  2. 31st January at The Moorings Bar: Scunner, Onion Terror, Escape To Victory
  3. Aha, I did spot your name in this month's first page. Good to see you got it!
  4. Plan 9 usually have some cheap back issues I find. I had tons of back issues that I gave away a few months ago. I do wonder where comics disappear to because you hardly ever see them in charity shops (or when you do they are often overpriced, especially in Oxfam)/car boot sales and I'm not everyone holds on to their collections and you dont exactly get a good price for them on ebay
  5. It's March to October. The NBA season has just started and Boston Celtics are defending champs tho
  6. Boston is a lovely city, really friendly place with some cool neighbourhoods. I'd like to have saw more of it but what I did see was great. There is a chain of indie stores around New England called Newbury Comics which are record shops and comic shops in one with loads of other good stuff. I also went to a venue called Harpers Ferry which was a 15 mins train ride from city centre and they have tons of good bands on. Cambridge is not far where everything is good there it seems, I particuarly liked the pub John Harvard Salem is only half an hour bus ride and a great touristy day out...check out the Salem Beer Works there too for some awesome ales! I also like Boston, Lincolnshire's Indian Queen.
  7. Aww dammit, I was wanting to go to Yorkston...decisions
  8. It's still November...plenty of highlights still to come I hope
  9. Early mornings on Saturdays and Sundays...maybe one night during the week, at a newsagent in the City Centre. Easy enough job and pretty good for students... PM if anyone is interested
  10. Haha no way I never thought i'd hear that. We were mainly a drunken shambles. Tarrant Off TV was pretty awesome though if I do say so myself.
  11. I remember seeing Persil at the Wild Boar a few years ago (part of Go North!) they were pretty good as I recall. The best 2nd hand CD bargain's I got was in Baltimore last year when I got a double CD of The Velvet Underground (Gold), Nirvana - In Utero and Give Up The Ghost - Love American for $1 each

    Local Bands

I thought this thread only happened like 2 months ago... Since then Katerwaul have became one of my favourites alongside The Little Kicks.
  13. Wants bands do you feel should get the recognition they truly deserve? For me, Mansun were such a brilliant band but always slated by the music press. As for today, My Latest Novel are to me, the best band in Scotland, far superior to the likes of Frightened Rabbit, The Twilight Sad and Glasvegas and their first album was the best thing i heard in 2006 but never really made a dent on the critics lists of that year
  14. It's becoming harder to get good bargains at charity shops because they have all think they are collectors shops and complete experts and now the majority of them are chargin 3-5 for CDs you can pick up on amazon cheaper and ridiculous prices for vinyl just because it is a Beatles/Dylan LP etc, regardless of the fact they are not first or rare pressings. That Oxfam on the Back Wynd is one of the worst criminals of it I think, along with the British Heart Foundation on Union Street (2.99 for free CDs from magazines etc)... That said, I do persist because it is possible to get a bargain every now and then...I got Pretty Things - S.F Sorrow for 1 along with a Bert Janch album or 1 from Barnados on George Street last year...score!
  15. Guns 'N' Roses...songs are bland, 3rd rate Rolling Stones, terrible dated production, annoying voice and the solos are rubbish. Why do people like them? The Jesus And Mary Chain...I actually like the Jesus and Mary Chain but I don't think they are quite worthy of the godlike praise they receive...(also file The Velvet Underground in this category)
  16. Has anyone got any decent pics of the night? Please get in touch!
  17. I thought Rolo Tomassi were fantastic. Much better than I expected. Didn't really like 1984 much although had their moments. Blood Red Shoes were pretty good but I was knackered by time they finally went on
  18. Preferably balcony seats...PM if you have
  19. Is this gonna be one of them early 10pmish finishes Paul?
