threeornothing
If you're really after something cheap, try the ION Audio electric drum kit. Its just a bunch of rubber pads on stands with a device that looks so much like the Alesis SR16 "I can't believe its not a lawsuit". The SR16 sounds aren't amazing (especially without any signal processing) but it could be that thing you're looking for for just banging away quietly at just 250 bucks....http://www.dv247.com/invt/26023
Compuphonic
The ION is reviewed in this months Sound on Soundhttp://www.soundonsound.com/sos/oct05/articles/ion.htmGeneral impression was that the unit was excellent value for money, although not really designed for a heavy life of gigging..Ion have officially licensed the SR-16 from Alesis as the sound source, so its fully legit and gives you the same 230 sounds. threeornothing
I remember it mentions the pedals as being particularly flimsy....they certainly look it in that photo. If I had the cash I would totally go for one of the more hi end roland VDrums, fell in love with them at the soundcontrol under the virgin megastore, TBH they sounded shit to me...but they are very playable, I'm not a great drummer but was able to pull off some cool shit on them as its much easier to cheat rolls and stuff than with a proper drum kit....I miss that store
