  7. i'm hoping she wasn't? only because i only noticed a Sparklehorse poster yesterday (too late for the gig) and i'd hate to think i missed her!
  8. 09: Quest* - Genetic Science (?) *Quasi
  9. i was in awe of their song Good Day which played on the OC a few weeks ago........ an utterly astounding song ....the keyboardist Andrew Horowitz won the 2004 John Lennon Scholarship Competition, presented by Yoko Ono and BMI, for writing it............(Horowitz also has a side project called the Toy Orchestra which sounded familiar to me) my best description so far for what they sound like so far has been 'the Beatles meets Queen meets Weezer meets They Might Be Giants'............but having just recieved the very eclectic album not even that can cover it......... no one else seems to be talking about them but me.........though they're big in their home town and starting to make it big in the states..........they haven't really launched over here ........so getting their album was difficult though i bought bits on itunes before the cd arrived so i could play them Dj-ing so check them out............i recommend Good Day first up........because it's an incredibly well composed and orginal though clearly derrivitive ......and after that Two Wuv is cute and v weezer-esque...........Greener is good.........and the Banana Man video is a must because it's as crazy as the song http://www.myspace.com/tallyhallcom http://www.tallyhall.com/
  10. maybe this is lame because i haven't made a post in forever because i never seem to have the time.....so forgive me for being a bit excited about this the Dresden Dolls new album was out today (incidently as this is music discussion my favourite tracks for now are - Backstabber - Dirty Business & Shores of California) anyway......some artwork of mine, a photograph i took of a friend who models for me to be more specific has been included in the album booklet (some of you may be aware that there was a competition) so here's the original & the page from the booklet
  11. i have a delightful Biffy Clyro t-shirt which i am selling on ebay..........i've been selling my soul on ebay lately.........or at least my old stuff due to a money requirement .....plus i have too much stuff that i don't use/wear..........anyway, i'll be sad to see it go but i'm sure it will go to a good home....it's also one i don't think you can get anymore here be the t-shirt ...clicky clicky
  12. man.........this thread is quite snippy 0_o i have too many things to say so i'll try to condense it . . . what gives a clearer picture......if you compare Monday night performance to secret mini Tuesday night performance.....to.........Wednesday night Edinburgh performance at the Exchange (not the corn)..... Monday she was intensely nervous......which she mentioned herself when i said i saw the progression.....i still think monday night was a decent set and the Momas cover was excellant.....Tuesday was a fun thing...........we went to see Regina Spektor.....(who i have to say was astonishingly good ...one of the greatest gigs i've ever been to) Amanda came on to do a song with her as they be friends from touring together before.......they then both became part of this Vaudeville Caberet night thingy at the Bongo club..........(which by the way had this hilarious comedian called Tony Carter ^_^ and these fantastic funny and sleek puppet guys called Caberet Decadence) ........it was all quite last minute and Amanda had to play this cruddy little keyboard (Regina was too scared of it......Regina is possibly the most adorable woman alive).....it was still decent though and the fun part was that Amanda had made friends with a double bass player ....who also played trumpet and pretended to be coin-operated boy while tap dancing girl poked him around......there was also the guitarist 'Mr 'Than' who had a fun song which they all played together.........the atmosphere at the caberet night was brilliant........lots of good acts.........the host was pretty fun too and sang Amsterdam with Amanda.......(and i think they'd all only had one run through) ......so by Wednesday Amanda was in full swing at her Edinburgh gig...........comprable to the first time i saw the Dresden Dolls...........fully made up energetic and expressive with a breathtakingly powerful edge to her voice............and later (also fully made up) her new found friends joined her for some songs.........it was an excellant set................i think not only was she getting her confidence back but she seemed to have had time to fall in love with Edinburgh .....and feel really at ease........also the stage was a lot higher up........making for the best perspective of everyone...........(although Regina was great Caberet Voltaire stage made for difficult viewing at times......and Moshulu is great it that you can pretty much see from anywhere due to the raised part around the dancefloor..... but as Amanda was quite far back and isolated and low down it affected the atmosphere a little - (not a dig.......a lot of venues are like this.......posssibly due to certain practicalities i would assume....like maybe the roof isn't high enough) anyway......it's still just an opinion.......but i think the comparison is important.............i'm probably biased because the first time i saw them they were amazing........and i can't say how i would have felt if that was the first set i had ever seen.......i also think that Brian IS exhausted........they have been touring constantly and Brian is a fenominal and energetic drummer.........and i also think monday was Amanda's first solo gig since way before the Dresden Dolls and i think it speaks volumes that although scared about it she didn't cancel the dates..... ps..........i think Lapsus have great stage prescence and rock star style..............i also think there are some good hooks and melodies hiding under there but i think at both venues it was difficult to hear the piano and vocals enough.........so i'm waiting to hear what the cd sounds like........
  13. was lucky enough to see them last december in manchester and at Glastonbury...they are in my top 5 of live bands i've ever seen........they are fantastic live they can fill a stage with just the two of them when often even a 3-5 piece aren't that powerful.... we started to wonder if they aren't playing the 23rd anymore because Regina Spektor is playing Edinburgh that day and they are playing Edinburgh on 23rd (Amanda likes Miss Spektor) and as we're going to both dates we thought it would be fun to see Regina too........quite like her stuff though i don't have my own copy of the album yet). Chris (the boy lacks patience) and i gave them a cd of his the 2nd time we met them (i'm too old to be a groupie really but fuckkit) after also sending stuff to them ....but no response since.........so they're either too busy or they hate it *L*....wen they come to aberdeen i'm going to bribe them with gifts that i made......eheheheh... but really what i'm looking forward to is them realeasing the next album so i can listen to 'Back Stabber' lots ...
  14. well well well........what have we here the boy is doing his own dirty work now ..........ok.......well it not really dirty ..........more good clean preppy musical fun... ^_^ yay........am really glad Christopher John is on the website now.........people needed to hear it ........and they seem to like it too
  15. ty very much..........sorry am dosey about these things
  16. thanks Ross just to clarify tho....does that mean they have probably refunded the postage (which i assume they initially charged) to my credit card? (i guess i should look at my statement...if i could find it) but is that generally what happens?
  17. that video sounds fantastic.......... ......did it come with the magazine or something? or do you know where or how i can view it?
  18. this thread make me put the album on for the first time in a little while i love it in a lot of ways.........peach, plum, pear is just kinda addictive.... and what's scary is the possibly just some double-tracking of her voice sounds like i chorus of children 0_0 but i kinda like that too ^_^ ...we also like her repeated reference to ...gnawing
  19. i know what you mean...... we tried to catch him in the Chapel on the Saturday night but it was too busy and it all went wrong so we caught his last two song set on the Sunday night...... ....and similary the drugged up' date=' drunk, oblivious crowd didn't really support the acts ....though he coped well with it.......the set i saw him play was far far superior did you catch the horror bride woman singing some song about her being dead i believe...? that was interesting.......saw her do her thing twice.... and i liked the champagne coffessional sold by scanty nuns concept..........that was interesting[/color']
  20. yay! ^_^ and we indeed bumped into him in the freakshow tent and rambled at him............the nature of Lost Vagueness and Glastonbury itself meant that we only managed to see him once but still seeing him again was cool........ can't wait till he comes back here again!....i hope! ...soon!
