  1. But the only problem is....you mention A-HA in your list of favs ?( I'm not being funny...but A-HA?? hardly up there with the "superior" bands out there o_O
  2. Hey Guy. If not Whitesnake....are there any other bands which you be up for covering? Aerosmith? Skid Row? Vocals again may be a sticking point. Motley Crue? Velvet Revolver? etc etc... I'd be up for something along those lines.
  3. I'm not interested in the polititcs or 'non' politics of music. I just want to listen to music i like and play music i like, but i am interested in why my influences sound the way they do and what turned them on. We could argue all day about who were the better musicians, who got more airplay, if a band became "famous" due to the death of their singer etc. If you like something i don't i'm not gonna judge you on it. Wouldn't it be boring if music was made for all the "right" reasons? I mean bands like RATM were very politically motivated, which doesn't interest me...BUT i love their music. is that wrong? And i love songs with a melody, but equally i love a song that has none Morbid Angel, Deicide, Meshuggah etc. I just love music.
  4. The only 'problem' with being in an original band is that unless your in it to make it big or atleast have a go at it(which i suppose we all are to start with), your likely to play to empty venues more often than not, which is pretty demoralising after a while. At least with a cover/tribute people know what they are getting from the word go. I did the "originals" thing for around 8 years and it did beging to grind after a while when you know it's not really taking off any further than your back door. Yes playing your own tracks is a buzz but there comes a time when you have to ask....where are we going with it? I just love playing music and enjoy it and more often than not the best way to do that is by playing in a covers band/tribute band. In my opinion anyway.
  5. I like alot of the artists you mention, but can you in all honesty say that punk music and Nirvana were not important? I dont like the music Oasis make but i know they were a hugely important band. I suppose it's all about opinions.
  6. i may be wrong but i think Kubickiboy is looking at playing bass?! not brass
  7. Hi there, Whats your thoughts on a tribute band? QOTSA? Audioslave? SOAD? or a coversband playing songs "we" want to hear? Im fed up watching cover bands play the same old same old. Ive been in a few original bands but just want to have fun playing which you dont always get with being in an original band. If you think it's something you'd be up for let me know. Cheers,
  8. For the SECC Thursday 26th March. 4 if possible but will consider any amount below.
  9. You dont fancy doing a Audioslave Tribute if the STP doesn't get off the ground?
  10. Its a pity i dont sing....i'd like to be in this sort of band. Ahwell.
  11. Bump! I can't believe more people aren't keen on this. Got a drummer who's interested and myself. Just bumping the post so it's not forgotten
  12. So no takers for keys/samples etc? Vocals too??? No Trent Reznors out there??. I think a tribute act like this would go down a storm. Just imagine playing songs like 'Head like a hole' , 'Last' , 'Heresy' , Happiness in Slavery' , 'Were in this together' , 'The Perfect drug' , 'Thats what i get' , 'Discipline' and 'The beginning of the end' at some sweaty venue???? What a buzz!!!!! Come on...your out there waiting.
  13. I'm serious. Let me know if he's keen.
  14. We need a guitarist.. You looking at originals? covers? bit of both? I'm in a band at the moment who are doing covers of stuff like The Hives, The Strokes, Kings of Leon, Audioslave, The Killers, Jimmy eat World etc. May start writing original stuff in the future but just wanna get gigging and have a good time just now. My influences range from band like Audioslave - S.O.A.D - NIN - American Head Charge - Raging Speedhorn - The Dillinger escape plan - Deftones - My Vitriol - Pitchshifter - Depeche Mode - U2 - The Cult - 36 Crazy fists - Coheed and Cambria - The Cure - Rammstien - The Strokes - Placebo - Aerosmith - Soungarden - Jimmy Eat World - Velvet Revolver etc etc Our other guitarist is a bit of a rocker/metal man too. Drummer is a bit more laid back, stuff like Radiohead - Coldplay - Stereophonics etc. Sound like your kinda thing? If so give me a shout.
  15. Do you play any other instruments?
  16. Putting the feelers out to see if anyone would be keen on forming a Nine Inch Nails tribute band. I feel that the tribute scene is somewhat lacking, what with all the 'usual' bands out there..AC/DC, Thin Lizzy, Kiss etc etc. All very good but done to death. I'd love to get a great tribute band going and seeing as i love NIN and it's something i think would do well i'm gonna see what comes of it. Probably be Guitar(s) Bass(me) Keyboards, Drums, Vocals. So who's up for it?
  17. So it looks like it's the Offspring then? No chance of me doing vocals i'm afraid.
  18. Contact details would be handy..eh! Ha. ullevi2604@hotmail.co.uk. Cheers.
  19. I'd be well up for an Aerosmith or an Offspring tribute band. Got any others interested? I play bass by the way.
  20. After listening to your demo i'm certain you wont be short of offers. Quality stuff you've done there. Good luck in finding a project.
  21. We need a guitarist who can sing backing vocals Hey, howz it goin? I'm in a Covers band who have just recently got going and were looking for another guitarist who can sing backing vocals. We are also on the look out for a singer too but hopefully that position won't be too difficult to fill. We are doing covers of stuff like Kings Of leon,Strokes,Jimmy eat World,Coldplay,Stereophonics etc etc. The influences of the guys in the band vary from the likes of Coldplay,Radiohead all the way through to myself who's into heavier stuff like Raging Speedhorn and the likes. We just want to gig stuff that really isn't being gigged at the moment which also has to be what we all like. As much as i love some of the Old School rock(AC/DC,Aerosmith etc) it's been done to death. I don't know about you but when i go into a bar to watch a band and they start playing "the boys are back in town" and the likes i kinda go "not again". Maybe you should come and jam with us and see what you think? Whats the worst that can happen? You don't like what we do and you say thanks but no thanks? Nothing ventured...!!!! Have a think about it and get intouch. email.... superchan.one@virgin.net Cheers.
