  1. O.K meeting for Aberdeen-music-aid 2005 will be held Sunday (Sunday 9th january 2005) at 7'o'clock at the back of the Bassment. I've sat down and decided that what the committee needs is. 1) Arty people: - To design logo's, posters, badges, t-shirts +fliers. -Also need people who have access to the places where these things can be easily produced. 2) Media people: -People who are in/have access to various media outlets. -local/national newspapers, fanzines, radio etc. 3) Web design: -somebody who has decent web-hosting and is willing to design a web page. 4) Experienced event organisers: -People who have had experience in organising events such as this. 5) MInutes taker: -I will do this if no-body else wants to. But preferably we will need a 'secretary' type person to take notes of the meeting for future reference. *Any help of any kind/size is greatly appreciated.
  2. I fucking love the Christmas trees when are they playing aberdeen?!? (not birdman)
  3. My answer was gonna be gay, but if your going to be homophobic about it!
  4. O.K i'm going to speak to Ross about possibility of this thing happening at moshulu, i think provisionally there is a date free in march. This may seem a bit far off, however, I'm with Ross in saying that there needs to be plenty promotion in order to get as many people through the door. What people who have contacts in the media need to do now is contact their 'contacts' and make sure that the event will get publicity. As of right now there isn't a definite date set, but that should be sorted out by the end of the week, meaning a meeting should be provisionally set for the coming saturday/sunday. I dunno wheres most suitable to meet. I think the Bassment at the back seen as its quite well set up for a meeting such as this.
  5. I think that a proper meeting should be held to organise a committee. People who are actually willing to do something practical to help put this thing together. Any suggestions...
  6. well lets face it, he wont exactly be able to hop onto a plane tommorrow and fly off to Sri Lanka like a in a fookin movie or something will he? Its a logistical nightmare that'll take at least a month the finalise. By then relief structures will be more firmly put into operation and will be ready for foreign volunteers.
  7. "What with their jump to Epitaph a little while ago, I guess I really shouldn't be surprised by this latest move." whats wrong with epitaph?...
  8. I would also advise that you knew everything you needed to know before you even set foot on a plane. You don't want to end up in somewhere like Karachi not knowing where to go, get maps and phone the embassy before you go(although it will be difficult to get through because there will be so many people attempting to contact relatives)
  9. They need both...so if you want to raise money why not go to a little thread entitled 'Tsunami Aid Fundraiser' and donate your services. Its all mouth until you pluck up the balls to do something constructive. If you actually want to go and volunteer your services as a relief worker, clearing debry and finding survivors, get a visa/buy a plane ticket/get out there(whichever country you decide to help in) go to the british embassy where they will send you to one of the many relief organisations. I wouldn't advise going alone though.
  10. maybe participating bands that have cds/t-shirts would also like to sell those at the gig and donate some of the money raised to the overall amount. Also t-shirts/badges with the event info on them could be made and sold to raise money. If more than one venue is willing to host and/or more bands are willing to play than time allows then the event could occur at multiple venues at the same time with the finale of the event being held at the biggest venue. This would also help to raise more money. Gaudie would promote as well
  11. i agree, for a good turnout people need to know about it. Would Moshulu agree to host the event?
  12. Well the relief effort is in the very early stages and the effects of this disaster will probably be felt for at least another generation to come. But its true that the sooner something is organised the better. The true nature of this disaster is only just unfolding i think the least people could do would be to play a few songs or pay a little money to hear a few songs being played, if you care as much as i know you all do then do something about it.
  13. We need somebody who runs a venue who is willing to host the event and bands that are willing to play at it
  14. I think that a gig should be organised in Aberdeen with the proceeds being donated to the red cross or Oxfam or a mixture of different charitable organisations.
  15. For the reccord i have no problem with skkinheads, just the ones who have skinheads because they reckon it makes them more intimidating
  16. Do people deliberately seek out new ways of becoming 'more extreme' in order to prove a point, or is it just a natural occurence like deciding you like chocolate rather than ice cream. Also does anyone else get really frustrated with the kind of people who walk around acting all extreme in order to prove a point to people they define 'judgemental' but will then shove you out of the way and look pissed off at you because your not as 'extreme' as them, this i find to be very two-faced.(these people usually are not extreme at all and will usually be the people who when Korn, Rage or Slipknot come on in a club will head to the dancefloor and shove people to the ground because their 'well hard' and have a skinhead to prove it)
  17. 5)seen as i found out what i wanted to know quite easily here i seemed to have saved myself some effort. 6)Listing things in order to get your point across is really anally retentive.

  19. O.K i didn't think anyone was ever gonna reply to this so i went out and found a guitarist who says he is well up for playin for us. However, i would really like a second guitarist. Have written lyrics to first song, name being 'Inaction is the worst of both worlds'. Go to www.myspace.com/mafthmakingammunitionforthehelpless and check out the blog under that song name. If your still interested then P.M me, when you read the lyrics just think Zack De La Rocha.
