Last Wrong
The things that stood out for me were 'slap bracelets' that got banned from my school and exclamation perfume which I bought for my first proper girlfriend, she wasn't impressed. Sam the Eagle
i still want to be like paula abdulWho doesn't!I got a promo tape through last year of Euro-pop that "was gonna be huge in the UK club scene" - included was Denise - the ginger Vengaboy and her version of Straight Up.Needless to say, never made it to the UK Club Scene
Hardcore Mel
me and my cousin spent hours making up a dance routine to Straight Up in 1991/92. Can't remember exactly although i can still remember some of the steps. Exclamation perfume smelled a little bit like licorice allsorts. I wore Charlie Gold. Rachie
We had something similar to that in our Yearbook last year...What do we, in our last yera at school, recall about our childhood years?Quite a lot... unfortunately. From Tamagotchis to yo-yos, Boyzone to Blur, who can (or indeed, wants to) remember the fun we had and the "mad" crazes we threw ourselves at with wild abandon? Although there were some shockers - the famous step haircut, coupled with curtains and mingin' rat-tails - there are those which proved productive and educational during our youthful formative years. I refer of course to the legendary "Playdays".As children, the TV took a background role in our lives, as boys across the land emulated the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, kung-fu kicking in the playground and harassing the terrapins in Duthie Park Winter Gardens. Boys supported the Turtles every week in their fight against evil BeeBop, Rocksteady and SHREDDER... except Donatello, who was the retard with the stick. Who can forget other such classics as Ghostbusters, Animals of Farthing Wood and Power Rangers - even at the tender age of 7, the writer wanted to get in the pink one's pants.Quality literature came courtesy of Goosebumps, and everyone had to be seen in wooly jumpers from United Colours of Benetton or the Sweater Shop. The eternally divisive subject of music was always an issue - did the boys prefer Oasis or Blur? And which Spice Girl was the most popular amongst the girls? Collections were a status symbol, with a complete set of SPL football stickers meaning playground domination. Another notable collectable were POGs, which everyone wanted to get their hands on, despite the fact that the actual game was crap.Longer lasting than collectables, but equally stupid, were the many crazes that swept the nation during our childhood. These included Transformers, Yo-yos, Tammy girl clothes, Hopscotch balls etc. Lest we forget, I feel that we should finish with an in depth look at the most useless and annoying of all creations. The Furby.WHAT THE HELL DOES IT DO?! IS THERE ANY POINT AT ALL TO THE STUPID HAIRY LITTLE THING!!With a vocabulary of four words (which all seemed to be "Mee-mah-mah-moo"), you could train your Furby to be the perfect pet. Although it was more fun to shut them in a cupboard until they broke. It's a shame we've outgrown these things, and have moved on from ice-skating discos. Now we are older, wiser and we would really rather forget our childish immature days.Balltag anyone? The part about the Furby most certainly accurately describes what happened to my Furby.Except it was thrown in the Laundry Basket, inside the cupboard. Where it slowly died.Thank christ.
