I didn't watch football at all until I was like maybe 20. I just wasn't in to it. My dad doesn't watch football, my granda didn't, I don't have any brothers, any uncles that I saw very often, no male cousins so I didn't "inherit" a team and had no-one to introduce me to football. I just supported whoever my schoolfriends told me to. I wore the jerseys and everything because everyone else did but I never ever watched a match and didn't really know any of the players or anything. When I first started school in 1984 everybody was huge in to Aberdeen on the back of Gothenburg so I supported Aberdeen for a couple years, then I changed to Celtic for a few years, for reasons I can't remember. Then I moved school and I didn't know anyone, I started hanging about with a few Rangers fans so I switched from Celtic to Rangers, probably just to fit in. I remember owning a Rangers shirt and tracksuit and a Celtic shirt and tracksuit at the same time. Weird. I supported Rangers until I was in my early 20s, before deciding their fans were shitbags and switched allegiance to Aberdeen. I think that's me picked my team now.

Yeah i was trying to remember what the other 1 was called before it became that Irish bar, they used to do some mad thing on a screen where you got all your drinks free. It used to happen to us nearly every time we went there, they must of lost so much money so it's little wonder it shut
The Irish one was Piwo, then Aberdeen Uni Student Union, then something University Grill. Campus? Then the Irish bar. And probably a few things in between.

It was actually the bar further down the hill from Six Degrees North, i once got £50 for playing there for less than an hour coz it turned out they only wanted rock music
I always get those two mixed up. Six Degrees is the old Estaminet is it?

was bells & irn bru in bottles from the glider in '96 for me
I spent a night drinking that crap in Cheers in the Broch when I was about 16 (1996) while also smoking Hamlets. Puked all over my shoes at the end of the night, ruined a lovely pair of suede moccasins. Bad news.
-
That I turn reminded me of this gem when an unscrupulous bar owner in Aberdeen claimed he'd booked Shane McGowan to play in what is now Six Degrees North. If I remember the story correctly the bar was going under, he made the whole thing up to fill the bar for one night then legged it with the takings.

My favourite bit of that shitshow was when Sparkles uploaded a photo of herself* (probably not) and people immediately responded calling her fat. It also reminded me that Biz existed, the original Aberdeen Music village idiot.

My Minds Weapon EP launch in 2004 to a packed out Moshulu. I flew home from France to Glasgow, took the bus into town skelped two pints at the Vale, grabbed a 12-pack of Tennents and jumped on the train with my flatmates. All the beers went, as well as most of the litre of Jim Beam I had bought in duty free. Got to Aberdeen, went to Moshulu, tipped my luggage all over the floor repeatedly, had to have my bass tuned for me, made a right cunt of myself on stage, was also meant to me MCing that gig, then threw my bass on the floor and walked off about three songs in. Absolute shambles of a night and one of the biggest crowds we encountered were there to see it. We played the thick end of a hundred gigs with FeSTR and 90% of people who remember us only remember that one.
I did an almost identical thing with Dos Dedos. We had a gig at Kef, we went to soundcheck then we had a few hours to kill before we were due onstage, me and Marcus went back to my flat under strict instruction from Chris not to get drunk, and proceeded to get absolutely cunted on vodka and Irn Bru (the last time I ever drank vodka and Irn Bru by the way ). We rolled up to Kef late as fuck, steaming, Chris understandably was freaking out and furious. We walked in the door straight on to the stage. Predictably the gig was an absolute shambles, nobody was paying any attention and I took great offence, called the audience cunts, launched my bass off the stage at the end and quit the band there and then. Rock n roll! What a fanny. Broke my bass too.

Initial thoughts on Pacific Daydream: mixed. It's a natural follow up to the White Album, more summery pop songs, only with all the rock aspects removed. No fuzzy guitars, just weird keyboard and electronic sounds. Bold. The songs are really well written and sound super polished, but they're also entirely forgettable. If it were another artist I might be willing to get down on it but it's Weezer. This isn't how I like my Weezer. At least after the first two tracks (arguably the worst two) there are no really arse-clenchingly cringe moments, which is pretty good for a modern Weezer album. Will listen again but don't see myself ever loving this album.
A year on I'm still waiting for this album to grow on me. I think it might just be a really well-polished turd.

There's no reason why they couldn't, there's already Welsh teams playing in England and an English team playing in Scotland. The only question would be on how they could join, though starting from the bottom of League 2 is hardly a new experience for Rangers. They could easily just allow the Premier League to go to 22 teams for one season though, and relegate more teams than usual for that one year.
It's about time that we had proper cross border leagues.
The fucking fever dream that is the Irn Bru Cup begs to differ.

I actually went to the bother of writing out a reply to you explaining my original post, but I then I remembered that trying to have a sensible conversation with you is about as worthwhile an endeavour as eating soup with a fork, so I didn't bother posting it.
Biz-R. is my hip hop name.

Yeah post it.
I'm sure Benson's rap career has been discussed on here. Was the song all about weed?

Cool, OK, thanks for the contribution.

Escape To Victory as well, fuck they were excellent.
-
Point of Origin, I wasn't keen on them when they were skate punk but once they found their niche they were absolutely excellent. Really catchy songs, gorgeous harmonies, smart lyrics. Bob Knight is a bit of a Marmite character but there aren't many better songwriters in Aberdeen. Radio Song is still an absolute beaut.
