  1. Jeez, cash converters....definately agree on that, could be quite a good earner and nothing to set up, could be good for some DIY gigs, minimal expense..again i dunno, what i do know is System of a down T's and C.D's wont cut it in Aberdeen. The Moorings had an ace idea of showing films on Sunday afternoon, dunno how much success thats had, i suppose "Beer + Aliens" might be more appealing than "Coffee / Cheese toastie + Nightmare on Elm street"....hmm or maybe not :) Theyve a tonne of space to fill.

Jesus and mary Chain - Darklands ( OK )

    Sebadoh - III ( Good )

Sebadoh - The freed man ( Meh )

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless ( Good )

My Bloody Valentine - Isnt everything ( OK)

Red Kross - Phase shifter ( blegh )

Sebadoh III is awesome, funny and really bad all at the same time. I luvs it. Cool memories of whiting out to the last mad track with all the screaming on it. Glory days.

  2. I enjoyed it. I'd always put off getting any Gaslight Anthem stuff as they reek of Springsteen but i'd heard the first 2 singles from Handrwritten (45, Handwritten) and really enjoyed them so i took the plunge and bought it. There's a few bits that are borderline Springsteen/Matchbox 20 rips but it's good. It was certainly good enough to warrant me buying 59 Sound and American Slang, both of which confirmed my Springsteen concerns.

I love that '59 sound record. Lost touch with Gaslight since....might have to catch up.

  3. Here is some noise I recorded a while ago, I quite like it but what do I know. I can't for the life of me figure how to embed the player from bandcamp- maybe it's not possible, so here is a link.

Thank's to Dirty Beard for being nice about this, to make it more fun I've added a slightly shorter demo to go along with this song recorded on my android wi-fi enabled HD capable phone. Excellent.

  4. That's not cricket.

I bought a DVD of it, my Dad just straight out stole it. I bought another copy- somebody borrowed it and I've never seen it back. I support the film, I bought Ironside a pint in the central bar- by my reckoning I'm entitled to a cheeky download, I feel okay about it.

  5. I finally finished Mark Mazower's Dark Continent, a real powerhouse that guy, but I had to read the chapter on the collapse of the Soviet Union twice (Sharks and Dolphins) it was giving me a sore head. I'm stuck what to read now- I've got a pile of Niall Ferguson's older stuff to get through, but I might find something light to read until I get the new Will Self joint in my sweaty hands tomorrow......I might hit some HP Lovecraft or Algernon Blackwood, them two always give me groovy dreams..........

  6. I just finished 7/7 Behind the Veil, it was pretty good- but I'm into all that stuff, there's definitely some problems with the official conspiracy, I just don't think I have enough time to investigate the whole mess properly- I'm spending all my time reading arguments about Garry Barlow singing at the Olympic closing ceremony.

I need a good book about Stalin, and all the stuff he got up to. I'm not keen on Simon Sebag Montefoire- just because I found his Jerusalem book so boring that I couldn't finish it, so his tome on Stalin is not an option.
