What's Cleveland's salary situation like? Is there a chance they could snag LaMarcus? Because that'd be a bit tasty.

Apparently JR Smith is now a free agent after failing to send his opt-in/out decision to the NBA by 11:59pm last night, which is the most JR Smith thing in the world.

I'm pretty pleased with our draft. Hezonja sounds like an absolute lunatic, and, as a shooter, addresses one of the team's biggest shortcomings. He sounds a bit more "NBA-ready" than Porzingis as well, who we were heavily linked with. Sort of disappointed we didn't roll the dice on WCS though. Reckon we're probably looking at another transitional season (only with more competent coaching and less drubbings), before Hoovering-up a couple of top free agents next year.
  4. Jesus. Literally nothing about that shirt is good. Not a single thing. Get in the bin. Football shirts are wank.
  5. That Aberdeen kit is horrible IMO. Looks like a training top.
  6. Looks like we're getting that Ian Cathro lad who everyone seems to love. Hopefully that means our players will get some actual coaching now.
  7. There used to be a YouTube highlight video titled "Gary Naysmith: The Legend," but it's been deleted now. It was six minutes of him getting tackled, slicing passes, falling over and getting subbed-off and it was glorious. RIP.
  8. They have a really awful collection of strikers for a side of their aspirations. Origi was voted into Ligue 1's "Worst XI" this season, Balotelli is dung, Lambert's a midtable player at best, Studge might still be crocked, Borini is Borini... I quite like Dings, though. Good player.
  9. All of their potential centre-back pairings are nasty as hell. They have plenty of great options further up the field, but I don't think they'll be anywhere above 5th until they address the CBs. They succeeded with wild gung-ho Keegan football a couple of years ago because they had a world class forward in Suarez as well as Sturridge before his injury issues. They just don't have that crutch any more, and as good as this Firmino guy may be, I refuse to believe he's anywhere the game-changer that Suarez is/was. One of Sakho/Skrtel would be fine in a back three, but both? Carnage. They're both too thick/cloggy/ill-disciplined to both be in the XI, imo, especially if they're paired with Lovren -- an apparently ball-player who was often calamitous for them. Seems like finding quality CBs is a big blind-spot for Rodgers. As an aside, Jordan Henderson is a brilliant footballer and I love watching him play.
  10. You guys should get on the new Czarface record. I know a lot of you are into that straight-forward, hard-nosed, rapping about being ace at rapping stuff. Totally smacking album.
  11. I thought it was a good season. Not as good as season 4, but good. The Dorne shit was pretty minging, but that last scene was a total belter, especially after the tenderness between Jaime and Myrcella. No way Jon's dead though. Not a chance.
  12. OMG I CAN'T BELEEV DAT TITLE!!!!!!!11111111!!!!!!
  13. Nas - Illmatic. Probably the only album I'd call "perfect." 10/10. Nas - Stillmatic. A handful of gems hidden under piles of weird Jay-Z-esque shallow production. 6/10. Nas - Untitled. Severely under-rated. Inconsistent, but lots of flame emojis. 7/10.
  14. It's definitely not the 2014/15 season any more. The mods have become drunk with power since Lucky's resignation, and I'm not going to take it any more. OCCUPY ABMUS.
  15. Aye, I reckon we're thinking about this in way too much detail. Get this thread in the bin.
  16. The Unsullied are dung. It's like getting Dan Gosling on a free transfer: you think it's a good deal at the time, but then you actually see them in-action... Fuck Stannis tho. He was my bro, and now I hope Brienne stabs him in the throat.
  17. I'm sure this has already been addressed, but why are we still fannying around in last season's thread?
  18. It's a great walking city, so just get off the tube at a station somewhere decent and start roaming around. I found this a pretty rewarding way to experience London. Avoid chain restaurants/bars and check-out some of the endless array of weird hipster joints, particularly in areas like Brixton and Camden. There's an amazing burger spot in Brixton Village (http://www.honestburgers.co.uk/) that's well worth looking-up if you're in the area: grab a bite there, then head to http://www.popbrixton.org/ for a few drinks. Check out Borough Market (by London Bridge tube station) and some of the bars around that area. There are so many cool independent bars/restaurants/shops in the city that there's really no need to eat at vanilla shitholes like TGI Fridays.
  19. Pretty decent bit of racism there. 8/10 on the Ron Atkinson scale.
  20. Carver gone from NUFC, other coaches also leaving. Makes me a feel a lot more positive about Schteve's impending arrival.
  21. Since Thursday I've been in London for a ridiculous series of hip-hop gigs. Wu-Tang on Thursday. Fun. I've seen them before and the sound at the Brixton Academy was dodgy, but they're full of energy and played a top setlist. No RZA, which I can live with, but no Raeburn either. Nas performing Illmatic at the Roundhouse on Friday. Really incredible. Like, goosebump-inducing. As far as I'm concerned, that is THE hip-hop album, and he performed it flawlessly in a great venue to a top crowd. So fucking good. He really commands a stage and looked generally overcome by the reaction he received at times. After Illmatic he played like 10 tracks from his other records. One Mic was absolutely beautiful and got me right in the feels. Made You Look is insane live, too. His DJ (Green Lantern) got busy as well, splicing extended sample cuts in and out of the mix mid-song. Just a brilliant night. The only blight was the support act: TIM WESTWOOD. 2hr DJ set. Guy's like a toddler who got too many new toys for Christmas and wants to play with them all at once. He played like 30 seconds of each track, tops. Like, he played Shook Ones II as part as the piano sample, then switched record. No verse for you. Don't even get me started with his chat, man. "You know what my problem is? I love bad bitches, and I love to fuck." Tim, mate: you're a 57-year-old bishop's son. Go home, you've had too much Pimms. Then last night I saw Run The Jewels. FUCKING HELL. See these guys live. Never pass that chance up. We got there really early because we knew it was going to be chaos, and got two rows from the front. Had a few hours and several pints to psych ourselves up, but I wasn't ready man. I wasn't ready at all. Their energy is nuts. The whole room was bouncing from start to finish, and I'm literally aching this morning. Total nonstop jumping around like a loon. Even when they played slower joints like Sea Legs the place was still writhing. Anyway, a fucking incredible weekend. Living in Aberdeen, it's hard to get to hip-hop gigs, and I feel very privileged to have seen three of my favourite acts over one weekend.
  22. It's just a lazy generalisation formed mainly by people who's main exposure to Newcastle supporters is the waft of zombies they interview on Sky. All we wish for is a team to be proud of, nothing more. And I do say that objectively.
  23. Yeah, as soon as my common sense kicked-in, I wasn't keen on Vieira either. It's just frustrating. They had Remi Garde (a bright young manager with positive ideas and an actual footballing philosophy) interested in the job in January. He was interviewed, then said "nah," because he wasn't allowed to bring in his own backroom staff, which is absolutely nuts: Carver and our coaching team are a complete goober squad, by all accounts. They had an excellent opportunity to push the club forward here, but instead it looks like we're destined to many more years of aspiring to nothing more than finishing above 18th, no cup runs, and not qualifying for Europe. It'd be nice to have hopes and dreams again, you know?
