  1. I once met a group of young kids. They had a motor-powered micro-scooter with a cd player and portable speaker set sellotaped to the back. A torch was stuck with more sellotape as neons and a can of deodrant on the side as N.O.S. We commended them on their cool as fuck scooters.

  2. That's still fast, and a good achievment!

As for what's a metronome?, you really should know if you're playing at those speeds. You may know it as a click track?

Calum, there are four "beats" in a bar. And when playing at 300 bpm you're playing 300 of those "beats." When a metronomeis set to play 300 bpm it's playing the three hundred or 75 bars at that speed. Speed, in this context anyway, is universally measured in 16ths. seeing as the click is currently playing the four beats, we have to put 4 hits to a beat for it to be at 16ths(in relation to a full bar). 4 X 4 = 16. You're then playing 16ths at whatever speed (in this case 300 bpm) and would be playing 4 hits to every beat, I.E., 300 x 4 equalling 1200 hits a minute.

  3. I go quicker' date=' mainly 300 on 32nds at the moment.

Try downloading some of the drum mp3's from Mithras , that'll set you right......

I'm heavily into speed, and I do know about fast guys, the likes of (mithras) but I am almost 100% certain you're counting wrong. By my tally, if you were to play 32nds for a whole minute, you would be playing:

32nds at 300 bpm equalling 8 strokes per "click" of a metronome.

I.E. 300 x 8 = 2400 snare hits a minute or 40 a second. To put that into perspective, the current world record is a shy over 1200, or rougly 16ths at 300bpm. Making you twice as fast as the fastest in the world at the moment, Mr Mike Magini. I don't doubt that you're fast, but unless the mistake's on my side, you're counting wrong (or are a ridiculously prodigal speed-player.) I'm fairly sure I'm correct, I am like you, very into fast playing and have been working with metronomes with speed for a long time, as well as analysing other players' speeds and parts during songs.

  4. There's at least three' date=' you haven't been looking.....

Playing with yer feet at the speed of light means jack shit if your upper body can't keep up, remember to spend those vital hours on rolls, 32nds, and big fuck off patterns........[/quote']

Don't worry, speed's not my only thing, I try to be as varied as I can, including the 200bpm stuff. I practice going through it all in a couple of various blast patterns, to keep the hands up there too. As for 32nds at 200 though, that's not possible. Sure you're counting right?

  5. He was using some sort of Pintech electric kit, (I'm not too familiar with their lines though) along with Paiste cymbals - Signatures mainly and a Rude splash I think. He used what appeared to be pro-mark sticks. Not sure about the pedals, it says Iron-Cobras on the site but I thought they looked like single chain pedals on the night. On top of all that it seemed to be a Gibraltar rack with some Pearl and maybe Premier boom arms. I'm a bit of an drum-equipment geek.

  6. Well I only listen to a few power metal bands. To be honest I doubt we really count as a power metal band. We draw influences from bands like Cacophony' date=' Megadeth, Maiden, In Flames, At The Gates as much as we do power metal. The main problem is that we play so fast that the only drummers who can keep up are ones into grind/death metal, metalcore and power metal, and only the ones who play power metal are as technical as they are fast.

So anyway do you think it's worth getting in contact with this Theo guy or what?[/quote']

Just as a point, that thing about being technical with speed is shite.

Some of the most technical players have probably never touched power metal.

  7. i hate neds' date=' because in my experiance they are all violent nob polishers... i get on with damn near everyone else, but it aperas to me that neds hate everyone! i may b stereotyping them as burbery clad violent halfwits who want to "chib" me with their empty bottle of buckfast, but in my experiances of neds, thats what they all are, i think ellon is almost worse than aberseen for violent neds... so i conclude that all neds deserve to have the shit beat outta them![/quote']

How about they want to batter you because in their experience all people like you are cheeky nob polishers that seem to hate them? How about that in their experience, all people into alternative music are total cunts?

It works bith ways, what makes you think you're morally above a "NED" when you make all the same initial mistakes as they do: assumptions based on looks? It'll never stop as long as people on both sides practice this. You're not doing much to promote a violence-free society by encouraging the harassment and injury of anyone whose burberry clad are you?

What makes you teh right one in this situation? Why is your side the correct one?

I'm tempted to say that at least they will go out and be pro-active about thier views(while I certainly don't approve of the tactless and blunt ways they do it!) instead of slating people on a messageboard behind their backs. But I don't quite know how to explain my view on that without seeming like I support mindless beatings.

  8. oh thats ace

i was at legoland 3 weeks ago and i loved it :D

tried to steal some lego but it's all glued down :(

but i was cheered up to see 10 year olds using lego from play areas to add willies to already made characters :)

I was down visiting recently too. I managed to get a monkey from a duplo lion, they're glued down really well.
