Doc Ascension
Hey, to anyone who has seen Ascension live recently you will have noticed I have LEDs on my Ibanez! Well... I've gone and added more and taken cool pics of it for all to see!
David
Nicethe singlecoil in the middle an empty cover?David
Doc Ascension
yep I sacrificed the middle single coil for it - just took the cover, put LEDs with clips in the spaced for the pole pieces (was a perfect fit!) and filled it with hot glue... I'm keeping the pickup for another guitar...
Hog
That pic is like guitar porn. Nice:up:
Doc Ascension
I've always wanted to do this to your guitar Hog... the piss in an ice box one LEDs inside a clear acrylic body would be just awesome!

scottST
that's fucking sweet, doc!i wanna try that with a bass, next time you're on MSN i'm gonna interrogate you about that....
black_matter
how much did that set you back if you don't mind me asking you? I have a white Ibanez Rg350dfx which that effect would come in handy for in the future!
jester1470
One of the best effects I've ever seen with this is ex Asia/Stone Roses/Simply Red/Ian Brown guitarist Aziz Ibrahim, he has LED's all the way up the fretboard on on of his guitars, he also occasionally wears lasers on his hands giving a very interesting effect sometimes.CheersStuart

So Im getting EMG81's fitted in it and Leds would make it the weirdest damn guitar ever lol:up:

I've been contemplating getting them for a while i think i may undertake the job now.
black_matter
i can see why you opt for diy rather than paying these ridiculous prices.http://www.simscustom.com/html/pricing_ordering.htm
Monk Rocker
Although it looks pretty cool, I can't see the point in LEDs where you have them. You're not going to get the full effect from them when you are playing. LED fret markers are a different matter now, but cost big bucks.... Guest lime ruined my life
how did you address the noise issue?i wonder you could connect them to the correct frequency ac power supplies to make an inbuilt tuner.could introduce a lot of noise problems though.http://www.strobotron.com/
Guest lime ruined my life
i can see why you opt for diy rather than paying these ridiculous prices.http://www.simscustom.com/html/pricing_ordering.htmthat requires a lot of precision routing and sheilding, unlike putting them in an un-used pickup cavity, hence the price. Doc Ascension
how did you address the noise issue?there isn't one... there's only 2 AA batties in there so they create no intereference or noise on my pickups at all!!I put them there because you see my hand move past them when I pick and it looks cool...@black matter guy - it's pretty easy to do if you know how to solder... A battery box is just a little black plastic box to hold the batteries to power the LEDs... literally cost me less than 10 pounds!
David
something like this maybe:I might have to borrow my brothers acrylic mockingbird to see how it would look hiding a few leds in it...David
Doc Ascension
that requires a lot of precision routing and sheilding' date=' unlike putting them in an un-used pickup cavity, hence the price.[/quote']surprisingly though... getting the fretboard off and then back on the neck is the hardest part of this project...I will be doing this to a guitar I'm building next year - the rest isn't too difficult... its just fannying about with the fretboard will have me worried!
