  1. p.s "All in all he's just another dick with no balls"
  2. Is there a universal campaign to ruin the memory of pink floyd for ever using shit immitations..first scissor sisters now korn...*shakes head*
  3. The thing is how the hell can you come up with a comprehensive list. When you get to that level i.e 'the best' its very hard(nigh on impossible) to distinguish between people cos there's only a certain level you can get to before everyone is more or less the same. Al;though i am disusted that Daniel Erlandson from Arch Enemy isn't in there
  4. My fav song right now is 'river below' the nearest thing i could think of would be a harder version of rufio. But i wouldn't like to contrast them with anyone, i jus think they fucking rock
  5. Just discovered this band and they have sudenly become my new favourite band...fucking ace! Anyone else heard of/like them?
  6. From my point of view everything i've heard aboput MMW musically seems to suggest that their an ace band that play good music, if its what your into. But the fact is that they've made it pretty easy for people to dislike them. I mean every time ben comes onto the message boards and MMW is mentioned sudedenly the hackles are raised and he comes out with stupid comments that just make him look like an arrogant fanny. If you think your bands good there's no need to force it down other peoples throats, but that's what happens, If you build your band up to be some kind of extraordinary super talented group who are gong to single handedly resque the Aberdeen music scene first then go on to to conquer the world and turn everyone into MMW fans then people instantly want to knock you back down, then thngs get personal...insults get hurrled and the whole cycle starts over again until you've turned everyone against you.
  7. I don't know about you but i always thought the point of a local newspaper having journalists was so they could find what was going on in the local area...not just 'serious' news like "the stonehaven old peoples fund are organising a charity jumble sale this weekend" but also sport, music etc. So therfor sending a journalist to a gig once a week doesn't seem like a lot of hassle to me...or maybe i'm just ignorant. I just think its a sad day when the public has to phone the newspapers to get any decent articles published.
  8. I hate Nickelback and everything they stand for. However, the fact that those songs played together sound exactly the same could be because the Nickelback boys sat down and said "lets make 2 songs that are exactly the same...yet kinda different...and see if anyone notices". If so then it is us that are the fools being led along by their impish games!...I very much doubt that the kroeaugur(i dunno) is that intelligent.
  9. Although scandinavian death metal rocks like fuck!!
  10. I dunno about this. Its good that a sorta big name band are playin aberdeen, but jus cos they are i'm not gonna go outta my way to go see them for the sake of it. The jurys still out on this one
  11. Listenin to: streets-dry your eys mate. lovin it!
  12. But that's what metal is isn't it, a formula. My punk friends worked out the metal formula many moons ago. Firstly you need to get a group of people together who have long hair and tight clothes. Must be Exibitionists! Get same metal chord progression that has been used by every metal band ever. Thrash the chord sequence to death and and some high pitched squeeling "rock..OOOOOOOON" etc. Then comes the twenty minute solo, a drum round off, another short solo and a crashing finish. Turn the band into drug-abusers/alcoholics/and sex-machines. Have huge pyrotechnic filled shows...make a hundred albums to flood the market sit back and enjoy your metal masterpiece.
  13. Sorry forgot to check up on this thread, but yeah i would be interested in buying your mini-destroyer
  14. My mate the other day, whilst eating a kiwi fruit: "have you ever heard of the kiwi bird, native to new -zealand? Well that's where the kiwi-fruit comes from. Its the egg of the kiwi-bird. Its actually called the 'sweet kiwi egg'!"
  15. How do you get a radio slot on meFM?

  19. Have played acoustic for 2 years and am looking to invest in electric. Guitar wanted is an ibanez destroyer pref. with amp and lead...price must befit a poor student-type.
  20. the way i see it is that the major record labels belive it is to cut back on production costs in order to put more money into merchandising and markeing. This is because usually they have no intention of releasing more than one album from any particular band, so they don't give a shit if the album sounds like poo cos they can them blame it on the band and dump them. Their view is that there are so many expendable bands out there they can keep on doing this and get away with it. I read an interview with Tom Morrello wher he said that the majority of contracts offered by the major record labels go like this: -band gets ten pounds for every hundred made -band gets 100,000 to make record. They then expect to get their hundred grand back meaning a band has to sell like 500,000 records just to pay the label back half of what they owe them. The record industry is truly fucked that's why we need to boycott major labels by only buying independant. It may hurt bands who are signed onto major labels in the short term, but in the long run will result in a better deal for the majority. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Join the fight: www.downhillbattle.org
  21. Hey everyone, This is a very important heads-up to anyone who's a musician, or who's connected to running a record label. The Future of Music Coalition is running a survey now, in partnership with the Pew Research Center, of musicians' attitudes towards the Internet. Within just a few months, we could see laws pass that would start sending people to jail for filesharing. The major record labels lie to the public that they're doing this to protect musicians, so right now it's vitally important that the public hear what most musicians really think. The Pew Research Center is a respected institution, and when they release a study like this it makes news; you've got an opportunity here to make your voice heard. Take the suvey, and please pass this on to all of your friends who play music: http://websurveyor.net/wsb.dll/11719/Music.htm THE DEADLINE FOR THIS SURVEY IS APRIL 15th. For more information about the study, and about the Future of Music Coalition, check out: http://futureofmusic.org/research/musiciansurvey.cfm and http://futureofmusic.org/manifesto/index.cfm The survey isn't especially good. There are lots of questions that are rather leading. For example: "Overall, do you think file sharing on the Internet poses a MAJOR threat to creative industries like music and movies, a MINOR threat, or that it poses no real threat at all?" They exclude the increasingly obvious answer: that filesharing is a good thing for the independent/underground side of the music business because it's breaking the major labels' monopoly. And they don't ask the question: "Do you want to see working parents and students going to jail for sharing music?" --which is an important question to ask since it's on the horizon. But try to work within the limited questions to get your message across. And again, pass this around to your friends. We've only got four more days ('till Thursday)! We're gonna win, Jamie Greig (purplefrodo) Downhill Battle downhillbattle.org
  22. I read an interview with busted in the sun where they claimed to write all of their own songs and be totally into old-school punk and stuff. Then read an interview with the blink 182/transplants drummer (who for some unknown reason did a song with busted) who said that they wrote none of their own songs and were told what to wear/what music to claim to like by their record company. I'd respect them if they were true to their words but they lie and try to pretend their something their not which is shit cos iut cons people into buying their records!
  23. I have the problem that i start to sing a song i've made up in my head and one of eaither two things happen: 1) i write down the lyrics then forget how the tune/melody goes. 2) i forget to write down the lyrics and lose the song completely. So i've decided i'm gonna get a dictaphone.
