For Those who dont know much about Jonah, this will give you an idea of his vast career

For Jonah Matranga's new album, 'You're All Those Things And Then You're None', the quirky artist first released solo acoustic versions of the songs, then put basic tracks up on his website for people to add their own ideas. It's exciting in concept and execution -- and surprisingly cohesive, given its chaotic creation. On one one track, 'Happy-Hee', upwards of 30 singers ended up being part of a fittingly sweet collage. The album(s) range from sparse and touching ('You Belong To Me', 'Secret World') to rocking and strident ('This Is Who I'm Gonna Be', 'Hold On') to poppy and idiosyncratic ('I Just Died In The Air' is a synth-fueled, hooky, lyrical pastiche of dozens of iconic 80s tunes). Included here are both versions of the infectious pop anthem 'Sweet Life', to give a sense of just how different the albums are.

Jonah Matranga is essentially unique. His music sounds somewhere in between Elliott Smith, U2 and Cheap Trick, but it doesnt really fit into any genre. Over the last 15 years, hes fronted hard rock bands (Far, Gratitude) and made classic indie albums (onelinedrawing, New End Original). Hes made records with budgets ranging from $300 to $300,000.

Jonah has worked with, toured with and influenced artists ranging from The Weakerthans to Sepultura. He's respected by people all over the music world. Hes recently turned up on hip-hop records from Fort Minor and Lupe Fiasco, as well as being featured on releases by Thursday, Deftones and many more.

Jonah has played as many house shows as he has huge festivals, and he

brings the same thing regardless of where hes playing ambitious songwriting, wit, honesty and an interest in making something new every time. His new album is yet another example of this.

There's info about the new album and lots more at - Jonah Is Here. So Are You.

You may know singer-songwriter Jonah Matranga from his various group

projects--Far, Gratitude, New End Original and the anagrammatic

onelinedrawing but music made under his own name still sounds as

sweet... Matranga may have done his best work while flying solo.

No Belle & Sebastian, New Pornographers, or Strokes for me last week,

but I did see Jonah two nights in a row - he never disappoints (I

actually sold my Saturday night Strokes tickets outside Hammerstein

Ballroom before heading to Snitch).

Jonah is one of the most genuine, passionate, and

sincere people Ive ever talked to in my life. Music is his life and

sharing that love with others is his major goal.

ABSOLUTEPUNK.NET

Jonah Matranga has played hundreds of shows and met thousands of

people, but he still remains one of the most human and accessible

people in rock today. That his quirky, self-referential style of

performance works in so many venues: big, intimate, recorded and

processed, is testament to the appeal of the man himself .

It is this comfort level and humility that surrounds Matranga and

makes you fall in love with him, despite the fact that youve never

met

His intimate sets can last hours, when the lovable, neurotic rock

geek interjects compelling and playful banter between - and sometimes

during - songs. - MEANSTREET

Last time he was at the Tunnels he played the acoustic version of 'Be Quiet and Drive'. Nothing he can do live could top that for me, but I'll be there just to see. I can't remember if he did 'Yr Letter', but I'm sure he did.

I'm excited.

Yeah, I'd like to see him play Be Quiet and Drive too. Also, his versions of Savory and Digital Bath would be swell.
