Chris
On the management side what about good old steve paterson in the boot of a car and big dunc holding 'the can' of stella presumably lol wat a guy, during games on the phone finding out results to see if his bets were up.. Sunday amateur stuff haha love it!! Remember standing in a taxi queue at 2am on Dee Street and seeing Paterson come staggering past and giving an awkward thumbs up as folk in the queue spotted him. Next day at Pittodrie Shearer has to take the game as Paterson is "unwell".
Lemonade
Heard a similar story to the Paterson / Kiriakov / Thornley ones about Noel Whelan when he was at Aberdeen. Well, heard a few actually but one sticks in the mind. One Sunday night, Whelan is completely shitfaced and propping up the bar in Simpsons Hotel, where he is staying. Jimmy Calderwood comes wandering in, takes one look at him and tells him to go up to his bed and sleep it off, and not to come in to training the next day. Whelan does as instructed, but not before ordering a bottle of vodka to take upstairs with him.
Chris
Was it Whelan who had his car borrowed by a girl he'd taken back to his hotel?
Lemonade
Was it Whelan who had his car borrowed by a girl he'd taken back to his hotel? Indeed. Also Simpson's Hotel. If memory serves, he brought two girls back and one nicked his car, presumably while he was busy with the other one.
