You are all gonna hate them soon.

I've always wondered if the name Dedalus was a refrence to the Greek mythology guy' date=' or the James Joyce character Steven Dedalus, if it's the Jame's Joyce character it's a very clever name (with the singer having the name Steven etc).[/quote']
I believe Dave Officer said it was the character from Portrait of the Artist...which is quite clever.

I've been wetting myself with anticipation for months. Although my society's going to have to update it's name again. Can't wait to see how the new indirect free kicks and more precise dribbling will change the gameplay. Reading this review makes me want to touch myself in special places.... ---Video Preview....
Can't wait to get my hands on it....
Your in the Pro Evs society at Aberdeen Uni?
-
Blue Monday and Love Will Tear Us Apart are as goth as Natasha Bedingfield.
-
I once sent an abusive e-mail to NME cos in a review they said that "like rain and irritable vowel movements the Needles come from Aberdeen". That pissed me off. They didn't print it though, unsuprisingly.

You'll be sorted - the scene is good here and we have rock clubs and pubs in the Moorings' date=' Moshulu, Exodus, Drakes, Tilted Wig, Bassment and the like [/quote']
The Tilted Wig is a rock pub?
-
1. The Mars Volta - De-loused in the Comatorium
2. Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible
3. Joy Division - Closer
4. Smashing Pumpkins - Adore
5. God I have no idea

what other videos have they done?
All of Hope of the States videos (in fact that's how they got their break cos they colaborated with them when they were unsigned on projections and artwork) as well as the the Duke Spirit and the Fiery Furnaces i think.
-
haha' date=' i read the quote before reading who said it, and i was thinking "must be the manics" and it was..
oh dear have you seen the new video, by the way?[/quote']
It's an awesome video. Type2error only make awesome videos.
I need to go find an equally good Manics quote now. No the video is lots of clips of Nixon spliced up in type2error's trademark fashion with clips of the manics in Nixon masks and sitting behind a presidential desk with bradders singing the song like an address to the nation.

Interpol - Antics
Radio4 - Stealing of a Nation
The Faint - Wet From Birth (well i dl/d it but i will probably buy it)
I'm tempted by the "lost" Mansun album Kleptomania but I've heard it's shit.
Ain't bought no DVDs though.

Wha?!!?!? So it's off then?
-
I'd put Funeral March by Jah Wobble. Obvious choice for the title but everyone would laugh when they hear that Irish guys voice come on and talk about the potato famine. Not that the potato famine is a laughing matter.
-
Manic Street Preachers (makes them sound like they're telling you some holy truths' date=' which they sort of are... naming the best album in the world ever The Holy Bible was an absolute masterstroke as well)
!!! (I'd love to know how you're meant to say their name... I just look shocked at people three times)
Public Enemy
The Dillinger Escape Plan
Guns N' Roses
Joy Division (a guy at work always calls them The Nazi Whore band after I told him what it meant)
Hmmm... I'm kind of just naming bands I like now.[/quote']
!!! is pronounced "chk chk chk".

Bought it yesterday and although it could do with a fair few more listens it is excellent stuff. I don't think it's better than Turn On the Bright Lights though. Despite the fact that it's more poppy and accesible it the melodies just aren't as strong although it beats TOTBL in terms of it being more varied soundwise. The best songs are probably Not Even Jail and Narc.
You buy? You like?

I'm doing an essay on this at uni. Keep it up. I need ideas.
-
I forgot Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

It's dance music that no-one dances to. So' date=' really, it's not really dance music. Really.[/quote']
I dance to it. And people are idiots.

British Sea Power
Radio4
Manic Street Preachers
New Order
Depeche Mode
PiL (Public Image Limited)
-
It's also a bit New Order-ish.
-
Hah.. Radio 4 doesn`t work in a club...
Been playing them since Gotham was released.
Never any interest. Same goes for Interpol.
Radio4 bloody should work in a club, it's dance music.
-
Louie Louie, please less Shed fuckin Seven. More Radio4.

I've always thought if you were going to meet one of the Manics' date=' James would be the one to meet. Nicky seems a little cynical and resentful nowadays and Sean doesn't seem to be a people person, James is always doing those Glastonbury interviews and Jools Holland etc, seems like an man of honour, did he say much?[/quote']
It was complete fluke that I bumped into him (not literally). My alarm didn't go off so i got to the check-in desk at Manchester airport late and in a rush (to get home for the old firm game) and i was waiting in the queue and just turned around and he was there. I got him to sign my "Forever Delayed" photo book and he chose the picture (he visibley cringed when he looked at some of them). He sign a GT era one of the band on stage. He noticed that my accent wasn't Mancunian and asked me where i was from and what not and said that I should have went to the Glasgow show cos it was better. And when he went past me again on the way to his gate (I guess he was going to London) he came up and said hi again and shook my hand. He was extremely friendly despite the fact that i was disturbing him when he was with his missus. I've got the signed picture framed on my wall.

I'm going to put it to the group that James Dean Bradfield is the best british rock vocalist of the 90's by a mile.
Arguably so, and I've met the guy. Good firm handshake to match his voice.

I saw footage of some festival from this year of them doing Motorcycle Emptiness and it sounded so limp' date=' They don't seem to do a lot of Gold Against the Soul stuff live, which is a pity because I think it's a great album, it might be a bit of a hit-searcher and really overblown, but it's got balls, as does Generation Terrorists, I like the Holy Bible but it's a little bit cold i think.
I'd fucking love to hear them do Roses in the Hospital, but it's unlikely.[/quote']
I think they did Roses In the Hospital when I saw them in Manchester two years ago so they might be playing it again. Having said that they also played Slash 'n Burn and I really can't see them playing that so the same could apply for Roses.
