no matter what i do to the intonation is always of pluss is metallized red. also construction is pricey get a neckthrough and compare it to a bolt on then you get the idea
  16. actuaally the distance of the fret is rilavant since the three variables of a string are length tension and mass (given by material and diameter) the frets can be changed but only in relation to the length of the neck. if you change the distance of the individual frets youll end up with very different notes that don't follow the semitone progression
  17. right before i can explain what i ment by short octave i have to do a bit of background knowledge. if you take the friquency of a standard a (440 Mh) and the frequency of the next a up (god knows what) subtract the smaller number from the bigger divide by 7 you get what should be the difference from one note to anopthe unfortunately does not work like that. now if you take a fitfth interval (bog standard power chord) is not a real fifth frequency wise but is slightly short of one. again if you ty to tune a guitar only with armonics you'll find yourself with a very out of tune hi e if you want some mathematical information about this check out http://www.skytopia.com/project/scale.html for any more questions just fire out
  18. right said spoonie... i like challenging bass lines. a riff that is a bugger to learn but once you got it to a smooth sequence is a rewarding feeling. unfortunately i'm so ignorant about bass players and other i only know a couple which are my main influences. as for amps is like colours everyone has theyr own favorite.
  19. hey even if it was 5 per effect id go around with a utterly butterly spread box. the problem is that i know as much about electronics as a wall would.
  20. if i go for a multi fx i want at least an expression pedal i wouldnt mind shoing of with a bit of wah
  21. on a for strings bass is cool but when you gotta tune 7 is a bit of a problem specially when the low a is so low that you canna hear the waves. the only problem with tuning wityh harmonics is that you arent really tuning... try it on a guitar and youll see what i mean, the perfect fifth of harmonics does not fit with the short octave of modern tuning... its a frequency thing
  22. well said tav. to go back to the single effect combination... it will get a bit expencive and quite difficult to carry around... admitedly ive seen planks of wood used but still... but i know that im gonna buy the korg 18 from bruce millers and go back to what i was using... sad old me
  23. sorry but that went right over mi head.. what do thay do? i dont want any distorsion, cant stand it on the bass. id like a flanger, compressor and an eq so i can boost up volume during the song. ive been sugested a zoom 206II or was 506II cant really remember
  24. Right! since i started the thread i guess i have to chip in with gear and the lot... well I've got a jacaranda workshop six strings custom neck through.. a beauty and a beast at the same time with its 18v amg actives. tell you the trouth tyhe only amp i can p[lay with is the good old trace elliot. unfortunately now trace is three time the prtice and a third the quality so i've been told. style? anything going... slap, pop, finger, pick and id love to play some decent tapping. i almost forgot my animal has a lovely detuner on the b string so i can go from standard b to drop a eith the flic of a finger. i whish i had a picture of it but i dont
  25. i just lost my tuner... :swearing: so i thought i might give in to the temptation of a bass multieffect but i have no idea of what to get or anythings :help: please help :help:
