Guest allsystemsfail
The Beat are pretty good' date=' as are The Selector.[/quote']Did anyone catch The Selecter at Cafe Drummond last year? Had intended to go, but then found I couldn't.
Guest scott cs.
i believe they pulled out because the vocalist had a problem with her voice. i'm not 100% on that one.
Alan Cynic
I saw them on the Two-Tone Tour at Ruffles in the late 70s, along with Madness and the Specials. It was a very very good night out, although I nearly got arrested for asking a policeman ouside if he was a "specials constable". He didn't find it amusing (mind you I was in my cups). Tony Marlin
is that the one with 3cds? I was thinking of getting that but wasnt too sure if it would be good.Just the one disc. Mostly common tracks on it I think (well I'd heard most of them anyway, so I presume they're common). I might go back in for it today 'cos I've got vouchers burning a hole in my wallet. kirkt
The Specials are one of the most important bands in UK music history. Madness are good fun. I dont mind other two tone stuff but none compared to The Specials

ragudave
The Selecter pulled out bec of transport problems - their van died or something similar. But The Beat, Neville Staple and Ari Up have all played here in the last year or so. Two Tone will always be great - a mix of blue beat, punk attitude and UK culture...Dave

Guest allsystemsfail
Dunno if folks here are already aware of this, but the folks at Q magazine have just produced an issue (though a tad expensive) dedicated to Two Tone. The bands, the history, it's all there.

This happened the day before the gig so why they didn't just go to a hire company to get another, especially after Drummonds offered to pay for the hire, I don't know. Probably absolutely nothing to do with the rumour that it was one of the bands 50th birthday that day. They're down for a gig soon, I think it's November, I'll try to remember to look at the poster tonight and let everyone know.* *I will obviously fail to do this but the thought was there.
