  1. I have a major problem with Foals. The Edmund Fitzgerald piss all over the Foals material. Such a waste of talent going on here, and such a shame. And that youthmovies comment, hmmm, while ymss's second record Hurrah!..., was pretty incredible, and like something i'd never heard before (although, i hadn't had much exposure to that kind of music then), Foals are just boring. They play the most predictable guitar and bass progressions, but try and hide it in their 'intricate', but relatively easy (albeit, well played!) guitars. Bit snobby, like. Also, 'Like an afrobeat don caballero'...! Whaaaatt!? They wish. Still, i might go to this. I reckon it'll be pretty fun, even though it'll look like an episode of Skins (infact, someone has already made a similar heckle to Yannis, i believe!)
  2. Ah, great! Thanks for the info!
  3. What an incredible line up! But yeah, the DVD is great. Really lovely to watch. It's a shame it never came to the Belmont, because it would be superb to see on a big screen. I know you can 'rent' a screen or something, no? You basically give them a film and some cash, and they put the film on..., i think that's how it works, anyway. Although, i think it's seen as a private function so you couldn't advertise. Still, a few of us are thinking about doing it.
  4. I can't get my head round this, absolutely ridiculous. You do realise DIY stands for Do It Yourself, right? Be it hardcore, IDM, indie, post-rock..., any of those can count as DIY. I really thought Celler 35 had the necessary attributes to stir some life into the Aberdeen music scene. A wee venue perfect for the small band, be it touring or one off shows (which i'd love to get involved in). To put all this in jeopardy because of a few smashed glasses and light...jeezo. And crowd surfing, yeah, ok, you're not meant to do it, and i'm completely against it, but i've been to many a gig where it has happened and the venue certainly didn't threaten to cease all shows. It's almost like you don't want any progression in the scene. Oh, and of course, all hardcore shows are full of loud mouth council estate dwellers who are only out to cause trouble.
  5. I can help with posters round uni, if you're looking for random folk to help out. Charlottefield are absolutely fantastic, and just brilliant live!
  6. Have you been to ATP before? It's just one big battle of 'indie-than-thou'. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's something unbelievable pretentious about it. Simply amazing festival though!
  7. I'll bet my bank balance that it'll be a Mogwai support for the Glasgow shows. Perfect.
  8. Buy from Ticket Scotland instead, and avoid the ludicrous 4.50 charge on top of the booking fee. Daylight robbery, that ticket site is. Buy here; https://tiga.simbiotic.co.uk/tickets_scotland/index.html Just picked two up.
  9. 99.98% of all DIY emo bands are vegan.

  11. Make sure you have someone who can cook good vegan food.
  12. Gig of the year potential, right here. The herzog stuff sounds really mint as well.
  13. Seriously can't wait for this Kaddish gig (not really massive on the other bands playing, but Kaddish is enough to bring me along). I've only been the cellar once for an acoustic night a few years ago, perfect for play-in-the-middle-of-the-floor-DIY-emo gigs! We should get the Avast boys up to play as well. Yaaaas!
  14. This thread is depressing. I'm fed up of having to explain what emo means, because people seems to be some pre set reply. It's one ear and out the other. DIY 4 life, up the punx etc..
  15. This isn't a criticism, but are you really in another 3 bands?! Anyway, gonna try and get things together in freshers week, or just after. Make some cool jams. I'll contact people through personal messages nearer the time.
  16. Wow, i don't think you could be further away from the point. I meant that all members would sing. The examples i gave, Koyla, Sinaloa, all members take part in the vocals - giving different pitches/styles etc. And anyone who starts a band to "get all the girls" needs a quick sharp smack.
  17. You can still get one of Kolya 7" Here. You're talking about 6 quid including postage to the UK. The other 7" and LP are oop, but they usually appear on ebay, or sellers on various forums sometimes put them up. The Logs 7" is pretty much one of my favourite things out this year! The members also play in The Kidcrash, who are more mathy/complex than Logs (i still prefer Logs though!). Their record Jokes has just come out - pretty solid if you dig that kinda thing. Also, if you enjoy the Logs sound, you're gonna love Shotmaker. Total sweet as old skool Canadian band. I really love Damezumari, though! I think they have quite a nostalgic sound...or something. But each to their own and all that. But yeah, i need to get time with my friend to figure out what we're going to do, and get replying!
  18. Fantastic. I can tick it off my 'things to do before i die' list.
