  1. Forza Horizon 4. There seems to be less storyline than in previous games, and no real goals, which is weird, it's just driving for driving's sake. Also in 1 & 2 the races were set up so you had to try and master a wide range of cars, in this game you could finish it with just 2 or 3 cars if you wanted because it lets you pick what you want to use before every race. The driving is as fun as ever though and some of the side missions are good. Racing around the streets of Edinburgh is novel too. They've recreated Princess Street pretty accurately, there's even trams.

  2. Recent reads:

"The Longest River" by Hildred Billings

"Dead Girls Can't Lie" by Carys Jones

"You Let Me In" by Lucy Clarke.

"The Colour Of Magic" by Terry Pratchett.

"You Let Me In" was the pick of them. A modern psychological thriller that manages to keep you guessing to the end. Tore through that one.

Currently chipping away at "The Waste Lands" by Stephen King, the third book in the Dark Tower series but I just can't seem to get going with it. Also slowly working through "The Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand, which is excellent but long and I'm not really finding much time to read at the moment.

Urgh, another? That Rumble was garbage. No one in the audience even gave a shit. Shame its all about the money now over actual credibility of the brand.

Is it still gonna be a woman free event? I read that Stephanie McMahon wasn't even allowed near the last one.

Yes another one. They have a fucking ten year deal with the Saudis. Surprising for a company that makes such a huge deal of its philanthropy to get in bed with the Saudis but I guess money talks.

No women again, and all the old farts wheeled out, DX v Undertaker and Kane, Kurt Angle, Hulk Hogan rumoured. They're under pressure to cancel this one though on the back of that dead journalist.

They're having a women-only PPV next month to make up for it.

Why are WWE going down the rehash route?

DX, Evolution, Kane and Undertaker, NWO.  Have they run out of original stuff and trying to get people back by going back in time?

It's for the uocoming show in Saudi Arabia. The Prince there is paying them $10m to come and do a PPV there and gave them a list of all the wrestlers he wanted... But he hasn't watched wrestling since the attitude era and half the people on the list are dead. Shawn Michaels is getting $1m for one match.

Don't blame the Broch for bad weather and your team losing!

The Broch started going downhill when Jim's Plaice became Zanre's.

The Swanny, Fish n Things, ETs (even with the manky red sauce), The Grill, all excellent chippers. Fish n Things was our regular hangout age 13/14 because they had one of those arcade machines with 6 games on it, (including Final Fight and Wrestlemania), a 5p bandit, and hot dogs for £1.

I played a gig once in the broch. The fire exit doors in the gig room were left wide open for people to go out and smoke before we played. But they needed to stay closed duringf the gig cos of the noise so they... chained closed the fire exit doors. Fuck me.

The Leisure Centre? I played a hilarious gig there a few years ago.

  7. I'm as guilty as anyone of giving the Broch a hard time but it honestly was a brilliant place to grow up. It just makes me sad to see the state its in now. Rows and rows of boarded up shops, deserted town centre, maybe 2 good pubs (and that's being generous since one of them is a Wetherspoons), 0 good restaurants, the beach, arguably the Broch best asset, totally empty with nothing but one shit cafe on the promenade. But how do you fix it? There's nothing there, but any time anyone opens something new it just goes out of business again. It gets almost no visitors; because of its location right on the North East tip it isn't really on the road to anywhere or between any two places. Anyone going north can just go from Aberdeen toward Inverness and miss the Broch by about 60 miles. The only reason anyone would be heading for the Broch is if they're actually going to the Broch, and why would anyone be going to the Broch? There's fuck all there. It's a shame it's so cut off because it's actually quite an attractive town, it's just fucking dead now.

Fraserburgh is every small town in every Springsteen song. Your options are either get out while you're young or work in a factory forever. Tramps like us, Broonbreed we were born to run.
