  1. Wow. I didn't think they could top the band name for rankness but, somehow, the title of the album has managed it.
  2. Brand-new band in Aberdeen looking for a Bass player to complete a (current) 5-piece line up. Previous experience within an originals band would be preferable but not essential. No age range specified. Various ideas floating around for the "genre" that the band will be looking to head down but it is likely to be a mix of indie, rock, country and folk - think something along the lines of Idelwild...... Interested? Drop me a PM and we can take things from there!

  5. Proper prime motherfucker stalk. Diarmaid and fellow Deportee-er, Adam, currently over my left shoulder at the beer festival.
  6. I don't think it's been said anywhere that the support band will not be paid anything. My understanding of ARS' model was:- 1. BOTB with no entrance fee for bands nor any request that they sell tickets, etc; 2. Winner of BOTB gets support slot at one of their future events and will be "looked after" although not promised a percentage of the door. This read to me that the "winning band" from the BOTB would receive some form of payment for being the support act which I assume would come from a portion of door/ticket money. I've no affiliation with ARS (I don't like the BOTB model for a kick off) but it would really help if people on this board started actually reading posts in full before jumping in with all guns blazing.
  7. Could certainly bring a whole new meaning to the phrase "Battle of The Bands".....
  8.:up: Nyah! The band that just keep giving.............
  9. Is the bit I've highlighted not really the crux? You may not understand it but I assume that those people who play in tribute bands must derive some satisfaction from it otherwise they wouldn't do it? I don't play in a tribute band/cover band nor do I have any desire to be in one. But if the people involved in them enjoy it then fair play to them. A lot of guys I know who are involved in tribute acts/cover bands are actively involved in original music and original bands anyway. Whilst there is evidently a lack of creativity or originality in such an act it doesn't mean that the constituent members are lacking these qualities. Anyways, this thread has now gone way off topic. For what its worth I don't really agree with the whole BOTB concept unless it can be judged fairly which is, frankly, an impossible task because whichever way you look to judge it there will always be the possibility of manipulation. I think ARS's intentions are innocent enough - it may just be that the methodology of getting there may be a little flawed.
  10. Awesome. I was a little apprehensive about how the recordings would be in comparison to how the live performances I've seen were. Simple reason for my apprehension being that the two times I've now seen you guys I've come away thinking just how epic the songs have sounded and I know it can be really tricky to get that same feel/vibe over on record. As far as I am concerned, you guys have nailed that. The track still sounds so intricately fragile in parts but comes across "big" in all the right places - just as it does when played live. I can't wait to hear the next couple when they go up.
  11. Should be a good night that one then - will make sure I'm down for it. Thanks for the deytail on the recording....... Looking forward to hearing the one that is up tonight and those going up on Wednesdey, Fridey or Saturdey. I do think it was a school-boy error on the part of Deyportees to upload their tracks only days after the $HUTTR$PD boys had taken Aberdeen by storm....... I don't know if your tracks will quite live up to the life-changing experience that the '$PD provided last week. I guess being the second best band in Aberdeen behind the '$PD is nothing to be ashamed of though.........
  12. I nipped my head into the thread but I can't get onto mySpace at work so will have a listen when I get home. I'm expecting them to be nothing short of brilliant. Where did you guys record anyways? Did I see at Tom's last night that you guys are on the RHL single launch bill?
  13. I'm in for the 7th as well. Imagine the state of the stalking thread after it......... 1 week tomorrow!!!!
  14. Something like that - I'm amazed The Tunnels has found the money to take in an act like ShutterSpeed. I'm half expecting it to have been a massive wind-up with a view to having people through the door on the night. In which case, well done!
  15. I'm strangely intrigued by what will actually transpire on the 7th so I'm in. Has the 'Speed's presence been actually confirmed by an independent body?
  16. This. ShutterSpeed have gone from being on the crest of a wave overnight to hanging over the precipice.
  17. Damn my work blocking YouTube - will have to check this oot when I get home.
  18. Nope, but you are supporting Shutterspeed - you should be fiercely proud to have landed such a slot that the rest of Britain were clamouring for.
  19. He don't lie! YouTube - ShutterSpeed - DoberMan ( Unplugged )
  20. Who knows - even if it has been it has been frankly amazing.
