He has been there for ages, and performed well for the past few seasons. Of course you would want him to play a big part in them moving forward next season. He is still a great player when he is on form, and Fletch can still do a job, especially as a back up. If they keep Fellani then i really dont see them signing a defensive mid.

Like i say, my money is on Rooney, he was one of the few shinning lights from the previous season. Carrick isnt a captain imo, Fletch wont play enough, DDG is too young. Outwith them i cant see anyone who is going to be a nailed on first teamer next season. Not unless he signs a captain.

Yeah but Carrick the season before was fantastic, i think he can get back to that form, with Fletcher to back him up when needed. I'd still argue the more attacking minded midfielder would be better suited for United right now.

Do United need a new defensive mid tho with Carrick and Fletcher still around? I'd argue that someone like Barkley, who makes more runs forward is more what United need. Defensively in midfield they are ok, its the fact they have no one creative making forward runs from there that was hampering them last season.

Yeah i just dont get the hype with McCarthy, a tidy player, but he doesnt really capture the imagination, he should stay where he is as he obviously works well enough with Martinez. I just think Barkley is more what United need, and i feel he has more potential so in the long run would be a better signing.

Seems like the papers clutching for stories tbh, i really cant see United going for him. If they were going for an Everton midfielder they would be better off with Barkley.

Yeah thats a pretty rubbish statement considering the resources the two old firm clubs have had for the past 20 years, your just digging at Aberdeen which you did earlier in the thread but everyone just ignored it. Still the last Scottish club to win anything in Europe.

Yeah they clearly under achieved in the domestic cups, i still dont think that classes as massively underachieving for the season, but they should have done better in the cups, especially the league cup.

Yeah the league isnt a cup, its a league. The 3 domestic cups in Scotland are the League Cup, Scottish Cup and Ramsdens cup. Celtic can only enter two of them. No club has the right to a domestic treble every season, it doesnt matter what their finances are like. Any team can have an off day, in a cup one off day is enough to see you knocked out.
