  1. So how would you deal with Afghanistan?
  2. I think I'll start a new thread for the iraq war - and just let everyone join that instead. I'll call it "Stripeys Views". Oh wait - he doesn't have any - just random polemic, negative, seething counter-comments.
  3. "As mourners digested this megalomanic outburst, Hitchens continued, "And we are going to kill every Al Qaida terrist and Baathist in the country and that's a good thing. They need to be killed and we will kill them."" You don't agree?
  4. Classic. His comments on religion and comprehensive grasp of political history are absolutely breath-taking, but you with your short unconsequential, unexplained, holier than thou comments are definately more worth my time. Thank you stripey for highlighting the good old black and white "throwing the baby out with the crib" morality. Would you throw away Einsteins theorems (the baby) because he believed in something that you disagreed with (the crib)? You are entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts. The book isn't a speculative account of Iraq, but a factual study of Religion. Read it - you might learn something.
  5. Some of those drummers ARE my cup of tea, but they are pretty poor in the grand scheme of drummers. Most of them are really boring, uninfluential, straight rock drummers celebrated time after time in corny top 10 polls in Q magazine due to fame instead of prowess. If you like technique then Steve Smith is great and someone later mentioned Dave Weckl. Yeah I couldn't remember Tim's name - he IS better.
  6. I knew I was eventually going to end up argueing with you stripey... And because your post wasn't exactly enlightening, I am forced to dispell your own high strung ignorance on the subject of Hitchens. Try researching. He only supports George Bush's campaign in the middle east, as do I, but not the man himself. I think the reason more people aren't behind the Iraq war is because of the constant shifting and flip-flopping over the reasons for going. And perhaps for not finishing the job in Afghanistan first. If the Govenment had just said - "We are going to get rid of some evil guy we funded to do our dirty work back in the day, and liberate some people and grab some oil while we are there" then I would still have been against it, but grateful for the truth. Though I disagree with Hitchens over the Iraq war - he has perhaps the most compelling case for it. I remember him saying that anyone whose anti-Iraq tirade starts with : "OK Saddam was a bad guy, but..." clearly does not know enough about the subject to have an arguement. Anyway Stripey - If you could tell me why you didn't like the book exactly instead of posting short, ignorant and misleading posts that detract from, and indeed change, the subject at hand then I would be very grateful.
  7. Make sure you do - I can't recommend it enough. For both believers and unbelievers it is a must.
  8. I've been re-reading this for the past few days. I think Christopher Hitchens may have beat even Bertrand Russells effort on this one. Absolutely essential. Anyone else read it?
  9. Most of those drummers are quite poor in my book. What about the guy from Primus - Brain? Many of Zappas drummers had great unconventional fills and grooves.
  10. So now that the gig is over, how should we evaluate our equations? Certainly it fell short of care-free 60's style fun and collapsed into more of a violent 70's style vacuum mired in sexual guilt. I didn't know where to look onstage.
  11. So we pleased you for some of the time. :]
  12. Yup Turriff. Hang on, so you have to live in Aberdeen to get on this poll? Is this why Copy Haho weren't on the list? Hmmm... *Calls estate agent*...
  13. You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of people all of the time. And sometimes we just play shit.
  14. Surely you mean to say : NOT HILARY! Yes!
  15. Hello Old Beans! We are playing a gig tomorrow night (Wed the 4th of June) in Tunnels with The Gundogs. Over 18 only unfortunately, and I think it's 4 quid. It should be a spiffingly good night if my calculations are correct. Which they are.
  16. *Gushes* Shucks! Our next gig is on Snafu on Monday incidentally. Supporting TheDeathSet. Yeah - "Amen" is the new track.
  17. Amen MySpace.com - Toy - Aberdeen, UK - Jam Band / Dub / Alternative - www.myspace.com/toy3 Analyse, criticise etc.
  18. We recorded an old track of ours with Mr Corn on the mix. It is called Amen. It is on ze myspace. Ja.
  19. Well now the cat is out of the bag GoggZ... Fuck sake...
