  1. Dude easy... just because I don't agree with your choice of cover?? It's a graphical representation of my feelings towards that song' date=' I personally (note: [b']in my opinion) think that it is out of place with the rest of the set, it doesn't seem to sit right at all. Please, I know not many people here have the fortitude to offer criticism to you, but this is my thoughts. It kinda degreades what is otherwise a very strong set - sure it's funny/a good laugh/etc, but for me, it doesn't work!

It isn't about the criticism... you don't play in a band for seven years and not learn how to take criticism (especially when your band is absolutely fucking rubbish for the first four or so years ;) ). It's about that fucking smiley. It just makes you seem really arrogant, now it's ok because I know who you are, but online it makes you seem like one of these people who refuses to see anybody elses opinions... in the best metal band thread we all agreed that opinion is subjective... Dayeth wasn't WRONG for saying Metallica are the best metal band, even if we don't agree with him. Likewise, you're not neccessarily right about Blind Guardian being amazing (nor am I right in saying they are shit)... it's not about that, it's about this smiley making you look as if you're telling everyone off for having their own opinion :nono: I'd just appreciate it if you wouldn't use it every other post :)

  2. Atom - cover of Word up... :nono: !

Doc, do us all a favour and stop using that fucking smiley, it's condescending and makes you seem really full of yourself... it makes you seem like you think you're always right, and let's face it, none of us are :)

I was feeling utterly lousy yesterday, and I had a really sore throat, so I wasn't really looking forward to the gig that much. But when it arrived it actually went pretty well I thought, I was flagging slightly by Fight Not Won but still, it wasn't too bad. I have to apologise to the other two bands, I missed them both because I really was feeling utterly shit. I'm assured, however, that they were both ace :)

I've got to say that I'm not entirely sure what you meant about the guitar sound Scorge, I didn't notice anything amiss in that department.

The crowd fucking rocked, I say it every time but it's true, a gig is really made by the people who turn up to watch it, and your enthusiasm always lifts us to a higher level. All your clapping, chanting, shouting and moshing... we love it! :D Thanks again :)

  3. Purely personal' date=' so apologies in advance, but this would be a real nightmare for me............

    Drums/vocals - Phil Collins

Guitar - Yngwie Malmsteen (sp?) :nono:

    Bass - Mark King (level 42) X(

    Keyboards - Liberace :swearing:

    Bongos - Cliff Richard :help:

    Fiddle - Nigel Kennedy :moody:

Vocals shared between Mick Hucknall and Chris De Burgh :puke:[/quote']

:D Wow, that's one hell of a terrible band. I'm with you.

  4. Iron Maiden for me, surpsisingly. I like all the Maiden albums (each of which I feel has its own individual character), whereas Metallica unfortunately have their post-black material and Megadeth have their Risk.

But remember dudes and dudettes, OPINION is SUBJECTIVE ;) None of us can ever be right.

And Milner, you rock for nominating us :rockon:

  5. blackatom1.gif

    Black atom user icons ;)

I need ideas for more... using photos and lyrics etc...

But "creative genius" seems to have shut down.

Someone throw some ideas at me?

That's ideas. Not heavy objects. :help:

That is fucking ace! I just set it as my avatar at another bb :)

  6. It's amazing! I bought it for a joke cos it was only about 2 in a sale about 7 or 8 years ago, and ended up loving every song on it! Then I Met You being a particular highlight. Me and a bunch of other dudes went to see them at the Grampian TV studios recording for some rubbish country / folk music program (Country Nights maybe?) but we trawled the charity shops before we went in and bought the most utterly rubbish ridiculous 80's jumpers we could possibly find and wore them to the gig. When the Proclaimers came out we could see them looking at us as if we were taking the piss. Which we sort of were, but in a good way :) I also saw them at T in the park in the tent and my brother got kicked in the head by a crowd surfer... it was sheerly mental in there, they had to close the tent because so many people wanted in... and again at the music hall a couple of years ago. They're bloody brilliant!

 METAAAL!! No, hang on, I'm confused.

  7. I thought Halford's high range was disappointing compared to his voice 5 years ago... the high notes were often replaced with strangulated screams. He's better than me, mind  It was a great gig though, I really fecking enjoyed it a whole heap!

  8. "Judas Priest have released eighteen albums to date' date=' the first being "Rocka Rolla" in 1974"

This makes me think they may have been non metal/heavy to begin with and then jumped on board![/quote']

Being minus 8 at the time, I couldn't really tell you. But given that we played metal for 5 years without being noticed I think it's certainly possible that Priest could have done the same thing. Certainly their early albums do rock quite hard, albeit in a shoddily produced kind of a way.

  9. I saw the new G'n'R a couple of years ago at Leeds festival, against all my expectations they were brilliant! Even Axl sounded good... they actually sounded a lot better than the live album of the original line-up. They restored my faith, although the non-appearance of Chinese Democracy has somewhat weakened it again...

  10. its reassuring to know that a hardened metaller like yourself has limits!!!!!

i know its not the case with yourself and your atom chums (i think you were born with studded waistbands) but we seem to be experiencing the knock on effect of the success of the darkness.....

I'm not really a fan of cock-rock... I go as far as Guns 'n' Roses, but Twisted Sister really are dire (although I must confess to secretly thinking the first 2 Skid Row albums rule.... but shhh!! Everyone has their secrets ;) )

  11. iron maiden are very much with us - headlining reading/leeds this year i believe' date=' so are motorhead as well. they always were the best two bands from that era.

what next - a saxon reunion? (i shouldnt speak to soon....)[/quote']

Actually Saxon never went away, they've been touring sports centres for years now. They financed their last album by getting money up-front from the fans.

Now don't go mistaking me for a saxon fan, that's one bridge too far, even for me.

And to be honest, priest were from the era before Motorhead and Maiden.... along with Sabbath they were part of the first wave of Heavy Metal. I can appreciate the fact that they look ridiculous, and have a huge number of crap tunes, but their good tunes utterly slay. And maybe some metal fans didn't like them in the '80s, but there were a whole fucking heap of gumbies who did.

  12. ummmmm

    cos irrelevant is ummmmmmm

    irrelevant!

Who are you to say what's relevant? :nono: Relevant to what? How are the 'popular' bands at the moment which seem to me to simply be rehashing old 70s rock (except worse) 'relevant' to anything except for Top of the Titting Pops?
