  1. my money is on her doing herself a mischief on the ceiling during San Pedro might be worth pointing out they had a tune on the soundtrack of the recent Dawn of the Dead remake too, just in case people heard them but didn't know who it was ...
  2. you forgot to slam the door on the way to your room ...
  3. wire - 154, chairs missing and pink flag ... in that order several kraftwerk albums as already mentioned pere ubu - the modern dance and, to a slightly lesser extent, dub housing bit of the fall, joy division, the specials maybe? that'll do for now
  4. It seemed a bit studied to me. I think it's possible to try too hard. I mean, they were lively - I just struggled to find any tunes interesting enough to drag them out of the novelty quagmire. ... although I did find the bass player's mad speedhead staring mildly entertaining.
  5. I think Graeme plays Kasule at every available opportunity, doesn't he? Looking forward to actually seeing them after all that
  6. I think the fact that there was a willingness to even attempt something the mute night pretty much justifies the whole thing. I agree, however, that this year's brochure was a bit rubbish ... it was difficult to find anything in it, I thought. I don't think you'll ever get away from the idea of the Aberdeen leg being the poor relation, to be honest. Even if theres only one act missing, if thats one they wanted to see, people will be cheesed off and will feel left out. As it goes, there was lots of people at the mute night in Glasgow moaning to me that they werent getting T Rasmuchiere, so it cuts both ways ( I was sorely tempted not to tell them that we didnt get him either). I like the idea of a pass for several shows, although I understand it would make it very difficult to predict numbers - particularly in situations like Wire playing upstairs at the Lemon Tree. That's enough lines starting with 'I' for now.
  7. I imagine whoever it was that kept shouting for Outdoor Miner might well have thought they were shite ... I thought they were great ... although I still don't understand why they suddenly feel the need to play Pink Flag-era stuff for encores.
  8. I still can't hear a damn thing. The main offender might have been The Agfers of Kodack. Graham Lewis is a scary man. I actually thought they looked pretty good, considering there's not one of them less than twice my age and Bruce is knocking on 60. Anyway, 99.9 was worth the price of admission alone.
  9. as I believe I may have mentioned elsewhere: yahoo
  10. never before and never again, I would imagine ... plus, it must be over 20 years since Wire played a space as small (but perfectly formed) as the studio at the LT - it has all the makings of a real one-off.
  11. I think they're a tribute to Rainbow - and I'm not entirely sure I mean the band. And surely the fact the bass player looks like a cross between his counterpart from Saxon and Derek Smalls can't be a coincidence ...
  12. oh min ... well, that's me saved a couple of quid then. on the upside, I'm quite looking forward to seeing Kasule. I hope you'll be advising mr frogpocket on suitable car-parking facilities this time ... also, anyone worried about missing TG should remember that Carter/Tutti are on at the Lemon Tree as part of the Mute night on Thursday.
  13. I have been merrily bouncing up and down in my seat ever since David told me. Wire, twice in one night, 220 capacity space. Oh min.
  14. I really should be more observant with regard to the way the forums are set up on here these days ...
  15. The first record of a man called Presley in America came from Aberdeenshire! He must be Elvis' great-uncle (or something)! Course he is! This scientific research was sponsored by visitscotland.com
  16. Kevin Shields? Records? Have you heard something about the lazy bastard that we haven't? Anyway, I've just remembered there was an interview with him in the Wire about five years ago, contrary to the Guardian's claims.
  17. Yup, Saw them last night in Glasgow and I thought they were excellent - certainly far better than I had feared they might be. Not a kick in the arse off two-and-a-half hours, they were playing the stuff pretty damn hard and it looked fantastic.
  18. there must be something in the air ... Kevin Shields' first interview in 12 years in the Guardian yesterday
  19. sounds like a good night ... I was away at the football
  20. Excellent. I want to know if anyone took him up on his offer for the Liverpool biennial ... http://www.afoundation.com/independent/eye2/billdrummond2.html
  21. that really is a cracking website Dave ... I knew I'd heard them do something Tapular at some stage. I've always been a believer in the 'do it differently or do it better' school of thought on covers, so it's probably no surprise two or three of my favourites have been by The Fall. I think it was after hearing Black Monk Theme that I got into them.
  22. I thought he was trying more for a sort of Alvin Stardust thing. Oddly enough, I can imagine The Fall doing My Coo Ca Choo ...
