FOX
Anyone got any tips for a BF n00b? I've been told 'spotting' (?) is essential?+1. Anything that will prevent me dying in seconds, please.
Lonz
+1. Anything that will prevent me dying in seconds, please. How is the gameplay? Judging by the sheer size of the maps I'm guessing it isn't as frantic a pace as MW?
Chris
Best tip is slow down, don't run straight towards the middle of a firefight. If you've got time, spot (back button on xbox) snipers, tanks, planes and helicopters. It makes it easier for engineers and vehicles to take them out for you.Use your class! If you're assault then drop medpacks and revive people. If you're support then spit out ammo every chance you get. It's free points! Engineers need to repair or destroy armour. Killing infantry should be secondary for them.If you can't get into the vehicle you want go and play the objectives, there'll be another chance to get a vehicle next time you die.Play the objectives! You're not there to kill people you're there to capture flags and destroy/defend MCOMs. Ignore K/D ratio and accuracy (if playing support) stats. Points are all that matter. You get 100 points for a kill but you also get 50 points for suppression kills and 20 points for every squad member you resupply. Plus you get loads of points for completing team objectives and getting ribbons (multiple vehicle kills in a match, multiple resupplies in a match etc.) as well.If you can't fly a transport helicopter then don't jump in the pilot's seat at the start of a match and fly 5 of your teammates into the side of a mountain. Learn to fly in an attack chopper on caspian border where you've got all the space in the world.

(obviously you're probably not going to know, but if someone else does...)2. I can never *see* anyone. It always seems to be me on my own at the edge of a map.3. The bit about the helicopters were Greek to me, like.(Also I might point out that the best bit about MW3 for me is that it's not difficult to find people to shoot, as opposed to BF which seems to be needle-in-haystack fare.)(OH, and also, the other day I was in a fight were the other team had some sort of attack helicopter and tank all over our bases and therefore spawning was near-instant death. Fun.)

To be honest the multiplayer learning curve is pretty steep because there are no clear instructions for noobs about things like squads, spotting and using your equipment. But to be honest COD is a bit too simple to even bother.

framheim
spotting is pretty essential. it's easy to spot and can even help you find people, if you think there's probably someone hiding in a dark place just jab the spot button and hopefully you'll see a red triangle pop up over their head. it's also really helpful to spot planes as they can be hard to track when you're in the air. spotting also helps tanks keep an eye on infantry who might be trying to get a shot off at them.if you're a sniper use tugs around objectives and bottlenecks. that way anyone who runs in that area will be spotted.another use for the spot button is issuing attack and defend orders to your squad. this only works if you're squad leader but can result in a lot of extra points. particularly on maps like operation metro and grand bazaar where everyone gets stuck fighting for flag B. you then get 20 points for every kill at that objective. if you see a cross on an objective that means it's got an active attack or defend order on it which if you follow you will earn an extra 20 points per kill around that objective. FOX
Apparently the spot button is SELECT on PS3, BACK (whatever that is) on Xbox, and Q on PC. That might help folk, maybe.
Jaaakkkeee
Had my first go of MW3 last night at a friends. It seemed strange, maybe it was the controller's fault. It was a cheap controller and is bulky as fuck.
Teabags
I play both. Getting into Battlefield 3 alot more. Tried MW3 again last night for some quick kill fun.I'm a fucking bad-ass transport helicopter pilot. Well, at least I think I am.
