  2. It's out Friday 13th August.... Captain Tom has a billion promo-flyers with the "out now" thing on them, and we all like to lie now and again Do come to the launch show on the 13th at the Lemon Tree, where BLACK ATOM will also be launching their album, with support from Double Jack and Belfast's prolific mentalists, The Dangerfields.
  3. The Misfits share their backline with no-one, plus the booking agent tells me the supports for the London and Bradford dates will have to be "buy-ons" (pay to play, basically). The likely lads will no-doubt be providing and transporting the Misfits backline in their trusty piss-yella Transit hi-cube. Distance means nothing to those dudes! You might want to consider erecting a stage extension out front of your stage, cuz by the time they rig Marky's drumkit, Jerry's two 8x12 Ampeg cabs and Dez's 2 full Marshall stacks (or maybe stack + half stack like in Belfast), there won't be much room in front to rig the drumkit and other gear for the support acts. Ghouls night out....
  4. Does no-one care?! Realise that this gig was the bomb last year... Don't miss out again! The full tour is : Aug 22nd - Bradford, Rios Aug 24th - London, Camden Underworld Aug 25th - Aberdeen, Moshulu Rock.
  5. Fantastic. Realise that this is their ONLY Scottish date. The other dates are Bradford and London, I'm reliably informed.
  6. The DSL50 is a good sounding amp. However, mine has been somewhat plagued by output transformer failures, despite meticulous care and cabinet matching. We don't even play that many gigs in a year, relatively speaking! My 2203 however, has been the shitz. Paid 300 for it on ebay, came with good quality Siemens valves (rare these days), and I pulled 2 and run it as a 50W head. Has much more "tone" to it than the DSL50, which sounds very compressed in comparison, despite what you fiddle with on it. The only downer about the 2203 was I had to use a distortion pedal to drive it, and I don't like them much. So I recently did some rewiring to it's innards (pre-amp valves cathode resistor values and treble peaking circuits), and now I can plug straight into the high sensitivity input with my guitar and get a great sound. I now use my 2203 as my main amp, but take my DSL50 as a spare to all gigs.
  7. Karl is a lucky man... First Sarah (although she was somewhat whiney, long faced, etc), now this fit bird. Neighbours is the only soap I actually watch, and seeing Izzy, Libby K, Steph Scully and Sindi makes my afternoon. Go Australia!
  8. It's a little last-minute, but we've been asked to play Rockers bar in Glasgow on the 26th. All you Weegieville residents do pop along... I hear we're rather spiffing to listen to with a glass of Cherry and cigar.
  9. People are quick to trash Bradley, it seems. In what little dealings we've had with him, he treated us just fine. When we played the Student Union and they tried to not pay us anything, he spoke to the management and secured us 50. On his deal with Starfall, despite the hype and all that surrounds it, he still appears to do a LOT more real, tangible work for the band he says he manages than any of the other would-be band "managers" on the local scene. Thus far, Starfall have played more dates outwith Aberdeen than some "scene" bands I could name both present and past. That said, I don't get why band members can't manage themselves... It's not like any of us just don't have the time, is it?!
  10. VoA got Phat Tom of 10EW to record them on his computer in Paul Sammat's lock-up. Maybe you could organise to do something similar with Tom? Finding the venue to do it in may be the tricky part.
  11. Here's what you'll get at this show.. :
  12. Yep, I think KLATB would be an excellent act to kick off the gig.
  13. Wow, are you Mr Potato Head...?! I hope you're also going to be doing the knob-twirling for the Misfits date at Moshulu next month... Yes??
  14. I'm listening to the mastered version of our mini-album, and MAN does it kick ass! I also know that the Atom lads have spent an age and total perfection on their CD, so don't miss out on getting your copies of both CDs on the night! Plus, there will be some GREAT music happening from all the bands. Please make the effort to see the Dangerfields at 9:30pm... They will be over all the way from Belfast and this is their first Lemon Tree appearence. Judging by how they performed and sounded at the Limelight with the Misfits last week, you really want to hear them through the Lemon Tree PA!! They'll also have copies of their "Hellride" EP on sale as well as t-shirts. Think Zeke crossed with Motorhead! Also, be sure to drop by One-Up in Belmont Street at 1pm in the afternoon to catch our in-store appearences and get a sneeeek preeeview of the gig. Fun will be had!
  15. I hope you folks who are going to this all-day thing will also take the time to come by One-Up at 1pm for the MIGHTY Black Atom and ourselves doing a wee in-store preview, and then come on down once the all-dayer is done to the Lemon Tree to catch both of us rocking the house down for our joint CD launch partay! If you love your bad self, make sure you come down..
  16. Hmmm... You know FAR too many technical aspects of musical theory to be a REAL soundman... Are you sure you're not just an imposter?!
  17. Even being totally objective, we don't sound much like the Misfits at all. Definately inspired by and in the same vein as them, but that's about it! The Misfits are a punk rock band, straight up, whereas we pull a wider range of genres and styles into our tunes. A bit of punk, metal, psychobilly, etc. As good as Vomitus are, I can't see why a Norwegian black metal band of confessed church-burners would be a good fit!
  18. Jesus, you people are never happy. You moan when no "name" bands come to Aberdeen and you have to haul your sorry ass to Edinburgh or Glasgow. Then, when one does come, around half of you start pissing and moaning about how shit they are when you've never actually seen them in their current form. No, it's not the "classic" Misfits. It's Jerry, Dez and Marky playing a shitload of great songs from punk and rock over the years, and playing them in their own style. Nobody expects to see or hear anything else. Personally, I think it's just great to watch three of the most influential musicians of the past 30 years playing together on stage. No matter how you "think" they sound, they still piss all over a good 85% of local acts that people flock to watch.... Well done to Paul Lava for siezing the opportunity to bring them back to Aberdeen for a second time. They really enjoyed the last date and I expect they will be really into a 2nd show!
  19. Wow.... Where do I start?? Last nights show with the Misfits was amazing... 500 capacity sellout, crowd that were out to have a good time, and 4 excellent bands on one bill. We went down really well, and the crowd really helped us play our best. The Dangerfields were, as always, entertaining and tight... A really solid set before the headliners. Sadly I only saw half of No Less My Life due to preparation for our set, but they rocked the big un'!! The Misfits themselves again proved the doubters wrong, with a long, varied and well executed set. Our own Ghoulmore being invited up to sing "Skulls" and doing a great job. Photos to follow!! Jerry in particular was friendly and great fun to hang around with pre-gig, as usual! We had an absolute blast, and can't wait to play with the Misfits again. Biggest thanks has to go to Andrew Griswold for promoting and pulling it all off... What a dude! So, on to our gig in Enniskillen tonight... Looking forward to it too. Then we have tomorrow night in Port Rush in the north, hopefully get a chance to see the nearby Giant's Causeway too. N.I. is proving to be well worth the money and effort to come over and play... Other Aberdeen bands need to take note and make it happen for themselves. "You never know unless you try"... More later, hopefully.
  20. Black Atom and KARLOFF! Oh yes, Friday the 13th August sees us deafen/scare/impress (delete as appropriate) the clientele of One-Up at 1pm, giving a wee taster of what will follow in the evening at the fabulous Lemon Tree. There, we have Belfast's own Dangerfields, local rocksters Double Jack, followed by the mighty "up and Atom", then culminating in some gore show from a bunch of horror addicts called KARLOFF. We'll have a whole new line of merch on sale, featuring new guys and gals t-shirt prints, genuine vinyl stickers, badges, pendants, and of course our bitchin' new CeeDee "Self Made Monsters". Be there or be scare....
  21. Ah, screwit. In case you're wondering, when I try and upload the photo to my Gallery (either from Imagestation or from my hard drive), it page just sits and loads, but the image does not get uploaded. Otherwise, I'd have used the damn Gallery
