  1. Don't suppose any of you Fat Hippies have listened to the cd we sent yet? Chris was promised it was next on their list.... Craig
  2. I've heard good things about the Vox Tonelab SE though. But then it's like a valvetronix in a floor board. I've got really good sounds using a marshall guv'nor pedal with a marshall amp. The Big Muff pedal (although shockingly built) has a pretty immense sound. Supposedly the Boss DS1 and SD1 pedals are really good for boosting amps. There is a thing called a sparkle drive pedal as well. It's a tubescreamer withe a belnd control that blends some of the original signal in too. Anyway, I shall be shot of my Marshall within the next week and will be getting an Engl head. Supposedly these things have a better distortion than the Mesa Boogie Dual Rectumfrier, but don't cost as much. Weird thing is, in America, Mesas and Marshalls cost the same.... Craig
  3. Haven't heard Bench, but one thing I've found is: Multieffects - craptastic. I have yet to hear anyone use a multieffect unit to get a good sound. Be it 505 or Boss GT-6. it always sounds shite, a big fizzy mess It may be because people program all the sound from there, and don't have it set up to interact with the amp. The only way to get a decent distortion sound is to use a pedal in conjunction with the amps distortion. Even a RAT plugged into an entirely clean amp doesn't sound very good. However, if you turn up the gain on the amp a bit so it overdrives, then push the front of it with a pedal, you'll get a nice sound. Even my MG10 sounds best this way, and my marshall stack definitely does. Craig
  4. Awesome - looks like we've sold two singles, doubling our previous release! The Jihad on Jazz Records business plan is working at full capacity... However Stuart, due to your requests for "something a little different", go back to the site and download the new b-side - Axis of Evil. The rear cover artwork has been changed slightly too..... Deadenstereo - giving the people what they want to hear... Craig www.deadenstereo.co.uk, then downloads.
  5. For something a little different, try the split single with Stigma in OneUp.... Although, we are a pop band you know. We've never been called a disco band before either, that's a new one (unlike radiohead, which is our no. 1 comparison) As for gigs, there are rumours of us coming up to the Moorings in August, but nothing is sorted yet. Unless any kind promoter souls are looking for a band? Craig p.s - track trivia number 1 - the song did have a solo which was ripped off of the intro to "rock you like a hurricane" by the Scorpions, but this was cut.
  6. Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen. Just here to announce the release of the new deadenstereo single. Darn, i hear you cry - "Must i travel all the way to OneUp to part with my hard earned cash for a slice of a band I've vaguely heard of, in the vain hope it will be any good?" NO! For the new deadenstereo single ("The Ideas We Have of God") is available for free for download from our website. We've also included some artwork (which has the lyrics on it) so you can print it out and make your own deadenstereo cd. The track has a slightly more complex feel to it than some of other work, but has, as always, a huge chorus. If it helps, it is the second song we play in our live set. Anyway, go to www.deadenstereo.co.uk and then to the downloads page. Hope at least some of you like it.... Craig
  7. For around 70 pounds and an ear moulding (done for free at NHS), you can get flat response ear plugs. These will cut all frequencies equally so it doesn't sound weird. I've gto a pair of orange ones I got from b&q that I'm gonna start using. They only really cut highs, so what I would do would be to set my amp first, then plug 'em in. I find the thing that kills my ears the most is the cymbal wash, and hopefully these should cut them out. However, things do sound really weird with these in, and you look kind of stupid with luminous orange bits of rubber sticking out. Don't think I'd use them live, but definitely for practise. Am saving up for a pair of the really good ones. *cough* buy my amp *cough* Craig
  8. My trusty marshall valve head is up on ebay. 50W of pure rock.... Starting at 350 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10171&item=3736100729&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
  9. i've got a few death cab for cutie mp3s. far different from what I thought they'd be like. very good
  10. Tossing the salad isn't a term for female masturbation. Tossing the salad is when you lick asshole. Mmm- dingleberries and cream
  11. The best thing about cracking one off is that it's sex with someone you love.
  12. I don't think of it as a crime. I somehow think of a bootleg as not being a "real release" - if it sounds shit then it's not the band's fault - maybe they weren't doing a 100% performance or maybe the sound quality is poor as it's some guy in the audience with a camcorder. If it's something the band hasn't chosen to release I think of it as just an "extra", and wouldn't say a band are shit off the back of it Can't really seem to find the words to explain here...
  13. My little review I thought the gig was very well put together with a good choice of bands, there was a nice mix. Contra - wasn't too sure about them for the first two songs. A little too American punk stuff for me - not really my kind of music. However I started warming to them. They had some really good bits. There was a slower song with no distortion, that was kind of chilled out. I thought it was a work of genius. It reminded me of the police and even little bits of Biffy Clyro, had a nice lazy slow clean guitar solo. By the end of their set I was starting to like them, although they maybe played for a little too long? The singer seemed to put across a bit of personality somehow which always makes me like a band more. The instrumental song was pretty rocking too. I liked that. The Staccatto Set - These guys were really good. I like the ambience they put across. The singing was good, he had a good voice. The musicianship was pretty good as well, the guitars and keyboards worked really well together, and the rythym section was good at playing just the right bits. They had good presence as well - the big pauses for the "I'm in love with a chorus" bit, and the german translation showed a real confidence with their stuff. Eric Euan - Wasn't so sure about these guys. i could see what they were aiming for with the sort of off-kilter rock, and I liked the sound they had (not too much gain for the heavy bits) but it didn't seem to add up for me somehow. There were some nice bits, but it didn't catch my attention. The guitarist with the white Les Paul's voice wasn't really that good - it's not that he couldn't sing but I didn't like the voice. Plus, it seemed as if what they were doing could be done with just two guitars. If you're gonna use three you really need to get good parts for all three. Overall, i think that maybe they just weren't playing that well - had an off gig or something. i can imagine deadenstereo coming across like that sometimes when we're not playing well. As for us, I think we played well even though it was the first time any of us had seen each other in a month and a half. However, we promise to have more than 6 songs next time! We've started getting pretty ruthless about cutting songs that aren't good enough, so now we have a 20 minute set or something. I suppose I could smoke a whole joint while playing our intro bit or something? Anyway, I felt pretty inspired by the bands from last night - gave me some new ideas, so I'll be taking my pink guitar ("the vulva") out for a little riff writing today. Craig
  14. Brian the Brain, I was speaking to you about an edinburgh gig. Craig.Kenny@scotland.gsi.gov.uk - try this guy for a gig during the festival in the Canon's Gait - a pub on the mile (we were meant to be playing sep 2nd but pulled out so he might have a slot for you) Try sending a demo to Bannermans - they'd have you. The phone number is 0131 556 3254. it's kind of like the Drakes of Edinburgh Craig p.s. as ever, thoroughly spiffing fudge gig.
  15. Don't worry, the Dangerfields will be worse - one of the most abysmal bands I've heard in a long time. The kind of band that all the hard work in the world won't make up for their lack of talent.
  16. Ibanez LF7 Lo Fi Pedal Product Description The first dedicated filter pedal for guitar, the LF7's voltage controlled analog high and low pass filters allow you to emulate transistor radio and megaphone type sounds. Best used at the end of a signal chain in combination with other pedals, this pedal creates wide soundscapes of far out tones that previously required a massive rack of analog electronics. The Lo Fi also performs equally well with vocals, drum machines, or in any "mixdown" context. On the outside, Tone Lok effects are equipped with Ibanez' exclusive "set and forget" Push-Lok rotary pots. Push the knobs down and your tone settings lock securely inside the case. No more lost settings or knobs broken by ticked off lead vocalists stomping off the stage. On the inside, Tone Lok pedals feature hi-fidelity components carefully tweaked with the constant input from a new generation of Ibanez players. And all this great stuff comes encased in cool looking, road tough metal boxes at prices the working player can afford.
  17. Before they were called the Crash Test Dummies, they were going to call themselves The Chemotherapists. I slept with Robert Plant's second Cousin while she was (half) wearing a nurse's outfit. Quite tidy too!
  18. Easy tiger! Did you honestly think I was being serious? If you did, you're a bit quick to call someone else retarded. Craig
  19. NEVER HAVE A WANK BEFORE - You'll lose your edge and girls can tell if your sacs are empty. They have a weird 6th sense for it and can tell you are useless to them Save the ejaculation for some dumb slut's face afterwards. On this note - if there's a bird you fancy, tell her about how nervous you are now and get the sympathy vote. Then, if you strut your stuff like a true rock god - you just got laid. Remember - we all got in a band to get chicks, no matter what you tell yourself. Craig
  20. ok, all sounds good. Can you let me know if there will be a guitar cabinet there i can use? I accidently penetrated mine with a screwdriver while screwing it, and broke its hymen (cone). And while it still works, it may rip itself into little pieces when i turn it up to full rock volume. That would be cool to watch, but won't sound very true to our patented "new radiohead / bunch of indie fags" sound.... Craig
