  1. Holy cow. Someone betta' kill me now cos it ain't gonna get any better than that! ... ... ... APART FROM TOMORROW! But srsly. One of the best gigs i've ever been to. Born Ruffians are pretty much the best pop band of the last 10 years. I thought they were amazing on records, but jeez hold me down cos live it was 384089503450 times better. Their singer / guitarist is one of those crazy talented people. What a voice! Had a wee chat with the drummer (he gave them a thumping eh!) and bassist at the end and they were pretty grounded / lovely guys despite being on an Orange advert. Bit of info for you - for the new record; same producer of Animal Collective's Sung Tongs. Makes perfect sense like, just listen to the "oh oh ah oohhh!" parts. Neato. Oh, and they're back in November apparently! Lets hope its the Tunnels and not the Moshulu. Caribou were other worldly. I'd have to spend a week in a dictionary to give a description any justice. Oh, and the sound was impeccable tonight. Great job! If i had to pick a downside; Girls Aloud down the bottom LEFT corner. I mean really, WTF was going on there? I know it's all about having fun, but they were completely off their face. It was quite a noisy crowd as well...that was slightly disappointing. Hopefully the STFU policy tomorrow night with work out. It really has to. (I also had sore feet at the end , but that's irrelevant really..). P.S Did anyone else hear the heckle of "yaaaaassss miiiiin!! " at the end. Own up!?
  2. Glad i bought a ticket now! Absolutely knackered after my exam today, no way i'd be doing anymore revision anyway. BRING IT.
  3. Sweet. Really looking forward to Born Ruffians. Red Yellow & Blue is gonna be one my favourite summer albums for sure.
  4. I was planning to go in after my exam at 5. Reckon i'll still be able to get one then?
  5. It's so good. Pseudonyms is one of the mos gorgeous things ever. Srsly.
  6. Gregor Samsa - Rest Colleen - The Golden Morning Breaks Epic 45 - May Your Heart be the Map Okay - Huggable Dust My Kappa Roots - The House of St. Colme Burnt Down Grails - Burden of Hope Out comes the revision music. Gregor are coming back later in the year to do the UK, imp. HINT!
  7. Do you really think the Locust are the type of band that would need the attention of Jerry Springer fans? ....Probably not. I can't imagine the fat wifey in the front row nipping out afterwards to her local indep. record store. I think it was more a dig at Jerry Springer, and American TV culture in general, or least thats what all the evidence would suggest. Anyway, i'm not fussed over the locust. Swing kids were better!
  8. I've been listening to Holy Fucking Ghost by Owls constantly for the last week. Too good. Gimmmmmeee soooommeee hannnddclaaapppps!
  9. PUMPED FOR THIS. I've not got my ticket yet, though. Or my Caribou. I should probably get round to picking them up. Looking forward to seeing Remember Remember again. Fountain Mountain is my revision music just now.
  10. The the instrumental track is lovely. It does remind me a little of Eluvium/Hammock, yeah. I'm not too keen on the really reverb'y vocals at points though, but hey.
  11. Yeah, it looks a awesome weekend! --- I have an exam on the 22nd, so if im not knackered i'll probably stay after Caribou.
  12. Ok, not Plans. Plans was terrible. The lead single does have a 4 minute instrumental part, yeah, but it sounds like bleedin' Genesis! Horses for courses though, eh.
  13. If you turn Lemuria down to a low volume is sounds like Avril Lavigne. FACT. So good though. Ah, did you order Algernon from the Craig in states then? He told me he was going to send a bunch over to folk in Europe to sell, and to hold out till then. Still no cds
  14. If anything, the new stuff reinforces the OC soundtrack cloud over their head. Give me the photo album any day. What Algernon did you get? I'm still pretty confused with what's happening with the 7". Something about it being pressed wrong...i can't remember. I picked up the tape last week. Can't wait for it to get here! What Lemuria was it? Get Better? Such a good record!
  15. Oh, i got my dates mixed up. 7th is a Monday, so i couldn't make that anyway. But yeah, something on the 5th would be nice...
  16. Have you heard anything about one? I'd be able to make a Saturday night.
  17. stapleton tour dates; 6th of July - Dundee, City Function Suite 8th of July - Glasgow, Nice n Sleazies 9th of July - Leeds, Packhorse 10th of July - Kingston, New Slang @ The Works 11th of July - TBC 12th of July - Newport, Le Pub 13th of July - Middlesbrough, Doctor Browns Can't make Dundee of Glasgow : \
  18. I went to kilau tonight and drummonds looked heaving!
  19. I meant new as in new to Aberdeen, but hey, whatevs. And not different? I can't say i've seen a life performance like that of the Mae Shi before. Whether you like them or not is irrelevant. They are packing out other venues, but not Aberdeen. It's pretty self explanatory. I'm glad Wolf Eyes had a great time. Shame their pants.
  20. What?! They're obviously always going to be 'up and coming' (what a silly term), to some people. Who would you consider to be most people? Their profile is pretty big already within circles of people that don't suck off the NME and listen to Jo Whiley, and as far as i know from talking to people, the others dates on the tour have been pretty packed. My point was that Aberdeen is absolutely useless when it comes to trying anything remotely different / new.
  21. Ummm...you can't call a band that has been around for 6 year with 4 releases (one a split with Rapider Then Horsepower) on labels like Kill Rock Stars up and coming.
  22. Ashley sure knew how to hit them, yeah. This is a bummer
  23. JF were good if a little half arsed at times. Last song was epic. I'm also convinced Alexi is one of the best guitarists in the game right now. Just look at him go...! But yeah, Mae Shi. By far the best live performance i've been involved in for years (maybe apart from Sinaloa earlier in the year). I love the mae shi on record a lot, but jeez, live...! I've never seen a band get that involved/into what they play, even if they seem slightly psychotic at times. I knew that they usually started with I Get Almost Everything from various point in the room, but i had no idea about the white sheet. New stuff was great live as well, especially Run to Your Grave. The turnout, as usual, was unbelievable. I can't wait till i finish university and get out of Aberdeen. I'm sick to the back teeth of gigs here. There can't of been anymore than 40 people in the entire venue, with what seemed about 20 at the front (i'm pretty sure a few left as well). But not even at the front. 3 meters from the front. Why do gigs in Aberdeen always have to bee so awkward? Even when i tried to get everyone on the stage at the end (i ended up on my own, looking like a complete pillack), no one bothered! I'm amazed people even bother penciling in Aberdeen anymore. P.S - Photographers that snap away from most of a set, GTF. P.P.S - Moshulu - worst venue in Aberdeen. Drop a bomb on it already.
