Perusing your cd collection, what was the last cd you randomly put on and thought to yourself: 'fuck this is fantastic, i'd forgot just how great this was!'?

Was going through mine last night and shoved on 'Troublegum' by Therapy? Always had thought it was brilliant, but it never fails to suprise me just how fresh, catchy and down right heavy it is. An absolute corker of an album. It just doesn't let up from start to finish. Unlike quite a lot of Therapy? albums, I don't really think theres a bad track on there. Utterly brilliant.

So what was you're last great musical rediscovery?

Went to see District 9 tonight. Utterly fucking brilliant. Original, imaginative, interesting, thrilling, just utterly absorbing. Has monumentally pipped Inglourious Basterds as the best movie of the year. By a long, long way. Just haven't seen many, if any movies quite like it before. Just utterly fucking brilliant, Considering having heard most scenes the script was improvised it was just awesome.

Just read it, excellent interview. Always great to hear a director talk about his movie with such enthusiasm and knowledge of every little possible aspect.

Actually really want to go see it again. So think that'll be my plan for this week.

Went to see this last night at vue. Have to say its actually pretty good. Read reviews saying its brilliant and the best thing hes done, and others saying its fucking awful. Its neither, but its definitely worth a watch.

Its actually quite strange since almost half, if not more, of it is effectively a foreign film. Which is excellent. At least its not english speaking actors failing at german and french accents.

The films worth seeing for Christoph Waltz alone who is absolutely brilliant. Brad Pitts also good, if not a bit hammy at times. As most reviews think, it is a bit ridiculous, but all in all its a good movie.

Anyone else seen or planning to see it?

Just got into them and suddenly have a huge desire to create a pop/rock/prog type band. Keys, guitars, drums, vocals, any other shit.

Any one else similarly taken with 'It Bites'? Any one heard them before?

Ben Folds Five 'Whatever and Ever Amen' and his first solo album 'Rocking the Suburbs' are worth a wee listen.

It is quite an odd genre to put music into, but another good shoutis 'Something/Anything?' by Todd Rundgren.

Bits and bobs by Cheap Trick are pretty awesome. And, on the subject of Jellyfish, Roger Joseph Manning Jr's first solo album 'Land of Pure Imagination' is fantastic.

Can't beat good pop, in any of its various guises.

Ah well probably not your guy. As much as I love Ben Folds, don't think I'd be too up for covers band. Sorry, hope it goes well.

Think I saw Tim Bench in Marcos fastfood (Belmont Street) on the night Jackson died. He was there to back up this not yet confirmed story of his death that we thought the karaoke guy in the bassment was just making up.

Then again, may well not have been him, though pretty sure it was.

Its kind of old school jazz type stuff with a wee pop edge. Two female singers. Impressed that this post eventually actually got a reply. If that sounds like something you'd be up for let me know. The ideas changed a bit but not the music. Just looking to get a permanent band together.

Oldboy - Korean revenge flick. Fucking ace fight scenes, lulls a bit in the middle, but then a super fucking sick double-or-triple-twist stuck into you right at the end. Fucking yaldie.

Aye OldBoys absolutely banging. Its the best of the three Vengeance films as well. Though have to say I find Sympathy for Lady Vengeance a lot more disturbing.

Watched Curious Case of Benjamin Button at the weekend. Despite a pretty lacklustre ending, though suppose its hard to make a baby dying exciting, thought it was pretty good. Thought it a top notch performance by Pitt as well. And suprisingly, despite hating Tilda Swinton, she wasn't bad either. Though I suppose you can understand why it was criticised for being a showboat for the technology.

Rewatched Ratatouille and Usual Suspects aswell. Both of which are brilliant. Think Pixar are just getting better and better. Thoroughly looking forward to Up. As for Usual Suspects, there just arent enough movies like this.

Aye, got into him about a year or so ago. Fucking legend. Sometimes he loses the plot somewhat but who cares. 'Grew on me' is brilliant. Hes a great pianist as well. Legend.

Mr Burns: Now listen Senor Speilbergo, Schindler and I are like peas in a pod. We're both factory owners, we both made shells for the nazis, but mine worked goddamit!

Got a John Woo Collection yesterday with 'Bullet in the Head', 'Once a Thief' and 'The Killer' which I watched yesterday. Of his old Hong Kong stuff I'd only seen 'Hard Boiled' which is great. 'The Killers' pretty good too. Nice that it actually has not too bad a story either. And the action...cannot be complained at.

Going to watch 'The Counterfeiters' tonight. Hopefully that should be pretty good.

Fun night.

I went to see star trek yesterday. Have to say, thought it was fucking great. Bits ridiculous, bits cheesy, and did we really need Leonard Nimoy? But still thought it was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Its a vast improvement on the last two. But considering they were absolute shite, that wasnt hard.

Also say the DaVinci code on the telly last night. Never read the book so can't compare, but apart from a pretty shite ending it wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen. Though have to say Audrey Tatou was a bit pish.

"Burn After Reading" was great!

You didn't even find the Head of the CIA scenes with J.K. Simmons funny?

It's a lot like The Big Lebowski; a slow burner that grows better with age and with more viewings.

Aye, the bits with JK and David Rasche I did actually think were really funny. I found bits of it funny but not on the whole. But I am willing to accept it may well be a slow burner. I'll no doubt keeping going back to it.

Might take many viewings however to be close to the same standard as Lebowski though. But hey I'll give it a chance again sometime.

Put up a couple more tunes a wee while back.

I finally, for the first time in my life, watched an Indiana Jones film last night. Raiders Of The Lost Ark. Very good, I enjoyed it a lot.

The mind boggles that you haven't seen an Indiana movie, but good you enjoyed it. The old ones are classic. I hated the new one though.

Just watched 'Burn After Reading' again last night to try and find the laughs. I struggled. To go from something as brilliant as 'No Country for Old Men' to that is ridiculous.
