  1. No, I would just assume that the person interviewing me didn't speak doric and therefore wouldn't understand what I was saying. If the person started interviewing me in doric, then I would reply in doric, no question.
  2. Probably not, but that doesn’t mean I’m not “Educated”. Yes, you are indeed displaying your ignorance. MA does stand for Master of Arts, but having an "Arts" degree does not necessarily mean "drawing", here's a list of the arts degrees on offer at Aberdeen: What can I study? As you will see it includes all sorts of stuff like accountancy, mathematics, computing etc. And I can’t really comment on the addition to your signature, as my degree is in Politics and International Relations, not art. In fact, probably the only person I know with a degree in art would be Alan Cynic… Ha! Yes, you can indeed!
  3. Yeah, that was one of the first ones I saw. My mate had Sky via cable and I taped about six early episodes, including that one, on a VHS tape and used to watch them over and over. Changed days to nowadays when you can download a show within minutes of it being aired. I feel old having said that.

    The X Files

Seems even cheaper if you can splash out for the whole lot: Amazon.co.uk: The X Files - The Complete Collector's Edition: DVD: David Duchovny,Gillian Anderson,Robert Patrick,Annabeth Gish,Mitch Pileggi
  5. Au contraire, I have an MA, upper second class honours (that's 2:1 to you), and I speak doric regularly. Not all the time, but I tend to lapse into it automatically when somebody else talks doric. And the three guys who were Scotland the What? are all extremely well educated, articulate, successful in their chosen fields etc. And they speak doric.
  6. Cast were definitely Britpop, no question. Some others that I would say were Britpop, even if only because they were championed by Chris Evans: Catatonia Ash Mansun Space Republica Echobelly The Boo Radleys Personally, as someone who was 17/18/19 while all this was going on in the mid 90s, I thought it was a greart time for music, but then I was used to hearing all these bands in places around town at the time while out having a good time.
  7. I saw him last time at the AECC, I had a good time, possibly helped by the fact that I had free tickets and also access to a free bar. There's no doubt though that Ian Brown just can't sing live. I imagine it's a nightmare in the studio as well, god knows how many takes they have to do before they can splice one together that's actually in tune.
  8. To me, Shed Seven were more derivative of Ocean Colour Scene and 90s era Weller than Oasis. But there's no doubt they were part of that whole Ben Sherman wearing, TFI Friday playing, encouraged neds to start playing the guitar because Wonderwall was easy to play-ing Britpop scene.
  9. It's a whole sub-genre, called "shitpop".
  10. I can't remember what they charge, give them a phone and ask for a deal. As I say, I have bought from them a few times, including high end Gibsons and they are good to deal with.
  11. What's wierder, filming kids, or puuting a picture of you on your website wearing nothing but boxers and saying you are looking for a woman? I feel really sorry for his neighbours though.
  12. Peter Cook's seem to do it for the same price, you could possibly haggle with them as well. Peter Cook's Guitar World - Fender Guitars, Strat, Tele, Jaguar, Jazzmaster, Cyclone, Jagstang I have bought from them before and they are excellent.

    The X Files

    Buy them you grip, as Elwood says only 14 at Amazon! Amazon.co.uk: The X Files: Season 2 [1994]: DVD: David Duchovny,Gillian Anderson,Mitch Pileggi,Nicholas Lea,William B. Davis,Raymond J. Barry
  14. Basically 4-8 are the really good ones. I like 1,2 and 3 as well, but I watched them when they first aired. I can see why they would look a bit rubbish if you saw the really good ones first. They were just finding their way back then.
  15. One more than Shed Seven! Actually, can't say I've ever bought a Shed Seven record, but they probably deserve their place on the various Britpop compilation CDs that will no doubt emerge in years to come alonside the likes of Cast, Menswear and Sleeper. Going for Gold and Disco Down were decent enough songs. I think their main problem was the fact that their singer's voice was really weedy and thin, made the guy out of Embrace sound like Tom Jones.
  16. Ditto on Everybody's Talkin' and Blues Run the Game. Still don't think I've heard the original actually. Heard the Eric Clapton version of Don't Think Twice from the Dylan tribute concert before I heard the original. Still think it's a damn good version. Heard The Beatles doing Act Naturally before Buck Owens. Probably heard Elvis doing Blue Suede Shoes first.
  17. Apparently it's not out here until February or something, which is madness when piracy is so prevalent. But you can get the R1 version from CD-Wow for 12.99 or something.
  18. Usually works out around 20%, 17.5 VAT, then some other duties and handling charges on top of that. Some people will offer to mark it at a lower value, but you will only be able to insure it to the value that they mark it at, meaning if it gets damaged during transit, you're screwed.
  19. Hope you guys bought genuine copies. Normally I take a relaxed view of downloading/torrents etc, but if this DVD release isn't a success they just won't make any more.
  20. After reading this thread I went on ebay and checked what my limited edition gold box version of the "Symbol" album was worth. Turns out it's only worth a fiver. D'oh.
  21. The man speaks the truth. Can't say I'm a fan of "pop punk", but I don't have anything against it. However, if you are looking for "hard" I don't think this is the genre for you.
