  1. The Boy Lacks Patience - Gig @ Tunnels - Wednesday 18th May Free Entry Doors @ 8pm support Hasn't been confirmed yet but we have some good ideas ^_^ (will add more details later) piano and vocal goodness (with some guest cello) is being recorded as an album soon, so it seemed a good time to have a gig before that gets underway www.theboylackspatience.com
  2. Postponed! The Boy Lacks Patience on BBC Radio Scotland Again - next Friday The Boy Lacks Patience on BBC Radio Scotland (90 95 FM, 810 MW) After the Competition Win Chris has been invited back to play on the show again this Friday between 2-4 .........i think that's all the details i have ^_^ Edit - Christopher has a cold which is making his voice go bad, after several singing attempts it has been decided that next week would be a better time to play, so he will probably be on the show next Friday instead - will post again to let you know for sure ^_^ www.theboylackspatience.com
  3. ace ^_^ thank you senseless ahh! voting over in 5 mins.... vote for - the method my latest novel (was that their name? quite liked them to) starsky or the boy lacks patience txt 80295 or email - tommorton@bbc.co.uk
  4. to spell checker...... he does a few relaxed things at Kilau (likely spelt wrong) coffee shop on Little Belmont Street ....kinda open mic jam thing from time to time..........and has played a lot at the Monday night Malt Mill open mic night.... He's supported the Simon Gall Band a fair few times and played the Malt Mill with Nicky Cairney......and supported Stephen Fretwell at the Lemon Tree and played a part in the Van Morrison Tribute Night at the Lemon Tree.....those are a few of the things anyway....hehe....an at my birthday party *L* He's only been back in aberdeen after studying music in manchester for about a year so that would account for not being so known....he's planning to record an album soon though and do a launch gig or maybe a headline gig before that....not sure yet......tho if you are interested check website (in first post) and it should be updated.....or maybe we'll be at Malt Mill soon or i'll post any gigs up on here Graeme......you may have noticed he did play that one too.....it's called Cross the Boarder Freddyboy......yes i was pleased to hear that they were from Buckie....i think it's a great representation that there's lots going on up here.....i suck tho because i only managed to hear yesterday's band and not monday and tuesdays.....tho they'll be playing clips of all tomorrow i believe.....and yes .....it would be really cool if they all caught peoples attention so did anyone have a listen....and what did you think?
  5. That's my absolute favourite.............am not sure if he'll play it today.............trying to remove pressure by telling him to play what he feels most comfortable with..........but i love that song.......... ps.....just as a general note to all...........this is worth a listen just out of intrigue's sake..........i got to know Chris largely on the basis of noticing how amazing (imho) his songs, singing and playing was............and it was a large part of why i fell for him.......so maybe it's just me and my crazy taste (and now i count as biased i guess)..........but i he's very talented........ (though there have been a few uber talented aberdeen acts (imho) who suprise me by going too unoticed...but hay.....that's part of why this website's here ^_^)
  6. Okay ....wasn't sure where to put this because there were three separate issues....hence i went for here.... The Boy Lacks Patience (christopher john) playing live on radio in competition...is in the P&J today and has his new website up and running with song downloads available ....details all below.... http://www.theboylackspatience.com Thursday 24th March 2005 The Boy Lacks Patience on BBC Radio Scotland (90 95 FM, 810 MW) Critical choice is a competition on the Tom Morton show, which is playing a new unsigned act, Monday to Thursday. The Boy Lacks Patience plays on Thursday!! between 2 and 3pm. On Friday there is a review of all acts - with music journalists - they play clips of who's been on and then the public phone and vote for their favourite act of the week (you can help with this bit ....so if Christopher is your favourite please phone in). Lastly but not leastly...thank you to the P&J chaps for the article with picture......but Chris just wanted to clear up a mis-quote as it could be horribly misunderstood..... On page 6 it quotes him as saying - "There's not that many singer songwriters out there, but i've had a really positive reaction"where's what he actually said was - "There's not that many piano playing singer songwriters out there, but i've had a really positive reaction" He just wanted people to know especially because there are loads of good singer songwriters out there including several of his friends.....Hehe....although saying there aren't that many piano playing ones he is playing Kathryn Sawyers piano in the paper photo
  7. that's intense..........i find things like this somewhat incomprehendable (don't think that that's a word or the right one) but i'm sure you follow my sentiment 0_o
  8. *L*...........noe it's cool..........i get to keep my kidneys here's me looking goofy in the hat........and then him..........have just added to my gallery on here so assume they should be seen ok on this post just low quility pics from my phone.........but gives you an idea
  9. ..........thanks.........yea...........i could post pics ..........may do that...... i wasn't actually there myself...........and don't know whether my ex would want to go though reporting it stolen..........think he feels upset and naive enough for letting the guy try it on..... *goes to sort pics*
  10. *ahem*..........long time no post huh? i felt to need to vent and have someone restore my faith in people..... Last night my ex-boyfriend who i am still close to was out at Exodus with the new black cowboy hat i got him for Christmas...... i had to sell things on ebay to be able to afford it.........have it shipped from America and wait 6 weeks or so for it to arrive but on Christmas day it was worth it to see someone i care about smile and be more excited about it than all the rest of his presents.........largely for sentimental reasons because it was from me........and he gave me a beautiful ring which is gorgeous .....but it matters because he gave it to me so .....outside Exodus somebody asks to try the hat on.........my ex kindly says ok..........then this total asshole runs of into a car with it which then speeds off 0_0 why are people so cruel and selfish? and why do they have a right to make someone suffering from depression that little bit more down? it's nothing to do with them......it's totally disrespectful..........i really really don't understand it.........they don't know or care what sentimentality is attached to things ok.......so in the grander scheme of things it ain't important........thousands of people dead or dying due to earthquakes with families not knowing whether their loved ones are alive or not :/ so why make the world a little more crappy? why not use their energy more effectively?...........i hope karma bites them on the ass so.........i am now going to try to fund another hat which someone i care about will probably feel guilty about getting and probably won't take out of the house as unlikely as it is...... if anyone knows anything about this.......help if you can rant over........thank you if you read it.........heh.........part of the reason i posted it was because i seem to remember a post Sharon wrote about having her hat stolen from her head on Union Street in broad daylight
  11. Indeedy is good (also 2 mins from my howse ^_^) COOOME PEOPLE COOOOME .......and as my friend discovered.........is extra good due to the keyboard (a rarity at open mic nights so am told)
  12. oh yea..........it was great...........and i love the way Maynard plays with stuff and changes it live ^_^..............i just have a particular affection for the original :O i know nothing else by failure.......purely that song......and i've only heard that version because of aPC.........*thinks* ........i wonder if i'd like their other stuff? i thought it was ace when someone shouted 'yer shite' at Auf der Maur (who are canadian) and one of the band members just went 'dinnae nae dae that' ......i giggled lots........i thought it was a great comeback
  13. *notices she is probably being ignored due to the other massive aPC thread in the feedback forum*
  14. i was all excited about the new album..........having been such a huge fan.........but to be honest it doesn't live up to the old days........and neither did Celebrity Skin.....don't get me wrong........i quite like the album but the fact that instead i can't stop listening to the New (Melissa) Auf der Maur album instead says a lot
  15. ah ha...........so this is where all the aPC gig stuff went (made silly little thread of my own)..............i haven't posted in so long that everything is in a different place and i post things in the wrong place and 0_o.........oh well........am sure i'll figure it out sune
  16. i saw her and her band play with a Perfect Circle in Glasgow (mentioned it in another thread)........and really liked some of the set and the later part i wasn't so sure on............however the album is compartively much much more captivating . . . . and i found became more so the more i listened to it
  17. i think i might be in love with this godammed album . . . . . it isn't out yet (downloaded for me) though i plan to buy it given it's so damned good and it was made using all Melissa's own money before she had secured a record deal i honestly have about 7 favourite songs on this album and there are only 2 songs i'm not so sure on . . . . i highly recommend the tracks . . . . My Foggy Notion Beast of Honour Lightening is My Girl Followed the Waves I need I want I will and.... 'skin reciever' and 'real a lie' are pretty damn good ^_^ it's as if she managed to encompass all of my main musical desires into one act 0_0 i find strains of Hole, Pumpkins, Pixies, Breeders, L7, Veruca Salt and even a sprinkle of Iron Maiden (tho i'm not really a fan personally) . . . and god knows what other magic so check it out . . . if it sounds like your thing i'm enamoured.....it sounds like something i've been waiting for for a long time
  18. i went with my boy and a couple of friends and found a few more people there.... like Tim Bench who rescued me for a short time while i lost people :O i also found a LynDsey anyway........i'd seen them before at Glastonbury 2001 .......though the line up is a fair bit different now (was quite excied to see a real live James Iha) As i expected the show was fantastic (tho i still prefer the orignal Failure version of 'the Nurse who loved me') i was excited to hear Hollow again (blew me away just like last time) and Blue . . . . the light show was also superb!........now a week after the gig am afraid i don't have so many words to describe it . . . i was also mightily excited to see Auf Der Maur (melissa auf der maur of hole and pumkins fame) supporting as i had always suspected she might have hidden talents . . . i was impressed though was not so sure on the later part of there set . . . . tho am also about to make a thread about how utterly AWESOME the album is . . .
  19. i don't think it will make us rich sweetie...... ......but it will make us gleeful and play better.......there's nothing less inspiring than the place being dead........luckily though that seems to ony be the case at the beginning of the night
  20. that means we get an extra hour........... not sure how it works for clubs.....................i'm sure i was on at the Lemon Tree once when it was Lifestyle and the clocks were going forward so the night was cut short......... but i'm not sure if there's an official rule on it in general at all ....an extra hour would be ace tho
  21. ....... pretty much plus look at my *listening to* section...............add some Cartoon theme tunes and Bowie stuff from Labyrinth and there you go ........tho i will still have missed out some beloved things yea Jim .....yu easy ............woo and don't forget about tha CONGA!.....
  22. ps.......... another thank you to Flik and Rob for da champagne.... i think it made me a lil tipsy tho :O
  23. yay for another sucessful CONGA!!! i hope people had fun last night there was quite a lot of dancing and we got quite a lot of compliments i played a lot of requests, but sorry that i didn't quite get all of them played i just hope that people liked the music, i try to make it very varied because that's what i like, but then obviously some people who liked the other stuff might not like it, but it's sort of about appealing to lots of people hence why Jim and I are *Mr and Mrs Eclectic* i just wish that guy would stop giving me shit every week, i know i play things he likes, but he always manages to come along and say something, smarmy and condescending when i'm playing something quirky or dated.....grrr......it's very very off putting anyways glad you had a good nite...... and i will be keeping note of those requests for next time also someone asked for Tori's cover of *Raining Blood* so shall remember to bring it next time and will put playlist up in clubs and venues sometime sune
