  1. hmmm... I've been trying to keep my posts quite low lately (usually when I post something I regret it later) but this one's making me a bit stressed. It really fucking pisses me off that the police make one mistake and now they're being villainised by the media and every joe-public that feels like it. I see exactly where people are coming from. an innocent man is dead, that is terrible news in any country no matter what the circumstances. But at the same time it just seems completely wrong to me that the police are not allowed any margin for error. what would you rather? that the police do fuck all while many more innocent people are at risk from bombings and terrorist attacks? If he had turned out to be a bomber and the police had done nothing then the media and the public would be moaning about that so the police can't win. I understand what people are saying when they call for the chief of police to resign but just think about it for a second... A: if he does resign then what diffrence will it make? that man will still be dead. B: public contempt for the police and government must be making the those terrorist cunts feel even better about the sick acts they have carried out. Now not only have they terrified our nations capital but they've started a massive nation-wide disagreement. As for all the nonsense about his skin colour or what he looked like etc... You people need to listen to yourselves. He wasn't shot for any other reason than they thought he was a terrorist. Does it not seem a little strange that a man who's Visa for this country had run out 2 years ago was shot for attempting to evade arrest? I doh't know if he ran away from them or not and quite frankly neither do any of you because we weren't there but I do find it odd. I know if I was feeling a bit shifty about the fact I wasn't legally allowed to stay in the country then I might be prone to do some stupid things when faced by the police... I'm not having a go or saying anyone's wrong but I just think people need to step back, calm down and think about what they are actually saying. It's not a case of simple black and white here, mistakes happen in every line of work and sadly that goes for the police as well.
  2. just heard "storm" by these guys and I really liked it. can anyone suggest more of their stuff that is worth checking out? Also, i was told they've split up, is that true?
  3. DAMN IT... when I find out who told you they will suffer
  4. i don't know why you're getting so annoyed. I'm not slagging aberdeen or you off, I just think barcelona is a nicer city to look at in general, it comes down to something you said earlier, Aberdeen is mostly built from one distinctive type of stone. However the predominant colour of that stone is grey. This, to be honest, makes aberdeen quite a grey place. Now I know why everything is built from granite so I don't need it explained to me but do you not think if you look at barcelona, with it's vibrant colours, exciting shapes and variety of building materials then look at aberdeen which is predominantly grey, built from one type of stone that aberdeen is just a bit dull in comparison? you might not, that's your call but I just don't really think that architecturally, aberdeen is a particularly stimulating place to look at. I do apologise if my saying that pisses you off but I'm just saying what I think.
  5. but the only reason chelsea got a goal was because of an OG... did they play at the stamford bridge or the nou camp last night? I'd imagine that could make a difference to next weeks game
  6. hate to say it but... I told you so. Nobody fucks with Barca and walks away with 3 points... Mourihno's just a sad little man who couldn't accept that they were beaten fair and square, first Newcastle on saturday and now this... looks like what was once a quadruple for chelsea has turned into probably less than the triple. And United? unlucky, but in the 2nd half they got played off the pitch.
  7. but Ferguson'll be retiring in the next couple of years (he's got a heart condition does he not?) so what then? More to the point, what happens to united when he leaves. I think right now he's trying to build a squad that'll be hitting maturity just around the time he leaves, but I can't see united having the same sort of success without him...
  8. Gaudi's a genius, shame there aren't more architects with ideas like him these days, compare Aberdeen to Barcelona for example... it'd be so nice if we had exciting buildings like those to give our city a bit of much needed character...
  9. I'm amazed by the number of people referencing Giger, I had no idea people thought that much of him. I'm not his biggest fan but the concept work he did for Alien and Aliens is some of the most imaginative work I think I've ever seen. Dali on the other hand is a bit overated in my opinion, he was good but not in the same league as Picasso, Duchamp(sp?), Warhol etc. I think Dali is often favoured by people because he's very easy to write about so he's usually one of the first artists that people learn about at school (along with Van Gogh). Also, no-one seems to have mentioned anyone except painters... does nobody admire video artists or architects etc in the same way they do painters?
  10. just you wait... 5 years from now Rooney will be the next Gazza: some dirty little mink who's blown all his money on booze, coke and whores and is reduced to selling various stories of his time at United to the Sun in order to fund his 40quid a day red bull habit. am I the only one who thinks he is massively overated? What the hell inspired Ferguson to not buy Ronahldino when he had the chance and instead pay 20odd million for a 19yr old flash in the pan who's been severely overhyped? It stinks of the business end of Utd getting their way and replacing one money making waste of space (Beckham) with another...
  11. I'm sure Aberdeen is probably the absolute no.1 european destination that Chad Muska just cannot wait to skate, I mean, there's so many amazing spots...
  12. that's pretty much what I meant, obviously i don't mean their players are shit (they've got Morientes and Cisse for a start) but like I said, they're league form proves they're not really a great team right now. But you're right, it is only because of inconsistency, still don't see them threatening for the title for another couple of years though...
  13. chelsea have the best defence in europe!? they're definately better than most but what about Milan? if Milan beat UTD without schevchenko tonight they'll win the champions league I reckon but my cash is on barcelona right now... I get the feeling Ronaldhino is going to make one or two chelsea players look very stupid tonight... more to the point, how the fuck are Liverpool still in with a chance? they're shit and their league form proves it but I have to say I'm impressed they've got this far in such a tough competition.
  14. as for the "plot holes" in FF7... I remember in a lecture a few weeks ago we were being told about how cinema goers don't neccesarily care about little holes in the plot of a film because when you watch a film you put yourself in a different state of mind known as the passive submissive or something along those lines. basically it means that you allow yourself to think those holes don't matter and just accept any information regarding events building up to those you are watching. It might be a tenious link but I think that games are much the same in that way. when you play FF7 (or any other RPG for that matter) you have to immerse yourself into the game world, you can't just pick up and play it for 5 minutes, so I'd imagine that when you're in that state you don't really question these things but accept them in order to continue having fun playing and seeing what happens next. it does pose the question though... Do games developers know this and use it to their advantage (i.e thinking they can get away with plot-holes and the like) or do the developers not know about this and it just so happens that because of this common human trait we tend to accept what could be described as a not entirely completed project? I hope that made sense.
  15. i like art a lot. Especially Futura, he's probably one of my favourites, and Chris Cunningham too...
  16. you know the film four advert that was on quite recently? well I need to know the name of the song from it, I know it's by Mogwai but I'm not familiar with their stuff really so if any one knows then that'd be nice. oh and I've tried all the advert-soundtrack websites, they're shit.
  17. i wonder what the spl league table would look like if they only counted goals scored by scottish players? also, it would be interesting to see how well the old firm would cope were a rule to be introduced that limited the number of foreign players allowed on pitch at any time? in short, I'm saying the old firm have pretty much bought their way to the top since the eighties and, as such, are doing absolutely bollocks all for scottish football, especially the international game. The downside of this is that the rest of the SPL has attempted to follow suit, but as none of them actually have any money they've spent the past decade and a half throwing away money (that could have funded better youth team infrastructures) on players who aren't actually that much better than our own but have slightly fancier sounding names... congratulations huns, congratulations tims. All you've succeeded in doing is trivialising a once half decent league and at the same time lined the pockets of countless sub-par foreign footballers who must've been laughing their arses off all the way to the bank...
  18. can you call diabetes popular culture? ok it's very well known about but I doubt that it's either popular or particularly cultural. i could be wrong though
  19. ahh but it gets better. From what I gather, this Rune fellow/fellowet has got some amount of beef to share with us all...
  20. only place I've seen lately was one of the pawn shops on George street, not cash converters but the other one on the same side. They've got a very cheap looking replica of paul mcartney's bass in the window right now, and an advert looking for staff.
  21. how eloquently put... Linkin park aren't the worst band of the year, they're the musical embarresment of the decade. I think the less we mention them the sooner everyone can forget them and start trying to make sense of their lives once again. seriously though, it can't really be the darkness (as much as I wish it was) because all they've done this year is butcher that bandaid song with their half arsed mock-70's guitar lines. My vote's on Keane, I don't think I've ever been as bored listening to a song as when one of their identikit, shitty, hollyoaks-indy ballads comes on the radio. Also, Goldie Lookin Chain are fucking shite as well.
