Saw?
count me in
Hey, we don't desecrate your Dave Mustaine threads (actually I did) but stick to your inarticulate metalhead threads.
-
You think I'm lucky? My sister saw him on Tuesday too!
Your sister, son, is a lucky bitch.
-
This is going to be amazing. Any other lucky souls going?
My sister's desperate to get one of his shirts' date=' so we're going early.[/quote']
You son are one lucky bastard.

Nnnnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even the Faint, although electronica aren't all that scuzzy although they are all that brilliant. For really scuzzy electronica try Alec Empire's Intelligence and Sacrifice.

awesome album. there's nobody like them. still think staring at the sun is their best song.

It was supposed to be out today but I couldn't find it anywhere in Aberdeen. This has led me to believe that it might not be available in stores but only on order from Gold Standards Lab. Anyone got any info?

Dido?!?! Piss off!

Recently I have bought:
Dedalus/Politik Split ep
Arab Strap - Monday At the Hug and Pint (and the guy in One-Up gave me money off for "having good taste", which was nice.)
Downloaded Modest Mouse and TV On the Radio and a couple of GY!BE albums, the thieving little get i am.

A message to Stuart Maxwell; why dont you actually learn to play an instrument yourself before you slag other bands off.You make me laugh dude.
It doesn't specify in this thread that you must be a musician to give your opinion you idiot. And i think the Needles suck big time.
-
Anyone else heard it? I just can't get enough, it's frightfully good. I've heard that the new album supposed to be a bit disappointing though.
-
The best one I've ever made is one i just made for myself although it's actaully a mix cd.
The Mars Volta and all those with whom they are associated:
1. The Mars Volta - A Plague Upon Your Hissing
2. De Facto - Mitchell Edward Clik Enters a Dreamlike State and It's Fucking Scandalous
3. Long Beach Dub Allstars - Kablammin' It
4. John Frusciante - Carvel
6. At the Drive-In - Quarantined
7. At the Drive-In - Chanbara
8. Free Moral Agents - Everybody's Favourite Weapon
9. Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Venice Queen
10. Omar Rodriguez Lopez - Deus Ex Machina
11. Sparta - Cur Your Ribbon
12. Coldplay - Don't Panic
13. De Facto - Professor Contra De Facto
14. The Mars volta - Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt

Almost Parallel by Dedalus and Maquette by Politik and the last song Masamune played on Saturday, no idea what it's called.
-
This was a superb show and the EP is pretty tremendous also. My mate even went so far as to exclaim Dedalus' set to be the best he's ever seen.
-
My fave bassists are:
Jah Wobble - nice deep hypnotic dub basslines
Andy Rourke - just a great sense of both rythmn and melody and mildly funky.
Flea - just cos a he's great all round bass player, and it annoys me when people think he is just a master of funk cos he so much more subtle than people give him credit for as is shown by his playing on the Mars Volta album.
Omar Rodriguez Lopez - guitarist in ATD-I and The Mars Volta but his bass playing in De Facto is awesome, impossible not to groove to.
-
i'm gonna say snow patrol as well. edgy and cool enough whilst also maintaining mainstream appeal.
franz ferdinand have a chance though.
SNOW PATROL!!!!!!! EDGY AND COOL!!!!!!!! THEY'RE AS EDGY AS A FOOTBALL AND AS COOL AS AN ARAB'S SANDAL!!

I saw Buck 65 and he was very entertaining.

I missed Kasabian cos it took so long to get into the arena. I thought the best bands were Muse, The Killers, Stellastarr*,Ash, British Sea Power and the very best band were Hope of the States but unfortunately their set was cut short. What was even more unfortunate is that the singer and violinst came outside to finish their set acoustically but were forced away by security, and I missed all this. British Sea Power had the best setup on stage with the Herons and Owls and bits of trees and that crazy drummer guy who came into the crowd. I thought Dogs Die In Hot Cars were pretty good and, although I don't like them, the Zutons and Kings of Leon put on good shows.

that would explain why i've seen some twat from my old school with that tippexed on his bag

To me it seems that there are a lot of bands who, though they may not only want to cool, at least just want to sound cool and lack the ability to make sincere music.
-
Seen as my previous post seems to have disappeared I'll put a new one. We (Tragedy Masks) are desperately seeking (yes we are desperate) a person to play keyboard and/or synth and a drummer also. It would also be nice to have someone to play other miscellaneous instruments such as violin or flute but this could be the same person as the keyboardist/synth player. We are not looking for maestros, just people dedicated to making life affirming, eclectic and sincere music. Some musical influences include Joy Division, The Mars Volta, PIL and many others. We also are influenced by elements of Greek mythology. Even if you don't completely like all these influences don't hesistate to PM me as we are always looking for someone able to bring something different to the band. If your interested but don't play any of the instruments stated still get in contact. Age shouldn't be a barrier unless you're a lot older or younger.
-
I plan to buy the album after titp if I have any money left. The single got me intrigued.
-
Gutted that both the Killer and Stellastarr* will clash with Franz Ferdinand.

everyone is talking about diversity but diversity does not equal innovation.
