  1. Hi everyone

I have recently upgraded to a new alto sax so I have my old one to sell. It comes with a bag, crook and mouthpiece. I probably have some reeds I can throw in too.

It doesn't have a name on it, it just has an imprint of 'foreign' on it. I did a bit of research online, and I think that this was done to imported brass instruments during the 1960s.

This saxophone has been well gigged, I have had no problems with any of it. It could probably do with a service to tighten up the mechanisms a wee bit, but it is in playable condition as is.

I would say that this is a good beginner's sax; it's quite old so has a decent tone, but the intonation isn't great.

  2. I like making chocolate brownies:

    200g plain chocolate

    200g butter/marg

    50g caster sugar

    3 eggs

    a handful of mini marshmallows

    80g plain flour

    40g cocoa powder

boil some water in a pan, put a bowl over the top and melt the plain chocolate and butter together.

In another bowl, whisk the 3 eggs with the caster sugar. Try to use an electric whisk, the sugar and eggs should turn a pale yellow colour and should increase quite a bit in volume.

Slowly add the chocolate/butter mixture to the whisked eggs, a wee bit at a time. Then add the flour and cocoa powder. The mixture will seem very dry at first, but keep going it will turn out nice. Mix in some marshmallows and that's you.

Put the mixture into a buttered tray and bake for 20 minutes at about 170c.
