  1. Aye I like them, their album is "vast"
  2. Shetland lost a legend yesterday, a true legend...... Peerie Willie (1920-2007) RIP Sadness as Peerie Willie dies
  3. My dad (who incidentally was in Lisbon for the final in 67) tells a "story" about a child born shortly after in Glasgow being given middle names of the full winning team - something like Name "Simpson Craig Gemmell Murdoch McNeill Clark Johnstone Wallace Chalmers Auld Lennox" Surname ?( ?(
  4. Ill stick up for 1990s and say "i like them" Saw them support CSS and enjoyed it, thought they just wanted to have fun, good lyrical turn - they make me laugh and nod my head!
  5. excellent night. I really like the woodend barn, a great space, reminded me of discos when I was a teenager in a country hall in Shetland, they also ran out of lager! Sandy Wright was excellent, maybe my fav of the night, good humor in his songs and he and Aberfeldy really looked to be enjoying themselves. Which is always good. "We got nuggets as big a horse / We got nuggets as big a horse" anyone know which film this song as from? Sandy mentioned it at the beginning of the song?

  8. "English has a nice word for this kind of music: Lush! Folk, jazz, singer-songwriter and country meet each other in this striking Americana variant that will reach out to you..." (Hanx, Amsterdam) www.heathergreene.com www.myspace.com/wwwmyspacecomheathergreene "Heather's compositions envelop you without your realizing ... they take you off guard and stay there." (Rolling Stone, France) "A warm and gracious charm, it is time to pay attention to this talent." (La Jalouse, France) "With an intimate voice and lush atmospherics, Heather Greene may very will be the antidote to an agitated world." (La Humanite, France) "Courage is needed for such an album, but even more so, talent, self-confidence, and heart..." (Music Outlook, Germany) Heather's slow and steady rise amongst the ranks of New York musicians is now gathering momentum. With a bittersweet collection of original material that slowly envelopes the listener into her slo-mo world of layered soundscapes, she has charmed enough of her hometown over the past two years to sell out high-profile clubs in New York City such as Joe's Pub, Tonic, Southpaw and the Living Room. Her tunes slowly slip into your consciousness, WNYC proclaimed her "New York's Best Kept Secret" and publications like Time Out New York, The New York Post, and The Village Voice all praise her music and continually recommend her performances to those wishing to hear live music. Rolling Stone (France) gave her CD three stars. Guitars, strings, double bass, drums and other sounds are layered upon her piano-driven compositions by incredible colleagues like Bill Frisell and the Tosca String Quartet. Each musical part uncovers mini-stories unto themselves, revealed after many listenings. Her intimate cover of the Cars "Just What I Needed" indicates a sense of play and sexiness, and has prompted at least two reporters to call her "daring." At once sexy and innocent, romantic yet a tiny bit sarcastic, bold yet dreamy, Heather's songs contain a duality of opposites that capture moments in time otherwise lost by busy lives and hurried heads. Like so many musicians who are coming out of the New York City scene, Heather's songs teeter on a mix of Jazz, pop, folk and even a bit of country. 3, DOORS 7:30pm

  11. I think Ill be down for this! and good on them making the trip to Shetland also!
  12. "What? Oh sorry this is yours? Ok ............. its gone now. Have a nice day! " or something like this.......
  13. Youtube is weird for this. The premise of it is something like: "you can go swim in your neighbours pool until he tells you not too!" (altho clips on YouTube have more fringe benefits for the "neighbour" than you just "swimming in their pool") Viacom (owns MTV) is currently suing Google for $1Billion due to copyrighted material and has asked them to remove 100,000s of clips - but I cant see it coming to anything and is probably more of a bargaining tool to get a better deal with them in the future. Other media groups, like the BBC, have agreements with Youtube (of some sort I think). For example the BBC has started using Youtube to play trailers for new shows. or something like this.....
  14. Id be interested. Ive been to a few of these "thingys" and they are always really informative.
