  1. I rather enjoyed Wire's entrance at all the Tritptych mute nights last year. No lights and Colin Newman pacing up and down then flailling around the stage to 99.9 while Lewis, Gilbert and Gotobed flash great big fuck off torches at him.
  2. I saw Suicide at the Electric Ballroom last month and, in terms of traumatic disappointment, it was an experience not unlike Wire coming round to my house; setting fire to the curtains; announcing they are all big fans of Shed 7, then breaking wind in my kitchen. In short, it was horrible. The ignominy of the house lights being put up while they were still hacking their way through Frankie was almost too much to bear.
  3. Interpol have some bloody horrible lyrics and, much as I love them, so do New Order. A couple of Barney specials on the new album: I feel your presence everywhere/In the corner, over there. Where? There on the stair? A little mouse with clogs on? Real love cant be sold/its another colour than gold. Not quite up to the standard of Crystal's wonderful: "Here comes love, it's like honey/you can't buy it with money", but never mind.
  4. hello mr chilli been out of town rather a lot lately sorry to hear about Drakes - anything interesting on the go?
  5. lcd soundsystem - tribulations cobra killer - six secs fischerspooner - just let go (thin white duke mix)
  6. I'm currently required, by law, to listen to Waiting For The Sirens' Call and Turn from the new New Order album before leaving the house in the morning.
  7. ooh ... http://www.lcdsoundsystem.com/live.php
  8. min, I havent been around here for ages must be working too much. or something. anyway, triptych. lcd soundsystem, you say? all three cities? call me officially excited.
  9. I've seen them in Glasgow a few times - with Mogwai, with Adult. etc. Damn good. They also DJ as Rottenrow (a hospital, for those who don't know their weegie infirmaries) a fair bit. In Mono, mainly, in my experience.
  10. Teenage Fanclub - Corran Halls (Oban) about '92/'93? I think.
  11. ah ... I've been waiting a while to find out when this was going to happen ...
  12. That'll be my fault. I was too busy trying to avoid the young gentleman playing air guitar to my left to do anything other than stroke my chin. I mean, air guitar? Thoroughly un-dugga behaviour, I thought.
  13. There's also any number of lovely Kraftwerk t-shirts, cycling shirts, mousemats, bags, jackets and, errr ... skateboards available from the KilingKlang Konsum Produkt section of their rather wonderful website. http://www.kraftwerk.com
  14. Hopefully this trend for cheap boxed sets will continue. The Minimal Compact one was only 15 too. Having said that, the last one I got before that was Johnny Cash, and it was about 94.72, or something. Okay, 60.
  15. I can't get to grips with the Academy. Too many X-Boxes and Playstations littering the place for my liking.
  16. I was the warmest audience member at Kasule. I knew I shouldn't have worn a jacket.
  17. sorry I missed it ... I was confined to my bed, sick at the thought of another rousing vocal performance from chilli
  18. New Wave of New Wave always struck me as a faintly ridiculous made up movement
  19. Gabba Granny 7? Do you get your videos from that ex-cooncil gardener who's always in the paper, Dave?
  20. Did you never see the John Peel - King of Rock t-shirts? There was some lad selling them from a market stall in Albania, or something.
  21. seeing him upset lots of people with self-consciously assymetrical haircuts and ironic trousers by playing status quo and lots of nosebleed gabba was one of my triptych highlights! i had to keep my distance though. I once drunkenly swore a sacred oath as saying that, if I speak to him, I'll kiss his baldy head and get him to write "John Peel - King of Rock" somewhere on my person ... then it's off to the nearest tattoo parlour
  22. well, I was another couple of feet away, so the impact faded a little ...
