So Xmas is well and truely over for another year. The odd inch (or three) has been added to the waistline, bank balances have never looked lower, mutterings of "I''ll never drink again!" have been heard the length and breadth of the country, and if anything like me, you're new year resolve has already started to fade... Now I've had some pretty shit Xmas presents in my time but this year my lovely ma and pa went all out! The distant childhood memory of disappointment of unwrapping my annual sock and pant combo from Great Auntie Julie pales in comparison to the utter pile of shite I received from my parents this year. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not normally one to 'look a gift a horse in the mouth', but this year was something truely special. This year was the year of the travel Sudoku machine!! With the build quality of a Kinder toy (though far less entertaining), the sleekness of a Fiat Cinquecento and it's 6.99 price tag still on full view, I was super chuffed. Can I count to nine? Yes I can! Thanks Mum and Dad!

I know what you mean, though I really enjoyed Nick Mason's book Inside Out last year (should this comment be in the book review?!). As Floyd's only constant member from the band's conception I'd like to think he would have played 'behind' Gilmour, but in thinking about it that could well be the reason as to why he didn't. Finished 'The Active Side of Infinity' by Carlos Castaneda at the weekend. One of the most thought-provoking books I've read in ages.

Watched Dead Man yesterday. Awsome film, and Neil Young soundtrack is sublime!

Did that inculde the skin, crown and core? I'd easy put ten quid in the pot for someone to eat a whole pineapple in less than a minute, but it would have to be a WHOLE pineapple! In fact, fuck the time limit, ten quid for someone to eat an entire pineapple! Any takers? Oh, and come on Mr. Ed Howson, everyone has tasted their own at some point (haven't they?)

Allodoxaphobia - Fear of opinions. As in "What do you mean you deleted my post? Are you an allodoxaphobic or something?"

After a week in a relationship dumping someone for a large amount of money wouldn't be as bad as doing the same thing to a long term partner (or would it?). Surely the moral stand point is exactly the same? I guess this thread is so based on the hypothetical, it's difficult to convey true feelings about the subject matter (it's not as though someone is going to walk up to you tomorrow with one million quid in cold hard cash and say I'll give you all this if you...). I was merely wandering if people were prepared to accept the possability of whether or not their morals or own well-being were for sale for something as unfulfilling as money?!

Did that whole 'chill-challenge' shit at the Moorings and took a mouthful of chilli sauce that was like nine thousand billion times stronger than a jalepeno (hot, hot!) for a free pint (fuck I'm cheap!). Ended up outside in the bin alley throwing up (why are you always sick after eating rice!). Took a whole packet of rennie before I was back on form! Apparently absinthe works well in that situation?!

I know they're ridiculous, but I guess I was trying to convey extremes, and this particular individual gave me the most (in my mind) extreme cases. Most people I know would drink a shot of tabasco for 50 (some for even less than that!). What I was getting it is would people do 'the unthinkable' if the money was right, and can money be used as an incentive to over-come fear?
