  1. Is the Dundee shop still open? It doesn't mention Dundee on the website
  2. Nice Tokai acoustic... how old is it? Made in Korea or made in China?
  3. Hi Matt, you're right, Servisol Super 10 is indeed lubricating so that would do. As opposed to Servisol Aero Klene which is dry. How to do it is very simple just spray a little bit right into the pot (there is usually a small gap where the contacts are, you can point the extension nozzle tube thingy of the spray can in there and give a short blast. It does mean you have to open the amp up so you have access to the rear of the control panel or the board where they are fitted.
  4. tuner cleaner Do NOT use WD40 or normal contact cleaner in pots. While WD40 is great for removing sticker (so i read here somewhere) it does not clean dust from pots. Normal dry contact cleaner is great for cleaning connectors but in pots it dissolves the grease causing them to freeze. You should use lubricating contact cleaner, that leaves silicone lubricant behind ("tuner cleaner"). Unfortunately i have not yet found a place where you can get it, Maplin doesn't have it. I'll try RS some time.
  5. It's a quality powered mixer... Do we really have to put it on Ebay and subsidise Parcelforce??
  6. This is very useful advice thanks, we are now looking into in-ear monitoring for the main vocals. By the way, do i sense from this that you are not a fan of feedback suppressors?
  7. advice on PA setup I am looking for some help with putting together a PA for small to medium (pub/club) venues. Aim is to maximise quality and simplicity as we do not have a sound engineer. PA must amplify main vocal + 3 backing vocals, 3 horns and 1 keyboard. We have chosen not to run gtr, bass or drums through the PA and will not use subs. We hope to have the front of house covered with a 12/4 mixer, a Yamaha P3500s amp and S112 cabs as well as a Behringer equalizer, dbx feedback processor and an old Rane compressor. In particular, we don't know what to do for monitoring: - amp and passive wedges (what power and speaker size?) - active monitors (power/size) ? - small monitors like TC voicesolo or Galaxy hotspots (are they good enough?) - what minimum processing do we need for the monitors, Eq, compressors, etc? Suggestions on monitoring but also comments/tips on the rest of the system and general experiences and tips are welcome! Cheers Karl
  8. I would be interested in the monitors only. Maybe if it doesnt sell on Ebay and you'd consider splittingit up let me know.
  9. Perfect for solo, 2-piece or small band. Immaculate condition. Looking for 200 See for details: Mackie - 408m In short: 8 channel mixer, each channel has mic input or line input with sensitivity adjust, 3 ch eq, fx level, monitor level. Digital effects include several reverbs and delays, chorus etc. 2X 250 Watt (in 4 ohm) - can either be configured as 2X250 W main out or 250 main and 250 monitor out. Monitor and main outputs have a 9 channel equalizer. PM me if you're interested

    Sm58

    is the SM58 sold then?
  11. You can probably get a Sound City Mark 6 in that price range.... I heard somewhere they are really great.
  12. both? Why not do both? Do a cheap version with a couple of songs and cheap cover and an up-market version with all songs and good packaging. You'd both serve price-sensitive buyers as well as enthusiasts who are willing to fork out more. This will maximise clawing back recording cost as well as exposure.
  13. Am i mistaken or did i see this hiding somewhere in R&B's: Awesome piece of kit for those King Crimson moments but unfortunately i was just trying to reduce the guitar gear....
  14. The cab is loaded with 4X Celestion Vintage 30's. Good quality wood/build. Used, some small tolex tears here and there. Looking for around 150 ONO. PM me if you are interested.
  15. Hi Karl Good question - cases for Firebirds are a bit of a problem. I have a Hiscox Precision bass case, it fits in there nicely after i removed a little bit off padding in one corner. I will sell the case for 30 pounds with the Firebird if needed. cheers Karel
  16. Brian Setzer got away with dice... Ok i am not Brian Setzer though.
  17. If you know all 6120's lay-outs ever built you win a cigar. Pre-Fender mid nineties 6120's are quite rare. All hardware used to be gold but over the years: the knobs were swapped with an old strat (1 is missing), the bridge replaced by a tune-o-matic, the scratchplate was painted black, the plastic pick-up rings have long since perished etc. Here is an example of what it looked like when i bought it.
  18. Oh just in case you wonder what it sounds like, check out .
  19. For sale my Tokai FB-45 Firebird. Korean, not Chinese (like they do nowadays). Reviews here. About two years old, gigged but in very good conditions. One small issue: i moved the strap knob thingy from the side to the back. Much better balance that way. Unfortunately the first screw that went in broke off, so a bit of a messy job. As a result however, you get a bargain: selling for gbp 150 (newprice is 300 online .... or probably more like 400 in R&B)
  20. got one you mean something like this: I am actually willing to sell to a good home. I got this in 1995, it has been gigged and has several cosmetic issues (in fact just about all hardware is in some way cosmetically compromised). But it was recently refretted, plays and sounds like a Gretsch should. If you want to come over to have a look PM me.
  21. I have some items on sale on ebay: a set of Kent Armstrong mini-humbuckers a set of Tokai Breezy sound (Teelecaster copy) pick ups (i put some awesome Bareknuckles in mine) You can save the postage if you pick them up, i am in the George St area.
  22. cable ties i use cable ties to strap them down. also, experiment with a glue gun. Works particularly well on smooth surfaces.
  23. bump bumping this one, especially for you students back in town wondering what to do with the money from the summer job.
