  1. so many, it's crazy...I've got a pal (Mike Palace), who is "horchata", and his free soundscape / ambient lp ("Isolated House") is available here : www.darkwinter.com it's several tracks made up of field recordings from an old burnt out house...ace for falling asleep to. Click on the "Audio" link, and look at how much "music" you can download for boogerall. If you like that sort of thing.

  2. Nice one man, you are now officially the metal Richard Stilgoe, Richard Stilgoe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Legend awaits thee (or a spot on the One Show), I love a good pastiche.

On the other hand, 'Electric' by the Cult is one of the best sounding records on earth, and 'License to Ill' isn't far behind, so he has some skill(z), perhaps he has got too caught up in the Mastering Wars. I haven't heard the new album yet, but now my interest has been piqued on a technical level, as well as a 'what are they up to now'.

You could earn a wad of theoretical internet money for that one.

My mum got Stilgoe's autograph when she was on the waverly steamer...doesn't that sound like a great story....zzzzzzzzzzz.....

I was loving "blood sugar sex magic", I love its rawness...mr Rubin did all that, did he not?

  3. People moan so much over Metallica, it really becomes so boring reading about how people say they suck because they havent written another puppets or black album, who writes the same album twice? a band is always looking to try new things, yes st anger was utter shite and no band should try write an album using 5 frets! But come on Death Magnetic is something special and is what a great majority of metallica fans have been waiting for. I personally love every track off it and i must have very different hearing because i do not hear extreme "clipping" that everyone is on about, i noticed it in the pre release versions of TDTNC and My Apocalypse but the final version is brilliant.

I think its the best album since Justice, i have enjoyed the other albums bar St Anger but I have not stopped listening to Death Magnetic since its release.

Just know that Metallica will always be "better than you" ha! that was awful!!!

that's missing the point, isn't it? - I wouldn't mind if they wrote "good music" - even if it was nothing like their "old stuff" - there are plenty of bands that can come up with new, exciting, interesting music (even after 20+ years)....it's a shame, because metallica are the ones trying to "recapture" their glory, not the people wishing they could write better music nowadays. I get the feeling you might be one of the Die Hards that defends a band no matter what shite they keep putting out.

  5. book your hotel... NOW

Hilton on 6th st is the best as you can walk to all the venues REALLY easily.

it's MENTAL....HOT... and YOU WALK LIKE A BASTARD

I am sure a little colombian marching powder helps that problem, knowing the ruffian company you keep over there... he he

  6. stripeys banned so no worries there :)

i don't think i'm going to get down to anything this year as i'm starting a new job and moving house next week! i like the book though phil, done a grand job there :)

cheers dave, It's one of the first designs I've done that I am 99.9% happy with. I've really enjoyed developing it...I was hoping to get the website into the same "branding", but there is no money, so my dedication to it has been very "bottom of the pile"...NEOS - North East Open Studios - A comprehensive guide to Galleries, Artists and Makers of the North East of Scotland if you are interested in what it "might " look like...

PS, We're always up for "criticism", but of the constructive kind (wink wink)

  7. Cheers for that.

I tried unplugging and replugging everything in, but that has made no difference whatsoever. I blame the Durris transmitter thing, bastards.

our digital TV's being losing channels now and again...it can be fixed (most times) by swithitching the TV off (from the socket) wait 10 secs, and plug it back in. But, we have had some signal trouble too, so I'd plump for the Durris thing too.

  8. They believe fervently that God exists through what they have felt and experienced themselves, and surely responding to such a feeling could be considered logical.

This is axactly the argument that a friend of mine (who is absolutly convinced they've met jesus) said to me : you can't question faith with logic.

fair enough - but don't 'question' science with magic.

I feel love for my wife, child, family and friends. I can't explain what that love "is" - or how it manifests (other than a rememberance of "good times" and support)....but no finger could sit on defining "the feeling"...but to have a sense of "love" for something imagined does make me question motives.

It's also the convenient ambiguity religion offers, so as to slip out of holding an argument. it's all about interpretation and "reading"...also, the clause about humans having "free will" is also very convenient, eh.....God's a bit of a daftie for not getting the message across well enough to stop so many factions of christianity, let alone "other" religions getting a slice of the "flock" around the world.

If you love a feeling, and that makes your day better - that's great. but don't tell me that there is a heaven, where all the "good" people go - and a "hell" where non believers (who happen to be "good" in their life)....don;t even tell me that Humans are special, "the chosen ones"...cost that "man" with the beard fucked up when he designed us and set us free in paradise.

  9. i saw this yesterday which was rather amusing:

    Anti Spore

be sure to read the blog about their beliefs thoroughly. very clever.

that's an amazing blog...so many retards with knee jerk reactions...just goes to show that "subtle" doesn't quite work with thick skulled americans (who happen to think that they are clever, freethinkers)...I posted as "HIggs Boson"...but there are too many smelling stimakes in it...I should really run a spell checker before posting!

Gotta love stuff like this :

Gavinon 10 Sep 2008 at 8:55 am 6You muppet if anything spore teaches creationism as the player designs a race and lets it lose in the worldbut then again your from that slacked jawed bunch yokles who put their mouth in gear before thinking, although thinking aint really a big one with you lot now is it.

  10. Just to let everyone know that NEOS (North East Open Studios) is starting tomorrow (Saturday 13th September). and continues for 10 days (last day = 22nd sept).

My wife and I will be at the Gordon Highlanders Museum this year if anyone wants to pop in past for a chat? I've hardly got any work on show, so I am in it for the banter! (honest!)...I'll be doing some workshops through the week, just some drop in sessions using the PC & Gabi and I will be doing some collaborative projects too...get out there and see some art!

I've also got some work at Musa (video), and I'll be participating in a conversation about the arts in the North East at Mary Cane's "Ardo house" (about 8 miles north of Aberdeen)...check the website, as I always say "something for everyone*"

[rant] * unless you are a miserable troll who thinks that nothing in Aberdeen/shire is worth anything, mentally or monetary - yet refuses to contribute or state what is worth while (......sorry, my rant tag escaped me there...) [/rant]
