  1. I seem to remember you singing along to suicide, chilli ... which - as anyone who caught your dulcet tones at Puerto Muerto will testify - was very special moment indeed. still, joy division into new order, with lots of radio noise on top, kept me happy.
  2. no idea, but he used to work for DC Thomson before Geneva took off, I know that. I think he was a reporter at the Sunday Post, in fact. No idea whether it's true, but the story used to go that they got signed somewhere between being Sunfish and becoming Geneva after someone at Nude saw them completely by coincidence.
  3. Jamie, for a second there, I thought you were telling us you were the new Chair of the LT Board ...
  4. I might be a bit late. When are Puerto Muerto likely to be on?
  5. yeah, but you'd also have to employ a experimental sewing and crochet development officer ... or something. thing is, Drakes and the LT are, if you ask me, the two best venues in town - and two of my favourites anywhere ... but for completely different reasons. selfish, but I like them the way they are. although if someone could arrange for Drakes to be as close to my house as the Tree is, that would be handy. cheers.
  6. agh, how did I forget that? I also forgot The Wedding Present's cover of Cumberland Gap and, Elektric Music - Baby Come Back ... but that last one's between me and my psychiatrist.
  7. I was surprised I managed to get three in because, generally, Wire covers tend to be a bit rubbish. Although Fischerspooner's version of The 15th is all right ... as is Faster Solex! Drill Drill Drill! In fact, I could probably nominate a few for worst cover ... The Lightning Seeds' version of Outdoor Miner, Strange by REM, any number of third-rate indie stabs at Mannequin ... As for Kid606, I'm not sure if it has ever been released. I saw him at The Garage about three years ago and it was the last thing he did. If anyone knows, it would be handy, because I'd like to get it.
  8. Off the top of my head ... The Fall - Black Monk Theme My Bloody Valentine - Map Ref 41N 93W Schneider TM - Light 3000 (There is a light ... ) Low - Transmission Chris & Cosey - Paralleladrill (Drill) The Fall - The Legend of Xanadu Scanner - Eardrum Buzz Johnny Cash - Hurt Tiga - Hot In Herre Julian Cope - Non-alignment Pact Bark Psychosis - Three Girl Rhumba Kid 606 - Temptation Johnny Cash - Personal Jesus v/vm - Straight Outta Edgely Puerto Muerto - Sorrow (just to be topical)
  9. Oh, I know. I'm just saying that, just because it's now a Ltd company, it doesn't mean it no longer has a relationship with the Council. I mean AECC is a Ltd company, but the Council almost exclusively funded its refurbishment. The Council put up funding to support a new owner for Richards. If you're a farmer, the EU will pay you not to grow things. The list goes on and on.
  10. I think the Ltd thing is a bit of a red herring. After all, Accord is also a limited company ... and it's wholly owned by the Council. There's hundreds of potential reasons for doing it, on both sides. The black arts of accountancy, eh?
  11. I'll never talk. (buy me a pint and I'll sing like a canary)
  12. apparently, no-one told them that one of the 12 Commandments of Dance is "passengers must wear seatbelts at all times".
  13. it is my sad duty to inform you that the backflipping teutonic twosome died in a bus crash some time ago ...
  14. so have Half Baked and the Low Fat Frozen Yoghurts ... but they're not particularly big
  15. and while we're on the subject of euphemisms ...
  16. Dave, you're a foot taller than everyone.
  17. I too was subjected to frequent and prolonged exposure to Dr Hook and his Medicine Show at an early age, but it appears to have had the opposite effect on me ... given that most numbers make me want to puncture my eardrums with an uncurled paperclip. actually, that's almost a Dr Hook lyric, isn't it? "you make my pants want to get up and dance - you make my ears want to bleed ..." Personally, I'm rather partial to a bit of early Lonnie Donegan, but I'm not even remotely ashamed of that, so I'm not sure if it counts.
  18. cue chilli, carnation in buttonhole, sidling up to every Drakes patron - cold war era spy thriller-style - and whispering french disko? whilst clutching a copy of yesterdays Le Monde ...
  19. I think I might be contractually obliged to keep my mouth shut about this kind of thing.
  20. you do this deliberately, don't you? just because you know I'm the world's worst dancer ... still, I thought both were top notch at the UP Bip Hop night. I hope Si-cut.db is wearing his jumper again.
  21. Gil Scott-Heron once wandered through Glasgow city centre wearing a celtic scarf and a rangers hat, I'm told ... I think celtic had Scotland's first Asian player too, Abdul Salim. He was famous for playing with his feet wrapped in bandages, rather than wearing boots.
