The Videos / Mighty Human Generator / Red Man Walking

My whole family are going... blue eyed and proud.

My mum might leave early if the other bands are too loud for her :D ... or once she hears me swearing/ requesting that I fuck you up the arse.

and it's not a conservatory... it's a, "sun lounge". Conservatory = common... Don't say Conservatory to her... and best not mention socialism...

my mothers quite right wing as it happens, think as you get older you get more severe in political attitudes. she reckons there's a connection between cocaine and "gayness" and is also prone to kicking off a family debate with something along the lines of " that Hitler had the right idea Y'ken...."

family. ech.

No... I don't think she does.

It's good we never discuss politics as a band... though apparently I now come across as middle of the road with a dab of nazi.

Still.... I think we should never discuss politics... and at this gig politics shouldn't be mentioned....

My mum has long nails... they are as strong as knives.

Knive fingers... Freddie... eeek!

well

was it zeenat?

:band:

Red Man Walking were very good, much improved and more powerful than the last time I saw them at Dr Drakes. Hearing Greg sing like that was real cool, he's a fine vocalist now, with funny stage moves!:p

The Videos Impressed me greatly, so much better and musical than I was expecting, the rhythm section in particular was real good. Not my thing for home listening, but it works for me live, meow!

I left just before TMHG as I'm on an anti biz kick cos he dissed the flute as namby pamby shite. :D

your loss

and by the way, I play Josephine a hell of a lot and they have a flute player,so although it IS namby pamby it needn't be shite, just think back to Fingerbobs with Yuffy and his crap finger puppets and the abysmal flute in the 1970s and you will see why I far preferred the Test Card Belgian Jazz - brass is where it's at.

I once saw Jethro Tull, they were excellent live, nevertheless I still class them as namby pamy adult rock with flute .

Give me Betamax and his Buzzsaw guitar or Tickets and his crowd heckling any day.

there are no MP3s of the videos

but aberdeen scenesters will all hate our music anyway naturally by default

 The joke's on milner then...

Do I count as a "scenester"? I guess I can't' date=' because I thought the Videos were truly mighty. I certainly enjoyed it anyway. The band was really tight, and Burnham must be the only person I know who could "sincerely" shout "I wanna fuck you in the ass" at the top of her voice repeatedly at the crowd, young and old. ;)

Certainly shall make a point of seeing the Videos again.

Couldn't stay for the rest of the gig since I had to get to work, but I'm sure the other 2 bands were just as mighty.[/color']

scenester: no taste in music, only interested in meeting fellow board members in moshulu/the street, introducing people by their board names, rarely seen at good gigs, only seen at poofy deadloss gigs

ill let you work that one out :p

Peace, I saw you guys at Drummonds at the charity event you were part of and didn't really enjoy TMHG i'm afraid. Each to their own and all that.

:)

PS: The playing was great though.

I really enjoyed the videos, much to my surprise. Much better than I though and much better than The Real Shocks (although the intro to their single is great).

OK they were a one trick pony but hey, it was a decent trick.

It was also the same trick performed by Bis, The Yummy Fur and even the Kenedas about 10 years ago but its been a while since I saw it.

Will see them again if I can.

Yummy Fur were half of Franz Ferdinand before they were FF. If you have FF first single then the B side "Van Tango" is classic Yummy Fur. They were a little too Art School but I really liked them, Sexy World is a great album.

Kenedas were local. Very good. High energy power pop punk. Martin from Kenedas is in a new band called colonopenbracket or something.

Bis?? Everyone knows Bis. Sugar Sugar Candy Pop and all that Teen C Shite. Good in limited doses.

I own stuff by all three so I obviously rate them all to limited degrees.

Dunno if we like FF that much despite their awesome successfulness - the music is fine but maybe just too conventionally/predictably art skool by numbers for me at least, so yummy fur might be a step too far (or not)....will check out said album anyhow in the name or research!

I know about the Keneadas just never heard their stuff. We know Martin anyhoo and in fact colonopenbracken were gonna play that tunnels gig with us!!, but Martin reckons they need a bit more time before they play live ...but we will no doubt do some gigs with em soon-ish

Bis.....well they are not that famous in my house....Ive only heard two songs, both very electro/nice but not in our chosen area of operations really, but we worked with Jon and Steve outa Bis when we were doing RS stuff so there is a vague connection I suppose

TV all have diverse influences really and probably conctructivly fight about music more than we agree on it....we never say ''lets try and sound like *insert anyone*''

but what was the band called in ''Breaking Glass'' - someone said on saturday we were kinda like them.....also interesting!

so long as a couple of people digged it I dont really give a fuck who we sound (a bit) like but that was our first gig as TV btw so any feedback is dead interesting to us > next tunnels one is July8 > other random ones up and down the nation TBC
