  1. Last thing I heard by them was "Heartwork", which was ding.

Jesus christ! Why was it ding...because it was actually awesome? Great songs, great production, some melody and hooks whilst still being brutal as fuck. Ahh yeah, that is all stuff you dont like isn't it?

  2. Machine head are a band ive massively overlooked until now. I'm gonna check them out definintly.

Burn my eyes as a first buy?

Yes! This is in no way a dig but it is a must own if you like metal.

    Get It Sorted!!

  3. I have checked the album out and it is really good. Not sure about best metal album in the last 10 years, however, Im sure im wrong because Im close-minded, can't speeeel and am a bitter old man.

That's awesome you have realised all this :D

  4. But is it better than Burn My Eyes? That's what I would like to know. I'll have to have a dig around for this new album when I get home. Sounds most interesting.

Now considering that I got into Burn My eyes as soon as it came out in 94....therefore most people usually prefer the album they get into a band with yeah? It actually is better. I'm serious. Just listen to it. Dont do anything but listen to it when you first put it on yeah?

  5. Been listening to it this morning.

The guitars sound awesome, shame they aren't playing anything particulary interesting. The album is quite listenable, but pretty unmemorable after one listen, I just find the riffs fairly generic and the lead parts predictable, and I don't like Flynn's voice.

    o_O ?( :swearing:

  6. You're all missing the point to be honest.

Basically, the awards has mainly relied on the same crowd year after year and that has dwindled. Brian and Craig need to start paying more attention to whats more current, seeing what music is about nowadays and going to shows. Seeing what the 14+ crowd are going to. i don't care what anyone says, the line up was weak. Maybe not musically but as far as pulling power goes...for sure.

If Fudge would like input into the awards then i'd oblige and probably triple the attendance of last night. Of course I'd want a cut of the door ;)

  7. Metal as we know it has been blown wide open.

The Blackening by Machine Head - The best Metal album in at least ten years.

Recieved my copy from Amazon yesterday. Four spins in. I could fill the bandwidth of this site talking about this record.

    GO BUY IT!!!

  8. LOLZ!!

do you want me to send you a pic in my weapon tshirt??

would i be one of the lucky ones to grace your MspAcE.Com site??

    LOLZ!!!nooobz!

Yeah sweet!! Didn't know you had a weapon tee. Which one of our 5 designs did you plump for in the end?

Obviously keeping tabs on what we are doing are we? That's nice to know :)

  9. Isn't the line-up just pretty awesome this year

who would you wanna see announced next?

Get Testament off of Bloodstock and slam em on here and that would rule. Cry For Silence, Sylosis, Poison the Well, Twelve Tribes, Every Time I Die........endless!

Machine Head will own it. 2007 will belong to them. Just you wait.

  10. Iron Maiden almost make it worth it themselves. Was fairly crap seeing them in the SECC. Much prefer Donnington to the SECC and only been to Donnington once in 2002 for Ozzfest.

Quite suprised that Dream Theater were playing. Probably has something to do with their rise in popularity and signing to roadrunner records despite virtually no radio play in the UK.

Still sort of looks like a mainstream rock festival with some metal, yet again, rather than a proper metal festival. Bloodstock and ProgPower UK (which got very little media coverage) are still the only real metal festivals in the UK.

Enter Shikari? I thought that was some japanese manga thing. It is actually a band?

Yeah, because Unearth, Megadeth, Slayer, Machine Head, Lamb Of God, Killswitch Engage aren't metal huh?

  11. Ah ok so that will explain the absolute god awfulness of the song " Couple Suicide ".

To be fair man...any song that you think is awful I would probably love and lets remember that you probably first heard scum by Napalm Death about a year or two ago and I saw them play it live in 89 with dorrian on vocals and bill steer on guitar so just run along now ok ;)

  12. I was listening to that this mornign and last night and I was thinking about the fact that you prefer it. It has some of their best songs, no doubt about that, and it probably has the best production but I think alot of the songs lack the edge that most of the songs on both Twisted and Exile have.

I think Exile has a higher standard of songs, generally, but songs like Velvet Alley, Cult of the Subterrainian, Razor Sex & Cemetery are all-time classics.

Fair play. I do see your view although I dont agree if that makes sense. Even the lesser talked about tracks for me are amazing. Kill Your Scene, The Kids, Sattelite, Dig, the title track is AMAZING as well. Only song that's not that good is contender but it is still pretty cool. It's a tough call to be honest. I mean from Twisted onwards the quality of music is just silly good. I mean...sonic defiance....christ!?!?!? I'll always stand by STWB as a class record too...two thirds of it are just awesome.

Exile's production does kind of annoy me actually.

  13. Annihilator are great, why the fuck they are hanging about with faux pas "metalheads" like Trivium is beyond me.

I hate Trivium with a passion.

Now, I'm not a big Trivium fan at all, in fact, I dont don't own anything by them as they just don't really do it for me BUT what makes them "faux"* metalheads? Is it the fact that they wear their love for metal on their sleeve? Is it the fact that they clearly have love for bands that they have perhaps eclipsed in sucess but still show a deep respect for because of the influence i.e. (Testament, Annihilator.) Is it the fact they publicly went out on Ozzfest and supported maiden when they were treated like crap by Sharon Osbourne et al by wearing maiden shirts and playing the Trooper? Is it the fact that they want to be the biggest Metal band in the world? (Most metal bands want that as well.)

I cant see any reason why they are faux Metalheads. Just because they are popular with really young kids. So what, it was only ten years ago that kids of the same age were wearing Sepultura and Machine Head tee shirts in abundance. Did that make those bands faux metal? Did it fuck! Be careful that you dont become that bitter old man Scott, that looks down on the next generation of everything. What keeps someone relevant and young is how open their mind is.

*Its Faux not Faux Pas. Faux pas is a mistake, a no no etc.

  14. epiphone version doesnt even touch the gibson version apparently.

Different pick ups and, believe it or not, the pick ups are what MAKE the bass. Budget pick ups too. But its cool, I have the possibility of a G3 Grabber. So its all good, slideable pick up and everything! Sweet as fuck!

    xxx

    Minging headstock though!
